Red Dragon Spaceship Awakening: I Gain Alien Abilities on Mars-Chapter 225: Side by Side
Tatehan and Bjorn charged forward together, their movements syncing almost instinctively as they crashed into the wave of thirty soldiers like a two-man battering ram.
There was no hesitation, no coordination needed beyond the unspoken understanding that came from fighting alongside someone who knew exactly what they were doing.
They worked together excellently, their combat styles complementing each other in ways that felt almost choreographed despite the chaos.
Bjorn swung his warhammer in a wide, sweeping move that sent three soldiers flying, their bodies tumbling through the air like ragdolls. One of them tried to recover in the middle of the flight, his legs scrambling for purchase, but Bjorn was already moving.
He dropped his axe, reached out with both hands, and grabbed the soldier by the torso, his massive fingers clamping down on the man’s armor with crushing force.
And then he lifted.
The soldier screamed as Bjorn hoisted him high above his head, his arms fully extended, the man’s legs kicking uselessly in the air. Bjorn held him there for a fraction of a second, and then, with a roar that echoed across the battlefield, he hurled the soldier forward with all his strength.
The man flew through the air like a missile, his body spinning, his voice cut off while he tried to scream.
Tatehan saw him coming.
He planted his feet, his right fist clenching as he activated his Kinetic Absorption Armor’s stored energy. The armor had been building power throughout the fight, absorbing impacts, storing force, waiting for the right moment to release it.
This was that moment.
Tatehan swung.
His fist connected with the soldier’s chest just as the man reached him, and the stored kinetic energy detonated in a single, explosive burst.
BOOM!
The impact was catastrophic. The soldier’s armor crumpled inward, his ribs shattering, his body launched backward with so much force that he became a blur. He flew through the air, his trajectory carrying him far beyond the battlefield, and he disappeared into the distance, his fate sealed.
Bjorn laughed, a deep, booming sound full of raw satisfaction.
"That’s what I’m talking about, lad!"
But they did not stop. The remaining soldiers were already closing in, their weapons raised, their voices shouting orders as they tried to coordinate their attack.
Tatehan summoned his chakrams, the twin blades spinning in his hands, and he threw them in a wide arc that cut through the approaching soldiers like a scythe through wheat.
The chakrams sliced through armor and flesh, their momentum carrying them through multiple targets before boomeranging back to his hands.
Bjorn, meanwhile, was a whirlwind of destruction. He swung his warhammer in devastating moves, each strike sending soldiers flying, their bodies broken and lifeless before they even hit the ground. He moved with a kind of brutal grace, his massive frame somehow agile despite its size, his strikes precise despite their overwhelming power.
A soldier lunged at Tatehan from the side, a plasma blade crackling in his hand. Tatehan phased the left side of his chest, the place the blade was about to hit and it passed harmlessly through his body. Bjorn was already there, his axe coming down in a crushing overhead strike that split the soldier clean in half.
Another soldier tried to flank Bjorn, his rifle raised, but Tatehan threw a chakram that took the man’s head off before he could fire.
They moved like that, back and forth, covering each other’s blind spots, turning what should have been a desperate fight against overwhelming numbers into a coordinated slaughter.
At one point, Bjorn grabbed his warhammer with both hands and swung it in a horizontal arc that sent four soldiers flying. But the momentum of the swing left him momentarily exposed, his body turned to the side, his guard open.
Tatehan saw it immediately. He did not hesitate.
"Bjorn! Hammer!"
Bjorn did not question it. He released the warhammer, letting the weapon fly from his hands, and Tatehan caught it out of the air with his right hand.
The weight was immense, far heavier than anything Tatehan had wielded before, but his Enhanced Durability and the strength enhancements from his armor allowed him to handle it. He spun once, using the momentum to build speed, and then he brought the hammer down in a crushing overhead strike that slammed into the ground in the center of a cluster of soldiers.
The impact was devastating. The ground cracked, a shockwave rippling outward, and the soldiers caught in the blast radius were thrown backward, their bodies tumbling through the air.
Tatehan tossed the hammer back to Bjorn, who caught it with one hand and grinned beneath his helmet.
"Not bad, Knight! Not bad at all!"
They kept fighting, their movements fluid, their strikes coordinated, and the enemy soldiers began to falter. They had thought they could overwhelm the two of them through sheer numbers, but they were wrong. Tatehan and Bjorn were not just strong individually: they were devastating together.
As Tatehan ducked under a wild swing from a soldier’s blade and countered with a chakram throw that took out two more enemies, he activated his comm device, his voice cutting through the sounds of combat.
"Hey, Bjorn," Tatehan said, his tone casual despite the chaos around them. "I’m guessing your ability is super strength?"
Bjorn laughed, the sound rumbling through the comm. "No, lad. Super strength is common for almost all Vikings. We’re bred for it, trained for it. It’s not an ability yunno, it’s just who we are."
Tatehan blinked behind his visor, genuinely surprised. "Wait, seriously?"
"Aye," Bjorn confirmed. "You think I’d need an ability just to lift someone? That’s insulting, Knight."
Tatehan grinned despite himself. "Alright, fair enough. Then what is your ability?"
Bjorn swung his warhammer, the weapon crackling with energy as it connected with a soldier’s chest and sent the man flying. And then, as he straightened, his voice came through the comm, low and edged with something that sounded almost like amusement.
"You’ll see soon enough, lad. Just keep fighting."
