Chapter 30: Let’s Start Today
Adam looks around, and the gym is empty, with no one around. He didn’t think much of it as people usually don’t come to the gym in the middle of the day, as most have work or school.
With no one in sight, Adam walks around the gym, observing some of the equipment, touching it, and observing how it feels.
He walks up to a punching bag and places his hand against it. It feels hard and heavy.
Taking a step back, he coils his hand back, takes position, and punches it with a good amount of force behind his fist. *BOOM* The punch creates a loud sound, and the bag caves in from the punch. The bag then begins to shake uncontrollably, and Adam stops by grabbing it hurriedly.
Since this is the first time he ever punched a punching bag, he never expected it to react so aggressively. He has seen videos of guys punching these bags, and they never rattled this much from a simple punch.
"Can I help you with something?" Adam suddenly hears a girl’s voice from behind. Adam turns around and sees a beautiful Asian girl with straight brown hair, dark skin, beautiful dark brown eyes, defined eyebrows, a flat nose, small but plump lips, and a nice jawline.
But her most attractive feature is definitely her body. She is lean and shredded, with very low body fat, evident by the visible abs on her abdomen, and also her defined muscles on her slim arms and shoulders.
It is very clear that this girl is really into fitness, as girls usually don’t look this good unless they have at least ten years of disciplined training.
She is wearing a small white sports top and a black polyester short.
Adam looks at the girl before him and eyes her from head to toe. She is about five feet, nice inches tall, quite tall for a girl, but her height doesn’t matter because she is hot.
"I want to learn MMA. I came here to join the gym," Adam says.
"Oh, that’s great! Come follow me," the girl says excitedly and walks quickly towards the office.
Adam notices that she is a little overenthusiastic about his admission, so he starts getting a little skeptical.
But he still decides to follow her into the office. As he follows behind her, his eyes can’t help but linger on her sexy ass as it moves and giggles with every step she take.
The girl is clearly a fighter who has worked a lot on her legs and glutes, making them stand out a lot, so Adam is not surprised to see how round and perfectly in shape they are.
Adam follows the girl into the office and is immediately greeted by multiple images of people in fighting gear, metals, and trophies. He even sees posters of the girl before him on the wall holding medals and trophies next to a middle-aged-looking man who has some features resembling her. He must clearly be her father.
There are also photos and posters of the man beside other fighters who are also holding medals and trophies. It is evident that the man has trained several high-level MMA guys, both amateur and pro.
"Here, fill out this form," the girl says, handing over a sheet of paper to Adam. Adam takes the paper and glances at it. It’s your usual information form.
Adam quickly fills it up and hands it over to the girl.
"So, is this your first time ever doing MMA?" she questions.
"Yes," Adam says.
"So you haven’t ever had gloves on? Not even once?" she questions.
"Never," Adam answers to her surprise because she saw what Adam did with that punching bag.
Even though his punch was a little sloppy and lacked technique, she saw him drive power through his foot into his hand, and the power behind that punch was incredible.
Even guys who have trained for years couldn’t rattle that heavy punching bag like Adam did.
So she assumed that Adam might have had at least a few months of training.
"Okay, so every month, it will cost you 180 dollars. But if you take a yearly membership, it will cost you around 150 dollars a month, which is 1800 in total. You will get personally trained by me or my dad if he is around. You will also have access to all the equipment 24/7, so if you ever want to come and blow off some steam, you can do that," the girl says.
Adam nods his head. Though a little expensive, it’s worth it, as he will have access to this gym 24/7. Not every gym provides this facility.
"Okay," Adam says.
"So, you wanna join?" She asks.
"We can start right now," Adam says, smiling.
Seeing his charismatic smile stunned the girl for a second, but she is a tough girl, so she quickly overcame it.
After that single moment of weakness from the girl, she gets back to business and registers Adam’s name into the system so that the training can begin
"You look fit. Do you work out?" she questions, as she can’t see Adam’s body through his dress, but his overall frame looks fit.
"I do," Adam lies, as there is no other way to explain how good his body looks.
"Great, but let’s still see how good your endurance is. Endurance and stamina are more important than power when it comes to MMA," she says as she walks to the office door.
Adam’s eyes locked on her sexy body as she walked out of the office. He gets up from his chair and follows her outside.
They arrive before a large open space.
"Before we begin training, let me introduce myself, as I will be your trainer from now on. My name’s Lamai Ayutthaya, and I have 17 years of striking training and 10 years of grappling under my belt. I have had sixty professional fights, under which fifty-seven are victories, two losses, and one draw.
I have participated in twenty-four local tournaments, twenty regionals, twelve nationals, and four international tournaments," Lamai gives a quick introduction about herself and her career, which is very impressive.
"That’s quite a stat," Adam says, impressed.
"I didn’t point out my achievements to impress you. I just want you to know that you are in the best hands to receive training, and I am going to push you and turn you into a lethal fighting machine," she says, full of confidence.
Adam smiles. He never thought of fighting seriously; he just wanted to learn how to protect himself, but seeing how serious Lamai is, he didn’t question her resolve.
He, too, wants to see how far he can take this body off his.
"Great, I can’t wait to start," Adam says.
"Okay then, let’s begin with the most basic of stuff. I want to see just how fit you are. Let’s start with pushups," Lamai says.
Adam does as she says. He gets down on his hands, his body straight as a plank, and begins doing pushups. It’s effortless.
Lamai watches as Adam easily crosses over fifty pushups, and there isn’t a sign of struggle in his movement. She lets him continue to see his limit, but even after crossing a hundred, Adam keeps his pace and movement.
Lamai quickly realizes that Adam’s muscle endurance is very good, and there is no point in continuing this anymore. So she decides to move on to other exercises.
Squats and lunges, Adam completes with ease. She is also surprised when Adam does over fifty clean pull-ups in a single set, which she has never seen done by anyone before her. Even the best fighters in her gym can’t do what Adam just did.
This makes Lamai realize that the man before her is an endurance freak. His muscles can outwork some of the best athletes in the world. This excites her.
"Okay, it’s clear by now, you are extremely fit, there is no point doing strength and muscle endurance training other than warmups. Let’s focus on your stamina next," Lamai says, handing over a jump rope to him.
Adam takes the jump rope from her hand and begins skipping with it, any just like every other exercise, he is breezing through it, showing no sign of fatigue or tiredness.
Lamai is getting blown away by the level of fitness Adam has. She decides to stop.
"That’s enough. Let’s do some dynamic stretching, and I will start teaching you some stance and footwork," Lamai says, and begins his official training.
With how much Adam has moved by doing all the regular exercises, he has had enough warmup, so she gets straight to what matters.
After the stretching is done, Lamai begins showing Adam some of the stances that are used in fighting, like orthodox and southpaw, depending on which hand they use the most.
But Adam is proficient with both hands. He is in complete sync with every part of his body.
The more Lamai learns about Adam’s capabilities, the more shocked she gets. Not only is this guy extremely fit, has extreme endurance, great flexibility, but he is also ambidextrous? This guy is made for fighting.
Adam watches a Lamai display both stances and begins copying her, and as he does this, it starts coming very naturally to him. And before you know it, Adam is perfectly mimicking Lamai.
In fact, his south paw stance is even better than hers.
"Tell me the truth. Is this really your first time doing any fighting training?" Lamai asks, seeing the proficiency Adam is displaying.
"I am telling the truth. This is my first time doing any sort of fighting training. Of course, I watched a lot of MMA fights, but that doesn’t mean it directly translates into practice, right?" Adam questions jokingly.
But seeing how fast Adam is adapting, Lamai actually starts to believe that it might be true. Adam is a monster.
