Reborn on Wedding Night: Flirting the Cold Bigshot into Blushes-Chapter 396: Personal Little Bodyguard
Julius Shaw didn’t see any of this as a problem and sent everyone away.
Everyone left, making Imperial Garden even quieter.
Julius Shaw liked this kind of quietness very much, as it made him feel he could live peacefully with Nancy Allen for a long time.
Nancy Allen was also accustomed to this tranquility, as she originally intended to happily be a couch potato.
The female bodyguards brought by Hailey Smith had their backgrounds thoroughly investigated to ensure there were no issues before they were allowed to stay at Imperial Garden to protect Nancy Allen.
The emotional journey of these female bodyguards was quite a roller coaster.
During training, it was only mentioned that there might be a chance to enter Imperial Garden.
Eventually, they received a sudden notice from their boss, directly entering the Imperial Garden Villa, even going up to the second-floor room and blocking Young Master Shaw.
After that, they were assigned to the outskirts of Imperial Garden.
Being in this position, they were all very satisfied.
But now, the boss told them they would be responsible for the close protection of the Young Madam going forward.
They knew from the first day of training what the Young Madam’s status was in Imperial Garden.
Protecting the Young Madam was an assignment even more significant than protecting the eldest Shaw family member!
Hailey Smith was still instructing: "Whether inside Imperial Garden or outside, you have the right to act against anyone harming the Young Madam."
A female bodyguard asked nervously, "Boss, what if it’s Young Master Shaw harming the Madam?"
Hailey Smith replied sternly, "Listen carefully, I mean anyone, including Young Master Shaw. Can you do it?"
"Yes, we are professionals!"
The people Hailey Smith trained all carried a similar aura of eccentric vigor.
The five female bodyguards felt like they were tasked with saving the world.
Hailey Smith said with satisfaction, "Among you, I need to select someone for the exclusive close protection."
A female bodyguard with bright, baby-faced eyes replied excitedly, "Does that mean I will eat and sleep with her?"
Hailey Smith rolled her eyes, "What are you thinking? Aren’t you afraid Young Master Shaw might skin you alive?"
"But if I don’t eat or sleep with her, how can I protect her 24/7?"
Hailey Smith thought it was reasonable and said through gritted teeth, "Luna Summer, you seem the bravest, so I’m choosing you. I’ll set up a sofa bed in the Young Madam’s room for you. Remember to be careful and don’t anger Young Master Shaw."
Luna Summer’s eyes sparkled, and she stood up straight, solemnly pledging like a scout, "Don’t worry, boss, I’ll complete the mission!"
After the meeting ended, the female bodyguards dispersed throughout Imperial Garden.
Luna Summer, being the chosen one, took her job seriously. She said close protection, and she meant it.
Young Master Shaw gave her a somewhat chilling look, but he neither drove her away nor scolded her.
At night.
When Luna Summer followed the Young Madam into the room, she noticed Young Master Shaw’s face darkened.
Luna, adept at reading people, quickly thought of her boss’s warning not to anger Young Master Shaw, rushed to the Young Madam’s side, and assured her vigorously, "Young Madam, you can sleep peacefully. With my protection, I’ll stay in the small room inside your suite."
Nancy Allen couldn’t help but laugh, looking at the young girl in front of her, she asked, "How old are you?"
Luna Summer thought the Young Madam might think she was too young and quickly said, "I’m seventeen, Young Madam! Don’t worry, I might be young, but I’m very skilled!"
Nancy Allen found the little bodyguard quite amusing and wasn’t sleepy, so she decided to tease her.
In a soft voice, she said, "At just seventeen, Hailey Smith dares to employ a minor, he should be punished."
Luna’s sweet smile disappeared instantly, and she seriously said, "Young Madam, it’s not the boss’s fault. I begged him to take me in. I didn’t know my age would get him in trouble. Please don’t punish him; I’ll leave Imperial Garden immediately."
Nancy asked, "So, you don’t want this job?"
Luna bit her lip, nodded, then shook her head, "I want this job, but I can’t let it affect the boss; he is my benefactor."
Nancy was curious about where this young girl came from and why she was so protective of Hailey Smith.
Just as she was about to ask, she sensed a growing chill behind her.
Luna saw it too and shrank her neck.
Originally, she came to speak with the Young Madam to seek shelter from being driven away by Young Master Shaw. Now their conversation ignored him, further darkening his face.
But since she was about to leave Imperial Garden not to implicate her boss, it didn’t matter anymore.
It was then she heard the Young Madam say softly, "Alright, Luna, go rest. Seeing how loyal you are, Hailey Smith won’t be punished."
"Really?" Luna’s eyes lit up, and she softly asked, "Can I stay in the small room inside the suite? I promise I won’t make a sound."
The innocent look was almost impossible to refuse.
Nancy nodded in agreement.
Luna quickly ran into the small room, lay down immediately, and pulled the covers over her whole body, thinking if Young Master Shaw objected, she’d just play dead.
Through the not soundproof little door, she heard the Young Madam’s gentle voice speaking to Young Master Shaw, "Alright, let’s get some sleep, why fuss with a child."
The room outside fell silent.
After a while, Luna quietly opened the little door, peeking towards the Young Madam. In the faint night light, she saw Young Master Shaw also not sleeping on the bed but on the sofa, just like someone on night watch.
Sensing a piercing gaze from that direction, Luna quickly shut the little door.
Internally, she kept reminding herself, "Luna, don’t be afraid. You are professional!"
In the days that followed, Nancy Allen continued her usual lifestyle.
Luna Summer followed her like a shadow, being her constant companion.
Hailey Smith was quite impressed with Luna, primarily because he never expected Luna could actually manage to eat and sleep alongside the Young Madam and not be driven away by Young Master Shaw, who seemed to like her.
This period was the most relaxed Nancy had lived in two lifetimes, as she didn’t have to think about anything.
In her thoughts, this was the happy life she had once fantasized about living with Godfery Shaw.
However, some things were ultimately deceptive.
People living under a facade will one day be exposed.
Nancy used to think about Sophie Allen and the others, but now she didn’t even consider bringing Sophie to Imperial Garden, as if subconsciously rejecting the idea.
In the short term, Nancy didn’t notice anything odd.
But as time went on, she began to sense something was amiss.
Half a month passed quickly, and the weather grew colder.
While others only switched to early winter clothes, Nancy was already bundled up.
Nancy’s body was quite delicate; she found the air conditioning uncomfortable and the underfloor heating too dry. She preferred the simplest hot water bottle, had switched to a warm down duvet, but still felt cold at night, like her body wasn’t generating heat.
At night, Julius Shaw asked worriedly, "Nancy, are you still cold?"
Nancy replied with a helpless smile, "Maybe it’s from lack of exercise; I feel like my body doesn’t generate heat."
Nearby, Luna heard this and immediately wanted to volunteer herself as a bed warmer.
But before she could say it, Young Master Shaw’s dangerous gaze stopped her.
That look seemed to say if she dared to spew nonsense, he would eliminate her.
Luna, being perceptive, swallowed her words and instead said, "Men are usually warmer. Let the master warm up Young Madam’s bed, and winter won’t feel cold."
Julius Shaw withdrew his dangerous gaze.
His slightly raised eyebrows showed he was quite pleased with Luna’s sense of timing.
