Reborn With A Technology System In A Fantasy World-Chapter 64: Dealing With A Wolf Pack
Chapter 64: Dealing With A Wolf Pack
The dense canopy of trees swallowed the light as Adrian approached the wolf territory, his Power Suit humming faintly with energy.
As he approached closer; seven pairs of glowing amber eyes soon locked onto him, their forms materializing from the shadows like wraiths.

The Shadow Wolves were sleek, their fur a swirling mix of black and gray that seemed to drink in the dim light.
Adrian had expected to have the advantage of surprise, but the wolves had already scented him. Before he could fully process their speed, they charged.
"Damn, they’re fast!" Adrian cursed under his breath, raising the mana gun. He squeezed the trigger, unleashing a pulse of blue mana that streaked through the air like a comet.

The shot went wide, scorching a nearby tree as the lead wolf closed the distance in a blur.
Its claws raked across his chest, the impact jarring but leaving only a faint scratch on the Power Suit’s dark alloy. The suit’s durability absorbed the blow, and Adrian exhaled in relief, grateful for the suit’s resilience.
He adjusted his stance, planting his feet as Master Von had drilled into him. The wolf lunged again, but Adrian was ready.
He drove his fist into its side with all his strength, the suit amplifying the blow into a bone-crunching strike.
The wolf yelped, stumbling back. But before Adrian could follow up with a shot with the gun, a second wolf slashed at his side, its claws grazing the armor.
The attack disrupted his balance, forcing him to stagger slightly.
Before he could readjust, in an instant; the entire pack was on him.
Seven wolves, their movements a chaotic blur of claws and teeth, swarmed him from all angles.
Their shadow magic made them flicker in and out of visibility, their forms blending with the forest’s darkness.
Claws raked across his arms, legs, and back, each strike chipping away at the Power Suit’s integrity.

"Already?!" Adrian growled, his heart pounding as he fought to keep his footing.
The wolves were relentless, their attacks coordinated with terrifying precision. One leapt for his throat, but he ducked, the suit’s reflexes saving him from a critical hit.
Another clamped its jaws around his leg, the pressure intense but not enough to pierce the alloy. He swung his fist again, knocking one wolf back, but the others pressed their advantage, slashing and biting without pause.
"I need space!" Adrian roared, summoning every ounce of strength the suit could muster. He planted his feet and shoved outward and the pack scattered momentarily, giving him just enough room to break free.
Adrian sprinted away immediately after and after he had gotten some distance between himself and the wolves, he positioned his gun.
’No time to charge,’ he thought, opting for rapid-fire pulses. He squeezed the trigger repeatedly, sending a barrage of blue mana bolts streaking toward the charging wolves.
The shots were less powerful than a charged blast, but their speed made up for it. Multiple pulses struck true, but they only managed to hit two wolves. As with each hit, the chances of another increased.
Both beasts collapsed.

The notifications flashed across his vision, but Adrian had no time to celebrate. The remaining five wolves were already closing in, their forms flickering with shadow magic as they dodged his shots with unnatural speed.
The wolves soon approached him in a split second, all five of them slashing at his back. The suit held, but the system chimed again:
[Durability: 60%]
"Too fast!" Adrian gritted his teeth, breaking free once more. He sprinted again, weaving through the trees to gain another moment of reprieve.
He soon stopped to face the approaching wolves, proceeding to unleash another volley of rapid mana pulses.
The bolts lit up the dim forest, three striking their marks.
One wolf took a hit to the head, collapsing instantly. Another was caught in the flank, stumbling before falling.
The third was grazed but kept coming, only to be finished off by a follow-up shot.

