Reborn on Wedding Night: Flirting the Cold Bigshot into Blushes-Chapter 348: Changing the Exchange Location
The close aides had clearly seen how the eldest young master treated the young madam five years ago.
So when Clement spoke such words, everyone was quite surprised.
Thinking it might be due to Clement being shut in his room for years with little fieldwork, he was somewhat unaware, one aide quickly pulled him back and reprimanded: "Your combat ability is weak, clinging to your computer every day, how will you protect the young madam?"
Clement still wanted to speak.
Godfery Shaw already said firmly, "That’s settled, Nancy and I will go. The explosives are on Hailey Smith, the real danger is for those entering the house to rescue her."
Nancy Allen linked arms with Godfery Shaw; they truly looked like a young master and young lady on an outing in the suburbs.
They walked directly to the door of the house, reaching out to knock.
Godfery Shaw spoke, "Hello, is anyone here?"
Inside, Hailey Smith heard the voice, panic surged through her heart; she recognized the voice of the eldest young master.
The eldest young master is here, no! He can’t come in, it’s dangerous inside!
Hailey Smith wanted to warn, began struggling, blood from her forehead smeared all over the floor.
Hardy grabbed Hailey Smith’s hair, forcing her head up, and whispered ominously, "Trying to call for help? You want me to kill those at the door?"
Hailey Smith went quiet, not daring to move.
At such close range, if the explosives were ignited, everyone would die, and this madman before her wasn’t afraid of death.
Seeing Hailey Smith yield, Hardy was finally satisfied and went to open the door.
The wooden door of the house opened halfway, Hardy cautiously looked outside, seeing a pair of excessively good-looking couple, and asked, "Who are you? What do you want?"
Godfery Shaw with a calm tone said, "Hello, we mistakenly wandered in here while on an outing, and now can’t find our way out. We’re looking for someone to guide us."
"No time, scram." Hardy replied impatiently.
If not for fearing a commotion outside, Hardy wouldn’t have opened the door at all.
Godfery Shaw in a wealthy manner said, "I can offer a reward. Just get us out of this village, and I’ll give you 20,000, how about it?"
Upon hearing money, Hardy’s eyes instinctively lit up, and he opened the door wider.
For the poverty-stricken Hardy, 20,000 was a considerable sum.
If under normal circumstances, he wouldn’t even think before agreeing, but now he couldn’t; if he left, what if Hailey Smith ran away?
As long as Hailey Smith was there, even if he couldn’t get a billion, he could surely get 20 million.
With this thought, Hardy shouted, "I said I’m busy, didn’t you understand? Stop knocking or I’ll let the dogs loose."
With that, Hardy slammed the door shut.
Godfery Shaw and Nancy Allen exchanged a glance. When the door had briefly opened wider, they saw Hailey Smith, her face covered in blood.
Hailey Smith had been watching the door, in that brief moment of eye contact, she quickly shook her head, signaling them not to come closer.
She couldn’t speak, couldn’t warn the eldest young master, just hoped he could see the explosives on her.
After Hardy shut the door, he looked back at Hailey Smith, who remained motionless.
Hardy looked through the crack as people walked away, finally regretting, "That woman was really beautiful. If not for today’s important matters, I would find a way to keep them here, rob money and people."
Hardy indeed did not grow suspicious, after all, no one would rescue someone with such a sickly beauty.
Hailey Smith listened, seething with anger at this already rotten person; she was foolish to be deceived by such a person.
Godfery Shaw and Nancy Allen walked farther, reconvening with their people, and in a gloomy tone said, "No, that person is very vigilant, not willing to leave the room, and Hailey Smith’s bomb is remotely controlled."
Everyone’s mood was heavy.
A remotely controlled bomb was even more troublesome.
The aide from before suggested, "Eldest young master, since we can’t lure him out, let’s directly confront him. Pretend to send ransom on behalf of Basil Smith, try to get him to first deliver Hailey Smith. Then we’ll say it’s a direct transaction for the bomb’s remote control. Such a simple bomb, Jacob can defuse it in ten seconds."
Clement immediately nodded, "I can do it."
Godfery Shaw agreed, needing Hailey to be sent back first so they could act.
Half of the people hidden emerged. Since they were pretending to be Basil Smith, Basil had to bring people.
They couldn’t bring too many; too many would make the kidnapper overly cautious.
They prepared a suitcase, placing money on the surface, padding it with other items underneath, as the bodyguard posed as Basil Smith and approached.
Directly calling from afar, "Hardy, where’s Hailey Smith? Didn’t you want a billion? I’ve brought it, release her immediately!"
Inside the room, Hardy’s face instantly changed.
He had only sent Basil Smith a message, waiting for Basil to contact him, and he never revealed his location.
Yet they managed to find him directly; Basil indeed now had some skills, with reach everywhere.
Luckily, he had tied explosives to Hailey Smith.
Hardy held a black market assembled gun, walking out of the house.
Yelling toward the distant bodyguards, "Stay put and don’t come closer. Don’t even think about killing me. Hailey Smith has bombs on her, the remote control is in my hand. Even if you die on the spot, before dying I can press the button, either give me money, or we all die together."
The bodyguard raised his hands, showing no intention of fighting back.
In all these years, Hardy truly couldn’t recognize Basil Smith.
Basil Smith rarely roamed outside; most times he was at the company. Hardy had been watching through the glass doorway of Cloudglow Tower, seeing only him from afar.
Hailey Smith had been running around outside, thereby being targeted.
Posing as Basil Smith, the bodyguard shouted, "Isn’t it just for the money? Don’t keep saying we’ll all die together. I’ve brought money, release her immediately."
Hardy grinned, "Basil Smith, haven’t seen you in years, hope you’ve been well. I know you’re smart, don’t play tricks with me, put the money down, and all your people retreat."
The bodyguard, acting clever, replied, "Since you know I’m smart, you should know I don’t trust you. I give you money, we retreat, and you do whatever with Hailey Smith?"
Hardy scowled, "Then how do you want to trade?"
The bodyguard replied immediately, "Alright, first hand over Hailey Smith to me, I’ll give you money and the remote control. I’ll provide a getaway car. The bomb on her is locked, if anything changes during the transaction, you can press the remote at any time."
Hardy silently considered, this house wasn’t his planned transaction location, but Basil arrived abruptly, leaving him unprepared.
He certainly didn’t want to take the money without living to spend it, besides, he had a backup plan ready.
Hardy agreed, "Fine, I can first give you her, but we need to change the transaction site to the dock not far from the village’s back."
The bodyguard frowned, the other side actually wanted a different transaction location.
But as long as Hailey Smith was released, and the bomb defused, everything else was manageable.
Thus, he nodded in agreement, "Fine."
