Reborn with Steve Stand-Chapter 820: Difference between Biblical God and Greek God
Upon hearing Fang Mo's words, the group finally realized the gravity of the situation.
“W-wait…” Kitty's face tensed, clearly struggling to accept the terrifying truth. “Celestial, you're joking with us, right?”
“Y-yeah,” Bobby (Iceman) also sounded disbelieving. “You're one of the original X-Men, hailed as the Celestial. There's no way you'd do something like this. If you help us, we could surely save the world…”
As mentioned earlier, Fang Mo was active during the timeline around *X-Men: First Class*, back when the Cold War was raging. At that time, this new generation of X-Men hadn’t even been born. Although Fang Mo returned once, they were still just kids and didn’t have much contact with him.
Most of the information they knew about Fang Mo came from what their seniors had mentioned. But people like Professor X or Darwin, who were inherently kind, only spoke of Fang Mo's significant contributions to the world and the academy.
As for Fang Mo’s frustrating personality, no one, including Wolverine, ever bothered to mention it. This resulted in Kitty, Peter, Bobby, and others having a somewhat skewed perception of him.
It was akin to new believers reading only the New Testament, thinking of God as gentle and loving—only to have an old scroll of the Old Testament handed to them by some Jewish man. The shock, to say the least, would be profound, even shattering their worldview.
“Sorry,” Fang Mo shook his head slowly, shattering their illusions. “This world has no value left to save. Destruction is the best outcome.”
The group was left in complete disbelief, exchanging looks of confusion and despair. If any other mutant had declared an intent to destroy the world, they would have tried to stop them. Even if they couldn’t, the Sentinels would have prevented such a mutant from succeeding.
But this man in front of them was far too powerful.
He had effortlessly wiped out the nightmare-inducing Sentinels with a simple wave of his hand. His casual attacks had turned an area of over ten kilometers into scorched earth. This was no longer just a difference between mutant power levels—this was a gap between mortals and gods. The title “Celestial” suddenly felt all too fitting.
He was truly as powerful as a god.
The more they thought about it, the more hopeless they felt. They had believed that their prayers had been answered, that they had finally found their savior. Instead, it seemed they had summoned a harbinger of destruction. How could they possibly stop him without being obliterated in an instant?
“Celestial, I…” Kitty tried to speak up again, but before she could finish, Wolverine (Logan) suddenly intervened.
“Alright, kids, calm down.” Logan gestured for the group to quiet down, then pulled Fang Mo aside. “Let me talk to him.”
With Fang Mo’s cooperation, Logan led him away to a nearby clearing.

“You bastard!” The moment they reached the clearing, Logan couldn’t hold back anymore. He grabbed Fang Mo by the collar and punched him. “You promised you’d be back soon! We waited for you for decades!”
“Dude, you can’t blame me for that,” Fang Mo rubbed his head, unaffected by the punch. “I came back as fast as I could, but have you considered that time flows differently? Ever heard the saying ‘One day in heaven, a year on Earth’? That’s pretty much what happened to me.”
Fang Mo wasn’t lying. Since he had last left, he had only visited the neighboring Arad continent and fought in the Holy Grail War in the *Fate* universe. He had spent no more than a month on Arad, and the *Fate* war lasted only a few days. But the nature of the *Book of Ages* meant that every time he crossed over, he would end up at some key point in history, often during major events.
The *X-Men* timeline, infamous for its chaotic jumps, didn’t help either. Even if Fang Mo stayed away for only a few days, decades might have passed when he returned. The last time he left for just a quick trip, Logan ended up drifting at sea for 18 years.
“I thought you’d never come back,” Logan said heavily, releasing Fang Mo’s collar. “Do you know how many people we’ve lost over the years?”
“I can imagine,” Fang Mo replied. “Judging by the numbers here, most of them are probably dead, right?”
“Some of them were just kids,” Logan turned away, his hardened face showing a trace of sorrow. “I’ve been through many wars, but nothing has felt as hopeless as this.”
“That’s why this world is beyond saving,” Fang Mo spread his hands. “Even if you rebuild, the damage caused by the Sentinels is worse than the Snap in *Avengers*. I may be powerful, but even I can’t resurrect billions of people.”
Logan fell silent, pulling out a foil-wrapped cigar. He lit it, took a deep drag, and let the smoke curl around him.
After a while, Logan extinguished the cigar, tucked it away, and looked back at Fang Mo.
“Alright, spill it,” Logan said, cutting straight to the point. “What do you want us to do this time?”
“I really did come here just to destroy the world—”
“Cut the crap,” Logan interrupted. “Even if you wanted to play god, you'd still need a Noah’s Ark before wiping everything out, wouldn’t you?”
“Uh…”
“You’ve always been like this,” Logan scowled, but there was a hint of trust and understanding in his expression. “When things are peaceful, you’re the most dangerous threat around. But when we’re really in trouble, you’ll fix everything.” ṞÁꞐօ𝐛ÈS
“Man, you get me,” Fang Mo replied earnestly.
