Regressed With A Copy System: Breaking the Loop-Chapter 59: The Wall
Liana and her team arrived at their destination later that morning, and from how things looked in the village, Cyndy and her team really did do their job.
"So, we just stay here for how many days and get back?" Selena asked.
"For as long as it takes the main fight to end," Sylvia replied.
Selena turned to Sylvia with a raised brow. "Brief me,"
"We have taken the fight to the demons already," Sylvia explained. "Elite Aris and Master Best are handling it, alongside some people from the Phoenix and Clover guilds."
Amanda snapped a finger. "That must be what Elite Loretta meant by 'until everything is dealt with.'"
"Elite who, and the best master —Now who the hell are those?" Selena asked, brows furrowed. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
Klaus laughed, "It's Elite-rank Aris and Master-rank Best. Head of Defenses and the Battle Commander."
Master-rank Best, was one of the only three master-ranks in the Cerulean Guardians. The other two being the Guild Master and the Vice Guild Master.
"Goodness, I thought you never laugh," Alexander said to Klaus.
"Oh, now I get it a little bit," Selena nodded.
"We should go into the village. We aren't the only ones who are here for the job," Liana interrupted them.
They went into the village, and the people looked happy seeing them. After a few minutes they were stopped by a man clad in armor. On his chest-plate was a golden phoenix design.
"Welcome… back? No, I think you guys are new, right?" the man questioned.
Liana nodded. "Yes, we are replacing Ace Cyndy and her team."
"Oh, okay then," he replied, turning and gesturing for them to follow him. "You are Ace who?"
"I… uh, have not gotten there yet," Liana replied, laughing nervously.
The man glanced over his shoulder, brows furrowed. "But you are the leader, right?"
"Yes."
"Oh, so it's Guardian who then?"
"Actually, it's… Sentinel Liana."
"Oh," the man said, his tone a bit lower. But, to her surprise, he was not arrogant or anything. "Nice to meet you all. The name's Zechariah. We'll get to know ourselves better after you settle down."
Liana gave a curt nod. "Thank you."
A minute later, they went to a particular section of the village, and there they found their new "colleagues," if to put it that way.
Some were in white and green cloaks, while others in metal armors.
"So, these are the other two guilds they say Cloveland has, huh?" Selena said.
"You aren't from here?" Amanda asked.
"No. Me and this buddy over here are from the same place," she explained, pointing at Leon, who seemed lost in thoughts.
They got down from their horses and walked over to join the others.
Hayden, the Phoenix guild's team's leader met them. "Hey there. New faces, huh? Where's Ace?" he asked Selena, who was at the front.
Selena looked him up and down and walked past like he wasn't someone worth answering. She sat on a bench, in-between two guys who wore the Clover guild uniform—uninvited—and snatched a flask of beer from one of them, taking a gulp. "Doesn't taste half bad," she said to the guy by her right.
The two guys looked at themselves and shrugged, playing along.
Hayden stood in place, brow twitching. He felt humiliated, but he let it slide, when Alexander replied him.
"Over there," Alexander said, pointing back at Leon, not knowing that Hayden was talking about Cyndy.
Hayden looked at Leon then back at Alexander, tilting his head. "No, she's a female. Silver hair, always bored, icy and—"
"Cyndy's not coming," Nolan cut Hayden off, walking past him. "And Ace is her rank, not nickname. We have an Ace here too."
Cedric patted Hayden on the shoulder, as he walked past as well. "He's like that. You'll get used to it… if you can," he said.
Hayden stood in place, mouth slightly agape as they all walked past him like he was the most irrelevant person there. He gritted, clenching his fists. "Just who do they think they are?" he muttered.
Nolan and the others all got to settle down amongst the others, making new friends. Unlike Hayden, Loki—leader of the Clover guild team—got more respect.
And without realizing it, the day had soon come to a close, the sun just minutes away from tucking behind the mountains.
Nolan left the crew as they sorted out those who were going to be on watch for the night, looking for the place where the horses were taken to.
He bumped into Sylvia on the way. "Watch where you are going, mister," she said to him, with a side-eye.
"My apologies," Nolan said, about to go past her, but she held his hand.
"Where are you heading off to in such a hurry?" she asked.
Nolan sighed.
[Using skill "Honeytongue"]
"I'll be back in no time. I'm just going on a stroll. Vouch for me," he said, freeing himself and rushing off.
Sylvia sighed and shook her head. "Alright," she said, walking to meet the others. "Why am I eve helping him?"
Nolan finally found the horses, and he got onto Smiles. He named the "crazy" horse "Smiles".
In no time, he left.
However, Hayden spotted him and wondered where Nolan was going. He made up his mind to follow Nolan, so he could find out for himself, but before he could even get to his horse, Alexander blocked his path.
"Why are you here?" Alexander asked, though he was just doing so to buy Nolan time to get out of sight.
"Who are you to question me?" Hayden's brows furrowed.
"Alexander Zerath, Sentinel-rank, from the Cerulean Guardians, and you?"
"What? I didn't mean—you know what? Just move aside," Hayden sighed, palming his face.
"But we are sorting out those who should stay watch tonight," Alexander pressured.
Before Hayden could talk back, Liana spoke from behind him. "He's right. Where are you going?" she said.
Hayden let out a frustrated exhale, "What are you both doing here even, to be asking me?"
"Came to find you," Liana replied, casually.
Hayden scoffed. "What of him—" he pointed at the direction Nolan left, but no one was in view.
"Who?" Liana asked.
"That Nolan guy, or whatever his name is. Norman?" Hayden said. "He just left."
Alexander blinked, scratching his head. "Who's Nolan? Liana, you know any Nolan?"
"Can't remember," Liana replied, shaking her head.
Hayden was about to explode. He knew they were messing with his head, but he wasn't going to let his anger get the best of him. "Okay, you win. Let's go," he said, walking past Liana, heading back to the crew.
Liana and Alexander followed behind him, fist bumping each other.
. . .
Nolan on the other hand headed for a place where he knew demons were usually at. If his calculations were correct, even with the sped-up timeline, since the patterns are not changing much, there should still be demons there.
And he was right.
He stopped atop a hill, looking down on a load of low-grades and D-rank demons. They looked like they were just waiting.
He hoped off Smiles and took off his uniform top—now in his white vest. He dropped the top on Smiles and said, "Stay here."
He started going down towards the demons, cracking his neck. "Making them think it's all over, only to drop a surprise mass raid, huh? Whoever's strategizing for you demons is a genius," Nolan said, and the demons finally noticed him. "Only issue here is the wall that strategy doesn't go beyond."

[Divine Control > Ice Affinity]
A pair of short ice blades formed in Nolan's hands, as he continued his calm walk, the demon's charging at him. "And that wall... is me," he completed.
