Reborn with Steve Stand-Chapter 831: Mutants are Life Too!!
“Wha…what the heck?”
Hearing the system prompt in his mind, Fang Mo froze for a moment.
Truth be told, he had no idea where this module had been unlocked from. He glanced around but didn’t see anything unusual, which felt baffling.
“What’s up?”
Seeing Fang Mo’s odd behavior, Logan asked in confusion.
“Well… have you ever heard of the ‘Heavenly Dao’?”
Fang Mo pondered briefly, then continued surveying his surroundings, trying to find the source of the new module’s activation.
“Heavenly Dao?”
Logan frowned. “What the heck is that?”
“I was just communing with the Heavenly Dao, and suddenly I was struck with an unprecedented flash of insight.” Fang Mo declared confidently. “You know, there’s a saying that Heaven and Earth comprise Yin and Yang. And on a certain level, Yin and Yang correspond to the two genders of human beings. I’ve now gained comprehension of the ‘Path of Yin’ within the Heavenly Dao…ahem. In short, I’ve obtained the power to ‘feminize all things.’”
“Feminize all things?”
Logan was startled. “What kind of nonsense power is that?”
“I am the Valkyrie of the Feminine Field, the Ruler of All Trap Maidens!” Fang Mo dramatically flung his hand in a sweeping gesture. “So please don’t call me a ‘god’ anymore. I now have a new title.”
“…And that is?”
Logan had a feeling Fang Mo was pulling off another wacky stunt but couldn’t prove it.
“The Lord of All Maids!”
Fang Mo said earnestly.
“If I had known this would happen, I’d never have let you avoid destroying the world,” Logan muttered, taking a deep breath. “Because here in 1973, there’s no medical cure for whatever’s wrong in your head…”
“Hey, what’s with that attitude?”
Hearing this, Fang Mo couldn’t hold back anymore and turned to glare at Logan. “Are you asking for trouble?”
“At least finish the real mission first, okay?” Logan rubbed his temples, exasperated. “After you save both mutants and humanity, and erase the Sentinel program, you can chop me up if you want.” ṜА𝐍Ồ𝖇Ęṧ
Hearing Logan’s plea, Fang Mo paused awkwardly for a moment. After all, Wolverine truly wanted to save the world, while Fang Mo was basically in it for the fun. So, thinking it over, Fang Mo nodded. “Fine. Then I’ll—”
However, he had barely begun his sentence when the system prompt rang out in his mind again:
[System Notice: The module download is complete. Load now?]
[System Notice: Module loaded successfully.]
[System Notice: Because you’ve downloaded and activated a brand-new module, you’ve received a Lucky Block. It will randomly draw an item from any known module.]
As that voice echoed in his head, information about this new module flowed into Fang Mo’s mind.
It was the Monster Moe-fication Module. Even from the name alone, one could guess its function: in Minecraft, it simply swaps regular monster models for cuter ones. Essentially, it’s a cosmetic mod in the game.
In the game, it’s purely for aesthetics. And since it doesn’t add any new items, it’s technically a “functionality mod.”
If Fang Mo remembered correctly, he had a similar functionality mod before—the Custom Steve Mod. While it wasn’t as wildly overpowered as [the mod that lets him devour everything], both are model-replacement mods and come in handy when pulling off weird stunts. Moreover, these “functionality mods” operate at a conceptual god-tier level, and conceptual gods are never weak. Even this Monster Moe-fication Module is no exception.
From the information transmitted to his mind, Fang Mo gained a rough understanding of its abilities. Unlike the in-game version that simply re-skins monsters with cuter models, once merged with Fang Mo himself, it apparently allows him to beautify—or “moe-fy”—almost any living entity.
By way of example:
He can’t “moe-fy” a single block of bedrock. But a Bedrock Golem would be fair game, because it’s a living entity. It triggers the module’s concept, forcing it to become a female “Bedrock Golem Maiden.” The same principle applies to humans and mutants, even birds and beasts—anything that walks, flies, or swims. As long as Fang Mo touches them and activates the concept, their very existence is overwritten into a new life-form. This new form generally matches Fang Mo’s personal notion of “beauty.”
In other words, it’s not just a simple biological “gender swap.” It’s also influenced by Fang Mo’s own sense of aesthetics.
Of course, the power does have some limitations. As mentioned, the moe-fication concept only applies to living entities with a consciousness; it doesn’t work on things like rocks, lakes, or air. However, as everyone knows, Minecraft becomes more unbalanced with each added mod, and the different modules often interact in ways that let players exploit loopholes or combine effects.
Take this Monster Moe-fication Module. In theory, it can’t transform objects that lack life or awareness. But Fang Mo also has the Life Enchantment module, which can imbue inanimate objects with life. That means, in theory, he could enchant Charles’s wheelchair, give it life, and then moe-fy it. One could only imagine how that anthropomorphic “wheelchair girl” would carry Charles around if he were paralyzed: princess-carry him? Let him ride on her like a mount? Or maybe just hoist him over her shoulder and stride off at top speed?
And what if he moe-fied that little wooden stick he always carries? Would “Stick-chan” come at Charles, rolling up her sleeves, threatening to bash his head in as soon as they met?
Lost in these thoughts, Fang Mo found himself quite tempted. He subconsciously glanced at Charles in the passenger seat, wearing a curious expression.
“What are you looking at?”
Charles, noticing Fang Mo’s gaze, grew suspicious. “Why are you staring at me like that?”
“Hey, no worries.”
Fang Mo put on a benevolent smile and waved him off. “I just thought of some interesting little experiments. Let’s finish what we came here for, and we’ll talk about it later.”
“…”
A sudden chill ran down Charles’s spine. He had a bad feeling Fang Mo was cooking up something unpleasant. But there was no time to pursue this hunch—he’d already detected Raven via telepathy, and they had to act fast.