’Three down, two to go.’ Adrian’s chest heaved, not from exhaustion but from the adrenaline coursing through him.
The remaining two wolves were on him before he could do anything, their speed even more ferocious now that the pack was diminished.
One leapt, its jaws aiming for his arm, while the other flanked him, claws gleaming with shadow-infused malice.
Adrian took a calculated risk. He let the first wolf clamp onto his left wrist, its teeth grinding against the suit with terrifying force. Pain shot through his arm as the pressure mounted, the suit’s nanites straining to hold together. The system blared:
[Durability: 50%]
Ignoring the pain, Adrian raised the mana gun with his right hand, aiming at the second wolf charging straight for him.
He fired a point-blank shot, the pulse exploding into the wolf’s skull. The beast’s head disintegrated in a spray of blood and bone, its body collapsing lifelessly.
[Congratulations! You have killed a magical beast!]
The remaining wolf tightened its grip on his wrist, its jaws exerting crushing force. The suit’s durability plummeted further:
[Durability: 44%]
Adrian’s arm screamed in agony, the pressure threatening to break through the alloy.
Gritting his teeth, he swung his right arm, positioning the mana gun against the wolf’s head.
"Get off!" he shouted, pulling the trigger. The pulse obliterated the wolf’s skull, blood and fur spraying across his armor as the beast’s grip slackened and it fell limp.
[Congratulations! You have killed a magical beast!]
Adrian stumbled back, panting heavily. The forest was silent now, the oppressive weight of the wolves’ presence gone.
He collapsed onto the ground, lying on his back as he caught his breath.
"That... was exhilarating."
He gasped as a shaky grin spread beneath his mask. The suit had held up, barely, and he was alive.
The rush of victory surged through him, mingling with the throbbing pain in his left arm.
He took a moment to calm himself, breathing deeply as he stared up at the tangled canopy above.
"Tech Core," he said after a pause, "harvest all the Magic Crystals and store the corpses. Leave one behind."
[Processing... Magic Crystals harvested. Corpses stored in Inventory. One corpse retained as requested.]
The wolves’ bodies vanished in a shimmer of light, their crystals and remains neatly stored in his [Inventory].
One corpse remained, sprawled across the forest floor, its dark fur matted with blood. Adrian pushed himself to his feet, wincing as he moved his left arm.
The pain was sharp but manageable. He had learned that mana in the bodies of Ascended accelerated healing, and he was grateful for it.
"Tech Core, display current durability," he said, glancing at the holographic panel that flickered to life.
[Durability: 43%]
"Pitiful," he muttered, shaking his head. "Tech Core, how does the Self-Repair feature work? How long does it take to regenerate over time?"
[The PowerSuit regenerates 20% durability every 24 hours]
Adrian nodded in relief. "Good. I won’t need to waste TP on repairs just yet." He flexed his injured arm, grimacing at the lingering pain.
"I’ll manage," he told himself, trusting the Ascended’s recovery to handle the rest.
He approached the remaining wolf corpse, retrieving a knife from his [Inventory].
The blade, one he’d enchanted himself, gleamed with an unnatural sharpness.
He also pulled out a sturdy bag, setting it beside the corpse.
Kneeling, he began the meticulous process of butchering the beast. His movements were precise, the enchanted knife slicing through fur and flesh with ease.
He carved away choice cuts of meat, then carefully extracted several bones; more than enough to fulfill the mission’s requirements.
The task was gruesome but Adrian worked with the efficiency of someone who’d prepared for this moment.
Once finished, he packed the bones into the bag, then after a moment of thought, he retrieved 2 of the wolves Magic Crystals and threw them into the bag too, before storing it into his [Inventory].
The forest was quiet now, the mana signatures on his map indicating that there was no real threat near him.
He stood, brushing dirt from his armor, and took one last look at the battlefield. The scratches on his PowerSuit glinted faintly, a reminder of how close the fight had been.
"Time to head back," he said, his voice steady despite the ache in his arm. He dismissed the holographic map with a thought and set off.

After over an hour of navigating the forest, Adrian got to the boundary. He paused there, taking a deep breath.
"Deactivate PowerSuit," he commanded. The nanites dissolved in a shimmering cascade, the suit retracting into nothingness.
He retrieved the mana gun from his grip, storing it in his [Inventory] with a thought.
Reaching in again, he pulled out the sturdy bag containing the Shadow Wolf bones and two Magic Crystals.
Adrian checked the bag’s contents, ensuring everything was okay. Satisfied, he squared his shoulders and stepped through the outpost’s formation, the magical barrier rippling as he crossed back into safety, ready to turn in his mission.
