Chapter 1134: Impact (3)

“To make things worse, they haven’t encountered the Demon King of Sunset… They’re saying that they encountered… a woman wielding a spear while riding a black dragon,” the messenger reported.

“...”

They couldn’t believe it.

“Do you have the battle logs?” I asked.

“We haven’t confirmed exactly what kind of battle took place, but…” they paused.

I was the fool for expecting anything.

“In that case, is there a way I can meet the survivors myself?” I asked.

“The King of the Underground Familia probably won't share any information. Those cunning bastards…”

‘Unwilling to share information? Even in this chaotic situation?’

“No. If we send a second expedition team and a rescue team, there’d be no reason for them to withhold the information,” I said.

“Ha! You know nothing. Even if they agree to share the information, what can we obtain from a survivor who had gone mad with fear?” one of them argued.

“I’m sure there’s a reason why they sent a survivor back here. It’s to either show off their power… or for a different reason,” I said.

They had probably shoved some kind of recording orb in the pocket of that survivor, but even if that wasn’t the case, we could probably still get a hint. Normally, whenever one failed a dungeon raid, one would question the survivor and find out what had happened from that survivor.

Even if they were too terrified to communicate properly, one could still get a ton of information from them.

‘It applies even more in situations like this.’

I was sure they knew that spreading fear throughout Rohen would give them the advantage.

I knew that Kim Hyun-Sung wouldn't actually come here alone, but the situation became clearer in my eyes when I heard that Hye-Jin and Dialugia were here as well.

‘It’s too organized.’

It was too organized to say that he had just defeated a single commander and claimed the 21st Legion. I was starting to think that Ji-Hye noona, Belial, or perhaps even Lucifer was involved in this.

I wasn’t underestimating Kim Hyun-Sung, but there were too many questionable things to say that Kim Hyun-Sung had done all this on his own.

‘So you summoned Hye-Jin and Dialugia?’

They were summoned here as demons, not as humans. Jo Hye-Jin had been accumulating holy power for a while now, but getting a visa as the commander’s adjutant was a completely different story.

It was safe to assume that the one who issued her the visa was behind all this.

Perhaps the entire Blue Guild, Rafael, Hee-Ra noona, and Kasugano Yuno had come here as members of the 21st Legion, but I still couldn’t figure out how they had managed to do that.

I was sure that if I were to search all the dimensions, there would only be a handful of cases where people were summoned this way.

This could only be done by someone who knew the system well. The one who found a loophole in the system and made sure that the system would agree to the arrangement was Kim Hyun-Sung's helper.

Given the situation, it was suspicious that they spared only one person.

Since the 21st Legion needed to gather as many resources as possible in the Ashen Sunset Region, I was sure they didn’t want the players to get scared and stay away from the region instead.

I was sure they hadn't killed those people yet.

I was sure the King of the Underground Familia and the first expedition group were in the mana factories, waiting to be rescued. Their goal was to share information about Dialugia and Jo Hye-Jin and give others hope in clearing the dungeon.

Just as I expected, another messenger ran into the meeting room while gasping for breath.

“J-Just now… the King of the Underground Familia has sent an orb. They’re asking if we’re willing to join the second expedition team that will be officially formed later. They said they’re willing to offer full support…”

‘I knew it.’

I was just about to run out of the meeting room, but no one complained about me staying here. Everyone remained quiet because things were happening too fast, and that’s when the orb started playing a footage.

— Prepare for battle! Prepare for battle!!!

— There’s an unidentified enemy in the front. There’s an unidentified enemy in the front!

— Formation! The formation, everyone!

It wasn’t even an ambush.

‘Damn it.’

A figure covered in dark greenish armor descended amidst the players while sitting on a black dragon. Seeing them quietly and slowly show themselves as if that place had always been their nest made them look noble.

People started screaming at the sight of them.

— Aaaahh!

— AAAAAH!

— AAAAH! Die! You monster!!!

— What… what is this…

— AAAAHHHH!

— Aaaah!

The allied troops would sustain a ton of damage every time the figure on the black dragon threw her spear at them.

The black dragon either swung its giant tail or used its claws to prevent the vanguards from getting closer to it. Its pattern wasn’t difficult, but it was impactful.

Each time there was a flash of light, a spear would pierce three or four people, causing them to fall to the ground as if they were meat on a skewer. To make things worse, the people stuck on the spear were shriveled up.

I was sure either their mana or life was getting sucked out of them.

— Ahhh!

— Damn it! Dodge! What are the vanguards doing?!

— Magic shield! Magic shield Anything is fine, so just cast a spell!

— Block that! Damn… Cough!

A long spear pierced a dozen people holding up their shields. The armored figure looked like she was carrying out a simple task in a boring manner, and it seemed like the black dragon had no need to unleash even a Breath against the attackers.

Overall, this was a strange sight to me.

— Aaaah!