“Raven is in the second-floor conference room,”
Charles said, forcing himself to ignore Fang Mo’s weird vibe. “They seem to be having a meeting. Bolivar [Trask] is already there. We have to hurry.”
“Understood.”
Erik responded, then drove the car toward the checkpoint. With a quick motion of his hand, the iron barrier at the entrance ripped free and knocked aside two guards. The gate rose automatically, and the group drove on through.
They did encounter more trouble along the way, but Charles’s telepathy made the guards practically ignore them. Before long, they pulled up to the building, switched off the engine, and walked straight inside, brushing past the security detail as they headed for the second floor.
Upon reaching the second floor, they heard a strange alarm.
“What’s that noise?”
Logan asked, frowning instinctively.
“It’s a mutant detector that Bolivar invented.” Charles was pressing two fingers to his temple, obviously using his abilities. “It’s picked up a mutant in the room. Raven’s cover is probably about to be blown. We have to—”
He hadn’t even finished speaking before Fang Mo kicked in the door to the conference room.
“!?”
Everyone’s heart skipped a beat at the sudden bang.
“Bolivar! You devil!”
Before they could react, Fang Mo’s outraged cry echoed in the conference room, “Today I’m going to expose your evil nature in front of everyone!”
“What?”
“Who… Who are you?”
“Guards! Where are the guards!?”
Chaos immediately erupted. High-level representatives from various countries were in the room discussing post-war affairs. Suddenly, a man they’d never seen before barged in, so of course they panicked.
“Who are you? Do I know you?”
Bolivar Trask was also taken aback. He was short of stature—due to a congenital condition—and resembled a dwarf. Glancing up at Fang Mo, Trask wore a look of utter confusion, as though he was trying to recall something.
In fact, Bolivar did know “Fang Mo the Celestial.” Fang Mo’s fearsome reputation was no secret; though few in that era knew of him, leaked CIA documents had revealed the existence of a terrifyingly powerful mutant capable of leveling part of Cuba single-handedly—an almost human nuclear bomb. It was precisely because of Fang Mo’s staggering power that Bolivar had resolved to deal with mutants at all costs.
Unfortunately, Fang Mo had now used the Custom Steve Mod to alter his appearance, making it impossible for Trask to recognize him.
“Bolivar, I’ve come to demand justice for us mutants!”
Fang Mo shouted dramatically.
“Mutants?!”

His sudden declaration alarmed the other representatives. Bolivar had just finished explaining how dangerous mutants could be, claiming they were immune to modern weapons and could easily kill ordinary humans. It was no wonder these people were terrified.
Even the soldiers present became wary, drawing their guns on Fang Mo.
“You’re a mutant?”
Trask finally grasped what was happening. “Ah, so you’re here to stop my Sentinel program. Unfortunately for you, it’s too late… William, seize him!”
“Yes, sir!”
William Stryker immediately pulled out a taser gun and aimed.
“Wait!”
Right then, Fang Mo slammed his palm on the table, shouting to everyone, “Gentlemen, I have something to say!”
“Don’t listen to him,” Bolivar quickly interrupted. “He’s trying to deceive you. Please, do not be swayed—”
“Hold on.”
Suddenly, a general seated at the far end of the conference table spoke up. “Mr. Trask, I granted you time to present your invention. I believe I should also grant this… mutant, is it?... the chance to speak.”
“General?”
A nearby subordinate looked at him in surprise.
But the general remained composed, staring calmly at Bolivar. Clearly, this “general” was no real general at all—he was Mystique (Raven) in disguise. Her real goal was to infiltrate the conference and find a chance to kill Bolivar, avenging her fallen mutant kin.
Just moments earlier, she almost exposed herself when Bolivar pulled out a strange gadget that beeped to detect mutants. Luckily, the next second, someone kicked the door open and charged in, so everyone assumed the alarm was triggered by that mutant, not her. Because of that, Raven could maintain her disguise a bit longer and see where this would all lead.
“Ahem. In that case, I’ll begin.”
Now that the tension in the room was under control, Fang Mo instinctively cast a glance in Mystique’s direction before slowly producing two documents from behind his back.
“First, this one.”
Fang Mo held up a file and then slapped it onto the table.
The assembled representatives leaned in. They saw a large, bold English heading in red ink. It looked like… “Mutant Lives Matter,” perhaps?
“What does that mean?”
The “general” (Mystique) asked, playing along.
“This Bolivar is actually a moral degenerate and a racist lunatic,” Fang Mo declared. “He believes all mutants should die. He has been secretly capturing large numbers of mutants and killing them in sadistic experiments.”
As he spoke, Fang Mo opened the file to reveal numerous recorded test protocols and graphic photos—mutants dissected in horrific ways. There were even pictures of Bolivar posing with their mutilated bodies. They were undeniably grisly images. Bolivar was shown wearing rubber gloves, kneeling on one knee to choke a mutant while holding a bloody scalpel, with rows of cold, menacing lab equipment in the background.
“Hmm? Wait…?”
Bolivar stared, dumbfounded. He had indeed dissected several mutants in private. But where had these photos come from? He didn’t recall ever taking pictures like that.
What surprised him most was that the expressions of the other officials barely changed.
“So…that’s it?”
Someone among them finally muttered. By the time officials reach a certain level, they care little about others’ lives. If the benefits are great enough, they’ll overlook atrocities committed against human test subjects, let alone the allegedly “dangerous” mutants.
“There’s more.”
Seeing their indifference, Fang Mo smirked and pulled out the second file. “This is another scientific report on the X-gene in mutant biology. According to the findings, the X-gene is latent in all normal humans. Which means…any one of you might spontaneously mutate into a mutant someday.”
“?!”
That revelation made their faces change drastically.
