Chapter 46: Last Boss

Red quickly grabbed the spear at the other side of the room and left the room. He had gotten rid of the body, but he needed to ensure that no one saw him coming out of the building. That would cast suspicion on him if someone saw him coming out of the building where the Shaman was stationed.

He was quick on his feet with Infernal Berserk, but it still wasted some time. But that gave him time to collect more spears.

Despite having his stats increased by ten times, he didn’t plan to fight that Dire Wolf King up close. The plan was to fight from a distance by throwing the spears he collected.

With his current stats, a single throw would be fatal. Especially if he could hit the intended spot. His fear was that the skill would expire while he was staying close to the Dire Wolf King. So he came up with such a tactic instead.

After collecting eight spears, Red emerged two houses away from where he crashed. He observed the fight, which left three Dire Wolves and one Dire Wolf King.

The village still had eight hobs, and the Chief was still kicking despite suffering wounds all over his body. The battle was exhausting and mentally draining. The hobs seemed to grow weaker with the exhaustion.

Only eight hobs were remaining, and they were split evenly among the Dire Wolves. He thought of throwing his spear at the Dire Wolf King, but then he realized having more hobs to help the Chief was more important than throwing the spear at the Dire Wolf King.

He was afraid that the spear might not be a good help for the Chief to kill the Dire Wolf King, and he only had limited time with Infernal Berserk ticked down. He could not help the Chief once the skill expired, but the hobs could if he freed them from the Dire Wolf.

With that in mind, he focused on the dire wolf first. He picked his target, the closed dire wolf.

Red took a few steps back with a spear in his right hand. He then made a short to gain the momentum before throwing the spear. He was targeting the head, but spear-throwing was totally different than the slingshot.

The spear whistled through the air with his ten times strength, and it landed on the neck. It didn’t kill the dire wolf right away, but the momentum pushed the dire wolf to the side.

The two hobs and around fifteen goblins were shocked at first. It caught them off guard, but they quickly snapped and swarmed the swayed dire wolf. The spear impact lifted the dire wolf to the side, and they threw whatever they had in hand to kill the dire wolf.

The goblin warriors were panic-attacking, but the hobs were more experienced in the battle. One of them charged and stabbed the spear into the dire wolf’s lower belly, pushing the dire wolf to fall to the side. The second hob leaped over and pierced the dire wolf with the blade in his hand, killing the dire wolf.

Red didn’t even look at his target after hitting it. He brought his spears to another place for a better position. He had picked the second target. The first throw was a miss, but not too far. The second was almost a disaster. It was far off from the target and just grazed the dire wolf’s thigh.

It didn’t hit, but it served as an act of distraction. The dire wolf glanced toward him for a moment, and the three hobs took advantage of that to attack the dire wolf.

The dire wolf was a ferocious creature, hunting and fighting with their instinct. They could not split their attention, and once the dire wolf focused back on the hobs, he was free from the threat.

This time, he took a little bit more time with more preparation. The moment the dire wolf fully focused on the hobs in front of it, it took the chance. The target remained the same: the head.

Whoosh!

The spear whistled through the air, creating a louder noise, and this one might be the fastest throw so far. The spear struck the side of the dire wolf, pushing it down to the side. The spear was inside its head, yet it didn’t die right away.

It was writhing fiercely on the ground, flailing and kicking around. The three hobs quickly swarmed, which was followed by the goblin warriors.

Meanwhile, Red gathered his remaining five spears from the ground and moved to another position. His last target was on the other side. He walked around the center battle, which was the Chief against the Dire Wolf King.

The situation had gotten better for the Chief with the assistance of the five hobs who had just killed the dire wolf.

By the time he got a clear line shot for the third dire wolf, he saw the dire wolf bite one of the hobs’ hands. The hob screamed in pain while holding his hand, trying to save his hand from getting ripped apart.

The dire wolf stayed still, and this was his chance. He threw four spears to the ground and made a run toward the dire wolf.

"Hold it down!" Red shouted.

The two hobs on the side who noticed him quickly helped their friend. The two grabbed the dire wolf by the neck, ensuring the dire wolf could not move.

Meanwhile, he closed the distance to six meters before throwing the spear. The spear shot into the dire wolf’s forehead. The spear pierced through the head until half of the spear was inside the dire wolf. That was so strong that one shot killed the dire wolf instantly.

The last dire wolf dropped to the ground and freed three hobs. Of course, the battle was not over yet. There was still Dire Wolf King, the biggest threat to the tribe.

Red checked the remaining duration of his skill. He only had twenty-two seconds, and he must do his best to help kill the Dire Wolf King in those twenty-two seconds.

He wasted no time, grabbing one of the four spears. Currently, the Dire Wolf King was showing its back to him. He moved to another position after grabbing the remaining four spears.

After getting into an ideal position, he made a short run to gain momentum before throwing the spear. His target was the head, always. But this time, he didn’t get closer compared to when he threw the spear against the ordinary dire wolf.

Whoosh!

It was not as strong as the last throw, but it was decent. His aim was also on target. But then the Dire Wolf King noticed the incoming spear. It raised its left foreleg to block the spear. The spear pierced through its leg, but its head was safe.

’Of course, it’s not going to be easy!’