— Ah… ugh… don’t come near me! Don’t come! Don’t coooome! Please! Pleeease…! don’t come this way!

‘What’s… wrong with you?’

Of course, it was a strange sight. After all, Jo Hye-Jin was the embodiment of lawful good. She had delivered countless memorable lines such as “Don’t tarnish his pride.”

Despite that, she was tossing spears at these people as if they were mere insects.

I didn't hear anything beneath the mask.

The blue glow in her eyes was the only sign that she was, in fact, human.

— Ahhhhh!

— Cough… I… I… don’t want to die. Ahh…

— Ahhhh… save me… Mom…

— I…I…

Spears rained down without hesitation, and even those crawling away weren't spared.

— Roooooooooooar!

Something red scattered all over the place.

The black dragon took a step, and I heard an unpleasant noise. Instead of loud screams, I heard faint groans. The events unfolding under the ashen sunset were too brutal and cruel for it to be described with the word "hopeless."

“...”

“...”

Obviously, silence filled the room.

No matter how experienced a player was, no one would smile at the sight of blood and flesh splattering all over the place.

“They terribly… strong…”

“...”

“But I don’t think it’s to the point that we need to be afraid of them…”

‘...’

“Don’t you agree?”

‘I have no idea.’

There was definitely a reason why they were thinking that way, and even I thought that this dungeon could be cleared. First of all, the attack patterns were simple. Secondly, the familia’s attempt earlier showed us that it was possible to clear this dungeon.

‘So we just need to block the spears, right?’

They managed to give us decent information. Blocking the spears raining down from a distance and knocking the figure on the black dragon would be the basic strategy here. It seemed like they were attacked before they could do anything, but their overall stats were low, so they were quite useless.

Their strategy against the dungeon wasn’t wrong.

‘The pattern is too simple.’

When designing a dungeon, the boss monster needed to have set patterns; the difficulty and the overall strategy against the boss monster would be determined by its patterns.

Jin Cheong was a good example of this.

Just like all other dungeons, it was highly likely the Demon King of Sunset was built the same way. The difficulty of dungeons had always been rising progressively, so the strategies that could be used against the first named monster were limited, but…

‘Did they have to make Hye-Jin the first named monster? And why are her patterns so simple?’

It was a waste of talent, and I was sure the patterns after the first phase would be simple as well.

After knocking the figure off the black dragon, we’d have to attack the two bosses at the same time, and once they entered phase three, Dialugia would fly into the sky and unleash Breathe, or Hye-Jin would be left alone in the final battle.

That was the biggest problem, but the pattern itself was simple.

‘She’s either a card to be discarded or a card to lure these guys in.’

Or perhaps there was a reason why Jo Hye-Jin had no choice but to take on this task…

I couldn't help but think that this was the only role that they could assign to her because of her gentle nature. The role required her to hunt humans, but at least she didn't have to kill them.

“If we do create a second expedition group, had the King of the Underground Familia mentioned what kind of reward they’d give us?” one of them asked.

“They’ll surely offer a hefty reward since we’re putting everything on the line to rescue them. More importantly, there’s a high chance that we can lead this expedition ourselves,” another chimed in.

“The rewards won't just come from the King of the Underground Familia. This is a mainstream event, and the GENIUSES will surely promote it by saying that they'll be giving away coins,” they said.

I saw scared people, but their desire for a reward seemed to outweigh their fear.

“Had the other familias said that they were going to join?” one of them asked.

“I’m sure the familias in the north and the west will join us,” they answered.

Another suggested, “They must be waiting for us to rescue them, so we should go in as soon as possible, but we should still take our time."

“That’s true. No matter how tempting the reward is, we should at least make basic preparations. Stupid fools… they got a bit too hasty, but it’s a good thing for us,” they said.

“At least two weeks. No… maybe three weeks to prepare?” another asked.

‘At least I won’t get robbed by these idiots.’

They would most likely create a safe zone after a certain period of time.

The players of Rohen had to gather in the safe zone within the Ashen Sunset Region.

“Mr. William… what do you think? If you've changed your mind…” they asked.

William glanced at me, seemingly asking for my opinion.

However, I had no choice but to shake my head.

‘They’re unreasonable.’

“There’s no reason to stay here. Let’s go, Mr. William,” I suggested.

“Okay.”

“Master William…” one of them called out.

“...”

“Are you really not going to join us?” they asked.

“...”

“If you leave now, you’re really going to regret it,” they warned.

“...”

“...”

“If you managed to create a safe zone, I suggest you stop there. This is my last warning,” William said.

“Ha!”

“...”

“Still as arrogant as ever.”

'I hope…'

“He knows nothing…”

'...Hye-Jin sends all of these assholes to hell.'

In two weeks, I was sure these assholes would wait for us to be rescued while in skewers as if they were human kebabs.

“You’ll regret listening to that idiot’s words! William!” they shouted.