“Shut up,” Logan barked, punching him again. “Act normal for once!”
“Alright, alright,” Fang Mo coughed lightly and adjusted his tone. “You’re right. I do have a solution, but I’ll need your help.”
“I knew it,” Logan exhaled in relief.
“But I wasn’t lying about destroying the world,” Fang Mo shrugged. “This world is beyond saving. Before we reboot it, I might as well enjoy myself for a bit. I’ve been wanting to burn a glass sphere for ages…”
“Reboot?” Logan caught the word. “What does that mean?”
“Exactly what it sounds like,” Fang Mo explained. “We’ll travel back in time, kill the creator of the Sentinel program, and prevent them from ever being built.”
“You can travel back in time?” Logan asked, surprised.
“Technically, yes. The book says so… I just haven’t read it fully yet,” Fang Mo admitted, looking slightly shifty. “But we have other help. You saw that mutant, Kitty, right? Her powers can help with time travel.”
“Kitty? Shadowcat?” Logan blinked. “Her power is to phase through objects.”
“Yes, through matter,” Fang Mo explained. “She can now phase a person’s consciousness through time, sending them back to alter the past.”
“Got it,” Logan processed quickly. “So, you want to use her ability to go back and stop the Sentinel program from ever happening. But if she can do that, why haven’t they done it already?”
“Because normal brains can’t handle that kind of time jump,” Fang Mo said. “At most, they can travel back a week. But we need to go back decades, which would tear a normal brain apart.”
“So, we need someone whose brain can rapidly regenerate, and who can carry out the mission,” Logan concluded. “Like me.”
“Bingo,” Fang Mo patted Logan on the shoulder. “Charles probably thought of this too. I’ve got some questions for him anyway. He’s in the ship, right?”
“Wait, I’ve got another question,” Logan said. “If you’re going to destroy the world, even if we change history, won’t it be pointless if you wipe everything out?”
“Oh, that,” Fang Mo explained casually. “If we succeed in changing history, everything that exists now—including you—will disappear. The butterfly effect will erase everything in the present… kind of like the grandfather paradox.”
“You’ve only ever mentioned your friend killing his grandfather, but never explained the time travel part,” Logan noted.
“Uh?”
“And what do you mean by ‘everything will disappear’?” Logan pressed.
“Exactly what it sounds like,” Fang Mo replied with a shrug. “If we succeed, everything here will be wiped out. That’s the whole point of *X-Men: Days of Future Past*—once the plan works, the current reality ceases to exist.”
“Alright, no need to worry then,” Fang Mo said, patting Logan on the back. “I’ve got a solution, but I need to talk to Charles first. He hasn’t kicked the bucket yet, has he?”
“Professor’s in the cockpit,” Logan sighed. “You know, his legs are still giving him trouble.”
“I thought I fixed his legs last time?”
“…they’re paralyzed again,” Logan groaned. “He tried to protect the school and got beaten down by Sentinels. If we hadn’t shown up in time, he would’ve died.”
“And the golden toilet?”
“The Sentinels took it.”
Logan sighed again. “They’re our worst nightmare. Unlike you, none of us can fight them.”
“Good grief,” Fang Mo muttered, unsure of how to respond.
After a brief exchange, Logan led Fang Mo aboard the ship, with the others following behind. The Sentinels might have been dealt with for now, but there were more stationed globally. Reinforcements would arrive soon, and they would be in danger again.
Once everyone was on board, Storm (Ororo) took control of the ship, while Logan guided Fang Mo to Charles Xavier.
“You finally came,” Charles said with a sigh, looking more worn than before, his face showing signs of old age.
“Hey, next time, how about I give you cobalt legs?” Fang Mo quipped as he saw Charles in his wheelchair. “Cobalt-60 legs, durable and smooth as silk…”
“Professor!” Several of the X-Men rushed to Charles, clearly emotional. Kitty hugged him tightly.
“My dear children, I’m glad you’re all safe,” Charles said softly, patting Kitty’s head. “You’ve all done well.”
“Professor,” Kitty said suddenly, looking up at Charles. “Celestial… he said he’s going to destroy the world!”
“…What?” Charles seemed momentarily stunned.
“Kitty, don’t say that,” Logan quickly intervened, knowing the full context. “It’s not what you think!”
“What’s wrong with me destroying the world?” Fang Mo interjected with a righteous tone. “I was even planning to take a few good people with me before the destruction, but since you ratted me out, Kitty, guess what? You’re staying here.”
“Wha—”
“You should be grateful I’m a Biblical god, not a Greek one,” Fang Mo said, shaking his head. “All I plan to do is flood the world. If I were Zeus, you know what would happen?”
The group exchanged glances, unsure of what to expect. “What would happen?”
“RAPE!” Fang Mo shouted, slamming his hand down.
