Reborn Young Miss: Phoenix Burning Red-Chapter 428: Die, You Little B*tch (2)
When the news came out, the person who was most devastated was none other than Rosemary Zhao. She rushed to the hospital with her brother Reese and found Lennox seated outside the surgery room, his clothes bloodstained and his hands trembling with fear.
Rosemary’s knees weakened when she received the news of her daughter’s attack. She desperately hoped it wasn’t true, but seeing her son-in-law’s state, her worst fears were confirmed.
To think that her ex-husband would do such a heinous thing to their daughter, Rosemary couldn’t believe the cruelty that existed within him. She had hoped that he had changed and become a better person, but now all those hopes were shattered. The pain in her heart grew even more intense as she realized the long road to recovery that her daughter would have to face, both physically and emotionally.
Abigail had also rushed to the hospital, her face pale and her eyes filled with tears. When she saw her son’s sorry state, she hugged him and whispered, "Everything will be alright."
The ambulance came just in time and brought Adrienne to the nearest hospital. She lost quite a lot of blood, but they were able to save her life. However, since the cut was so deep, her uterus and one of her ovaries were damaged. She would need surgery to repair the damage, and her chances of getting pregnant in the future were uncertain.
However, none of this bothered Lennox. What mattered most to him was that she was alive and safe, regardless of the potential complications. The memory of her bloody and unconscious state earlier haunted him, and Lennox knew such a nightmare would forever plague him.
As for Lewis Jiang, he was brought to the police station and refused to cooperate with any of their questions. However, the dagger he used to stab Adrienne was filled with his fingerprints, and the blood on his clothes was enough evidence to prove his guilt.
With Lennox’s wealth and influence, he was able to give his wife the best medical team to treat her. After three days of surgery, they deemed Adrienne safe from any immediate danger. However, the doctors warned Lennox that there could still be long-term effects from her injuries. Despite this, Lennox remained hopeful and determined to support Adrienne throughout her recovery.
Adrienne was transferred from the ICU to a private room. Even though her mother and Myrtle were beside her, Lennox chose to stay with her, fearing that he might lose her. Noah and Scarlett were also visibly distressed when they heard the news. The young boy had suddenly stopped talking and refused to leave Adrienne’s side.
Another week had passed, and Adrienne remained unconscious. None of the doctors could predict when she would wake up. Lennox’s hope began to waver as he watched Adrienne lie motionless in the hospital bed. He couldn’t bear the thought of losing her.
"Addie, please..." Lennox begged her as he held her hand desperately. "Please wake up."
No matter how often he begged, Adrienne didn’t show any signs of waking up. As Lennox looked at his unresponsive wife, his eyes became dark and filled with anger. He wanted to tear Lewis Jiang apart for what he had done, but he knew seeking revenge wouldn’t bring Adrienne back.
Adrienne’s life wasn’t a trifling matter. Lennox knew that if something terrible happened to her, he would unleash his wrath and destroy anyone responsible. He and Adrienne wanted to live a peaceful life, yet others seemed determined to disrupt their happiness.
Lennox looked at Adrienne’s pale face with an unreadable expression. He had promised to protect her, and yet her father managed to hurt her under his watch. This didn’t sit well on him. He stood up and left his wife with her mother to step outside to clear his mind.
It was already late evening, and the hospital hallway was empty. Uncle Shark came and took in the darkness in Lennox’s eyes. He pulled the younger man’s wrist and led him somewhere out of earshot. Uncle Shark brought Lennox into the smoking area, where only a few people ventured.
"I know what you want to do, kid, but if Addie knows what you would do, she would disapprove of it." Uncle Shark confronted Lennox.
"But he dared to hurt my wife," Lennox said coldly. "Such impertinence can never be forgiven."
His eyes were layered with cold determination as he stared at Uncle Shark.
Uncle Shark had seen and met many people, but none was as intimidating as Lennox Qin. Lennox Qin was his boss’s husband, and Uncle Shark could see why Adrienne could get along with him. They were both strong-willed and fiercely independent individuals. But the look Lennox had at the moment made Uncle Shark’s blood run cold.
"I understand your point, but don’t do it. Allow me to deal with Lewis Jiang instead."
Lennox remained silent as if waiting for Uncle Shark to explain himself.
"Leave the dirty work on me. You don’t need to bother dealing with such trash." Uncle Shark explained.
"And why would you do this? Is it for money?" Lennox asked.
Uncle Shark laughed, extinguishing the cigarette he had in his hand.
"No, it’s not about the money." He answered. "You are giving me an excuse to beat that trash to a pulp; I’ve been waiting for that moment. You don’t have to pay me for this. Adrienne is also under my care, and I hate being responsible for her safety."
Uncle Shark met Adrienne when she was eighteen. At first, he found the young lady odd and somewhat elusive, but as time passed, he grew to appreciate her unique qualities. Adrienne was brilliant and mature for her age, and though she initially kept her distance from Lennox and his siblings, Uncle Shark saw that she was slowly opening up to them and becoming a part of their family.
Still, her treatment of Lennox’s family was a stark contrast to how she dealt with the entire Jiang family. Uncle Shark initially thought Adrienne was on a rebellious streak against her father. Still, after discovering the pain she endured because of them, his sympathy towards the Jiang family had been thrown in the wind.
Adrienne didn’t hurt them physically; instead, she hit them where it would hurt the most. Adrienne’s actions were calculated and aimed at causing emotional damage. She knew how to exploit their vulnerabilities and manipulate their emotions, leaving them deeply wounded. Her approach was subtle yet effective, leaving a lasting impact on the Jiang family that they would not soon forget.
However, none of them thought Lewis Jiang would retaliate against his daughter like this. What kind of father would do such a thing to his own child? 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂
Uncle Shark had never seen his boss in such a sorry figure, and he felt he needed to do something to make things right.
"I’ll do it, Lennox. You don’t need to sully your hands with his blood. I’ll make sure he’ll regret the day he ever crossed you." He promised Lennox.
