Reborn to Become A Queen: The Real Heiress's Comeback-Chapter 415: Si Jun’s Heartbreaking Despair!
Chapter 415: Chapter 415: Si Jun’s Heartbreaking Despair!
They were terrified, their backs chilled as they stumbled and crawled into Si Jun’s room, shouting, "Prince, something terrible has happened!"
Si Jun, who had just managed to fall asleep, heard the guards’ shouts and roared angrily, "What are you shouting for?!"
"Prince... You—please come out and see for yourself!" the guard stammered nervously.
Si Jun threw on his outer robe, face dark with fury as he got out of bed, already thinking that if this was nothing serious, he’d kill the guard on the spot for disturbing him.
He opened the door and followed the guard outside.
Before they even reached the gates of Prince Wei Mansion, Si Jun caught the thick stench of blood in the air.
His steps grew slower and heavier, and as Hei Yu and the Death Guards had yet to return, an ominous thought formed in Si Jun’s mind.
Finally, the guard lifted a torch to illuminate the scene before him, and the gates of Prince Wei Mansion emerged into view.
When Si Jun saw what lay before him, every hair on his body stood on end. He began trembling uncontrollably, his blood boiling, and with a sudden gush, he spat out a mouthful of blood.
"Prince..." The guard hurried to support Si Jun, who almost collapsed.
Si Jun’s hands trembled, his eyes bloodshot, as he saw corpses hanging by hemp ropes from the beams above the mansion’s gates—all the Death Guards he had sent to capture Zhan Lan.
Among them, the central corpse’s eyes were wide open, wearing only undergarments, their entire body disfigured beyond recognition from torture.
From the victim’s eyes alone, Si Jun identified their identity.
"Hei Yu... I’ll kill them! I swear I’ll kill them!" Si Jun screamed like a madman, clutching Hei Yu’s corpse.
Hei Yu was his most trusted and capable Death Guard Commander, unmatched in martial arts!
And yet, under Zhan Lan and Mu Yan’s torment, Hei Yu had suffered unbearable pain and was finally hung to death before his very gates.
Si Jun wept uncontrollably, tears streaming as he noticed Hei Yu’s tendons had been severed and his body had endured unspeakable torture.
Though Si Jun was usually indifferent and coldhearted, Hei Yu was an exception.
Hei Yu had been like an extension of his own arm, and the sheer agony of losing him was a pain no one could fathom!
"Ahhh..." Si Jun howled at the heavens before collapsing and fainting from overwhelming sorrow.
"Prince!" The guards quickly supported Si Jun and brought him back into the room.
When Si Jun woke again, he saw the corpses in the courtyard. Stumbling, he made his way to Hei Yu’s body, his tears burning as they fell. He reached out to close Hei Yu’s eyes, which had remained wide open.
Si Jun’s face twisted in torment, his bloodshot eyes seething, as he declared with crackling voice, "Hei Yu, this prince will avenge you... for sure...!"
...
The dark night passed, and by dawn the next morning, at Regent Prince Mansion, Xue Lingling woke with a pounding headache.
Once again, she realized the true power of alcohol.
Feeling groggy, she got up and rubbed her eyes, heading toward the bathhouse. She pushed the door open, ready to step in.
Inside, she saw a man. His muscles were sculpted, his shoulders broad, waist narrow, and long legs powerful. He was facing away from her, about to take off the last cover of clothing.
Vermilion Bird sensed Xue Lingling’s gaze and swiftly grabbed a nearby garment to drape over himself.
Vermilion Bird glared at Xue Lingling in flustered embarrassment and reproached, "Didn’t you see the sign outside?"
Xue Lingling stared at his abs and replied, "Nope."
Vermilion Bird pulled his clothing tightly over himself, his ears flush with redness, and said, "Get out."
Xue Lingling suddenly laughed, "Hmm, little Vermilion Bird, you’re not angry anymore, huh? Have you moved back in to live with me?"
Vermilion Bird coldly replied, "If not for the Master and Madam ordering me to protect you, I wouldn’t even think about coming back!"
Xue Lingling grinned cheerfully, "Did you see Xiao Tao?"
Vermilion Bird took a few quick steps forward, pushing Xue Lingling out of the bathroom. As he pushed, he exclaimed, "Do you not understand the difference between men and women? Are you looking to watch me bathe?"
After being shoved out, Xue Lingling opened a crack in the door and teased the furious Vermilion Bird, "Little Vermilion Bird, your body is so burly!"
Vermilion Bird’s face turned scarlet, and he locked the door from inside, only to realize the latch was broken—which explained how Xue Lingling had managed to push the door open so easily.
Xue Lingling gleefully returned to her room, rolling on her bed in delight, thinking to herself: Vermilion Bird is back! Now he can take her out to play again!
After finishing his bath, Vermilion Bird stood at Xue Lingling’s door and called out, "Xue Lingling, come out."
Xue Lingling poked her head out and asked, "Are we going out to play, little Vermilion Bird?"
Vermilion Bird tapped her head lightly and asked, "Do you have a brother?"
Xue Lingling nodded, "Yes, of course!"
"Your brother’s here looking for you," Vermilion Bird informed her with a frosty expression.
"Ah, where is he?" Xue Lingling exclaimed and took a sudden step back.
She didn’t want her brother dragging her back home to get married.
Vermilion Bird crossed his arms and asked, "Are you afraid of your brother?"
Xue Lingling puffed out her chest and replied, "I’m not afraid of him—he’s afraid of me!"
"Then why are you hiding?" Vermilion Bird frowned.
Xue Lingling looked around furtively and answered, "I don’t want to get married. My brother must be here to grab me for that!"
"Your brother snuck into the mansion last night with the intent to assassinate..." Vermilion Bird’s voice was chillingly flat.
Xue Lingling stepped forward a few paces with a serious expression and said, "My brother wouldn’t do that; he wouldn’t kill recklessly!"
She paused for a moment before adding, "Unless... unless someone presented him with a contract he couldn’t refuse..."
Vermilion Bird sighed, "Last night, the Prince and Princess were nearly injured."
Xue Lingling felt deeply guilty and said, "Little Vermilion Bird, I have a solution. Next time my brother comes, my poisonous insect can sense it."
Vermilion Bird’s eyes lit up, "You can sense him? Then why didn’t you say so last night..."
Xue Lingling widened her eyes at Vermilion Bird and responded, "Weren’t we flying in the skies last night? I was drunk; I don’t remember."
Vermilion Bird: "..."
Meanwhile, on another side of Regent Prince Mansion...
The morning sunlight filtered through the window onto a small sandalwood bed.
Mu Yan held Zhan Lan in his arms, their bodies closely entwined.
Mu Yan opened his eyes, gazing at Zhan Lan in high spirits. His little lady had slept soundly through the night.
Zhan Lan rubbed her eyes and looked up at Mu Yan. He caressed her cheek and asked, "Why not sleep a bit longer?"
Zhan Lan smiled and answered, "As the Princess, just thinking about Si Jun’s reaction gets me excited."
In her previous life, the way Si Jun had treated her subordinates—she was determined to repay him tenfold!
If Si Jun saw Hei Yu’s battered and tortured corpse dangling in front of his mansion gate, his reaction would surely be entertaining.
Mu Yan gently touched the tip of Zhan Lan’s nose and teased, "Lan’er, if you anger Si Jun to death, how am I supposed to have fun next?"
