Reborn on Wedding Night: Flirting the Cold Bigshot into Blushes-Chapter 445: I Promised to Return Your Brother, I Won’t Go Back on My Word
Julius Shaw saw Nancy Allen not moving, and still lowering her head looking down.
He said softly, "Nancy, don’t look down, don’t be afraid, hurry up."
Nancy felt a bit uneasy, looking at Julius Shaw from a high place, it seemed as if Julius Shaw was standing on the edge of an abyss, trying to push her towards the light. It felt like if she climbed up without turning back, Julius Shaw would fall into the abyss.
The car was still slowly sinking, and Julius Shaw remained inside.
But Nancy couldn’t refuse Julius Shaw pushing her to safety, because refusing would only create an even greater crisis.
Julius Shaw tried hard to lift Nancy higher, allowing her to cling to the outside ground.
Nancy stopped thinking deeply, gritted her teeth and stepped on Julius Shaw’s palm, climbing out from that crevice in the ground.
Once outside, Nancy lay flat on the ground, reaching her hand towards the crevice, calling out, "Julius Shaw, hurry up and grab my hand."
Nancy’s voice was already trembling, as she looked at the teetering car, her heart couldn’t control the panic.
Seeing Nancy safe, Julius Shaw didn’t immediately step out, because the position he was in happened to keep the car balanced and prevent it from falling. If he left, the car would drop.
Julius Shaw was very calm in the crevice, observing the surroundings and footholds.
Nancy didn’t understand the situation, only nervously said, "Julius Shaw, what’s wrong? Hurry up, the car is sinking! It’s about to fall!"
The light was inadequate, and many places in the crevice seemed solid but might not be secure. Julius Shaw had no time left, roughly gauged the pressure points, and unlike the cautious, slow way he lifted Nancy earlier, he swiftly jumped out of the car in a few moves.
He leaped out, and with a rumble, the car lost its balance and dropped down, and Julius Shaw seemed to fall along with it.
"Ah!" Nancy screamed.
She didn’t dare to close her eyes, yet in that extreme terror, there was a moment of blindness, unable to see the situation in the crevice.
The next moment, Julius Shaw’s slightly rapid breathing sounded from deeper down, with an appeasing tone, "Nancy, don’t be afraid. I promised to return my brother to you after three months; I won’t break my word. I’m out of the car now, but I can’t climb up. Even if I fall now, I will just get injured; the firefighters can easily rescue me."
He wasn’t afraid of death, but he wanted to return his brother to her.
Nancy lay at the edge of the crevice, hearing these words, her whole being inundated with sadness.
She wanted to say she cared about more than just Godfery Shaw; she didn’t want Julius Shaw to get hurt either, but... she couldn’t articulate it; she had no right to say such things.
She only trembled as she spoke, "Then don’t move, hold on and don’t fall, the firefighters should be here soon, let’s wait for them to rescue us."
Julius Shaw had his back against the wall, his hand bracing on a reachable protrusion, blood trickling down his arm.
He held still, letting his breathing gradually stabilize before replying, "Okay, I won’t move."
And so, the two were in silence, one in darkness and one in light.
Just like when they first met.
He, in the small dark room, looking at her who was passing candy from outside the door.
Julius Shaw looked up at Nancy, suddenly smiled and said, "Nancy, I thought about celebrating my birthday once."
Nancy instantly thought back to the last birthday.
Thought of that painting.
Thought of the madness when she tore her relationship with Julius Shaw apart.
All of it made Nancy instinctively want to escape, but at this moment, she wouldn’t refuse Julius Shaw’s request. She said softly, "Okay, once you come up, we’ll celebrate the birthday again."
"My birthday is the 28th of this month."
"Yes, I’ll remember."
Nancy didn’t know what this birthday meant to Julius Shaw. At this moment, she was just afraid Julius Shaw couldn’t hold on and would fall, and wanted to talk to him to give him some motivation.
But while talking, Julius Shaw slid down a bit.
Nancy became anxious and said, "Don’t talk and lose focus, don’t move, don’t move!"
Julius Shaw obediently stopped talking.
Nancy just lay on the ground, reaching her hand towards Julius Shaw’s direction, as if extending her hand might be able to grab him.
She clearly knew that the person who first pushed her towards safety was Julius Shaw.
Regardless of the difference between Godfery Shaw and Julius Shaw, in protecting her, they were both equally ready to risk their lives.
For just a moment, Nancy evasively wished she knew nothing, like in the previous life, ignorant of the two personalities within Godfery Shaw and Julius Shaw, only taking Godfery Shaw’s shifting emotions without needing to choose.
But once this escape mentality sprouted, Nancy felt increasingly sorrowful, as if it were a betrayal to Godfery Shaw.
The voice of Julius Shaw soothingly came from the crevice, "Nancy, don’t cry."
Nancy hurriedly raised her hand to wipe away the tears at her eye corners, only realizing she was crying without knowing when.
They waited in silence for a long time, at least it seemed to Nancy like ages passing by, until the firefighter rescue finally arrived.
Once the firefighters arrived, with the most professional tools and rescue methods, they quickly rescued Julius Shaw from the crevice, and Nancy finally saw a large wound on Julius Shaw’s arm, tearing his clothes, bloody and mangled.
Nancy’s eyes gradually glazed over, feeling like she was a disaster star, and with her, whether it was Godfery Shaw or Julius Shaw, they always got hurt.
A firefighter concernedly said to Julius Shaw, "Your wound is too deep, it needs suturing, we’ll take you to the hospital."
Julius Shaw coldly refused, "No need."
"Then we’ll do some temporary bandaging, you can go to the hospital yourself."
"No need."
"Why are you so obstinate? This road segment has collapsed, the entrance is blocked off, yet you insist on going in, and now that you’re hurt you won’t go to the hospital, you young people mess around like this, you’ll regret it if something happens."
Seeing Julius Shaw surrounded by people, his breathing became increasingly agitated.
Julius Shaw wasn’t unaware of good intentions; he knew the firefighters meant well, but his inherent malicious aggression seemed uncontrollable.
Nancy snapped out of her despondency and hurriedly stepped forward, saying to everyone, "Sorry, he has a strange temperament, I’m taking him to the hospital now, we didn’t knowingly intrude on this road, we didn’t see the blockage signs when we came in."
A firefighter puzzled, "How could you not see? It was clearly blocking the entrance."
Nancy and Julius Shaw met eyes, having gone through too many conspiracies, they immediately suspected, was someone trying to harm them?
After the firefighter spoke, he hurriedly added, "Let’s discuss this later, he’s still bleeding, quickly take him to the hospital."
At this moment, Basil Smith and his team arrived.
Julius Shaw had informed Basil Smith when notifying the firefighters.
He never liked to entrust his life to anyone; he trusted no one, Basil Smith was at least more trustworthy than others.
Once Basil Smith arrived, he sent his subordinates to negotiate with the firefighters.
He himself sat in the driver’s seat, saying to Julius Shaw and Nancy, "Second Young Master, Young Madam, get in the car, Second Young Master needs his wound treated ASAP."
Nancy and Julius Shaw quickly got into the car.
Basil Smith asked, "Should we go to the nearest hospital or back to the Imperial Garden?"
Julius Shaw calmly said, "Back to the Imperial Garden."
Because of Nancy’s acute reaction to hospitals, even though the hospital was closer, Julius Shaw chose to return to the Imperial Garden.
