Chapter 1235. Blue Guild’s Youth Center (4)
“S-She’s pretty.”
“...”
“...”
‘What did he say just now?’
Miss Kim Mi-Young looked oddly flustered. It wasn’t obvious, but I[1] had spent a ton of time with her, so it wasn't difficult for me to notice it.
The way she adjusted her hair for no reason and nudged her glasses back into place was suspicious. The one who blurted out the comment, her son, looked just as shaken as her.
Miss Kim Mi-Young quickly recovered her composure, but the boy was astonished, realizing that he had made a mistake.
His head was hanging low, and his bright red ears stood out the most. His face had to be as red as his ears. He had just made a critical mistake at an age when looking cool meant everything.
Unseen factions were in the midst of forming, so this was a mistake that could earn him some criticism.
‘Kids these days are already picking sides...’
There was no need for me to take a closer look to know that. I expected the kids to group up with their own kind, but it was more obvious than I had imagined.
From what I could see, the Federation kids were sitting together, the Democratic Country kids were with each other, and the Republic kids were all together as well.
Given the situation, it was no surprise that the kids from the Democratic Country were looking at me with hostility.
A fresh face from the Republic suddenly showed up, and on top of that, I got all the kids from the Republic totally under my control, so I was sure it was a shocking sight.
‘Honestly, it’s shocking for me as well.’
Was being Jin Cheong’s son really enough to warrant this kind of treatment? I couldn’t
tell just how far they were going to worship me, but it was clear that the atmosphere here was incomparable to the atmosphere around the kids from the Democratic Country.
Meanwhile, Professor Hiddlington was clearly flustered. He wiped away the sweat from his brow before saying, “If this happens one more time, I’ll penalize you, do you understand?”
“...”
“Whoo... Seriously... I’ll say this one more time. At the Blue Guild’s Youth Center, we don’t discriminate or divide students based on ideology, nationality, or religion. This rule applies not only to professors but to all of you students as well,” he added.
“...”
“I understand the differences in culture and beliefs can make certain things difficult. However, if something like what just happened were to occur often in a classroom, it would inevitably make other students feel uncomfortable. Do you understand?”
“...”
“Judging by your reactions, it seems you’ve already heard the news... Anyway, I won’t say much more. These are the classmates you’ll be studying with from now on. Go ahead and introduce yourselves,” he instructed.
Before the professor could even finish speaking, I arrogantly said, “Nice to meet you. Call me Jin Young.”
There was no need for formal greetings like wishing to get along or looking forward to working with them. The only thing I said was my name. The greeting was so blunt that it bordered on arrogance, but it suited my role as Jin Cheong’s son.
‘I need to firmly establish the concept.’
Miss Kim Mi-Young formally said, “My name is Rina, and I'm the attendant of the young master. I look forward to working with you.”
“Go ahead and sit in the empty seats," Professor Hiddlington said, sounding sick of the situation.
I trudged all the way to the very last row. Even though the seats were already taken, I didn’t have to worry at all. It seemed the guys had noticed that Miss Kim Mi-Young and I wanted to sit in the back because they got up on their own and offered their seats.
“You,” I said, pointing at someone.
“Yes?”
“Your name?” I asked.
“I-It’s Slava,” the student answered.
“Thanks. I’ll remember this,” I said.
“It’s an honor!”
‘This actually feels pretty good.’
I could finally understand why Jin Cheong was often so full of himself. It was unbelievably comfortable. There was no need for me to say much, and the people would simply take my word as the truth, which made things easier for me.
When Professor Hiddlington saw that we were finally seated, he tried to proceed with the lecture, but it was impossible for him to proceed with it as usual.
It wasn’t that he was incompetent, but the students’ attention span had its limits.
Every student in the classroom was conscious of me, and even those from the Democratic Country cast occasional glances toward me.
Professor Hiddlington himself was noticeably conscious of me. Well, he was known as the Hero of Shadows, so it only made sense for him to be famous throughout the continent. In other words, their reaction was to be expected.
‘I think he got more credit than he deserved.’
The Republic had only a few prominent figures, so their aggressive promotion easily paid off. Ultimately, the Hero of Shadows rose to become one of the ten most renowned names on the continent.
Smart marketing had played a big role, and people now saw him as some kind of genius strategist who was good at everything—magic, combat, and just about anything else.
The dual image marketing was working. In the light, it was the honorary cardinal; in the shadows, it was the cunning strategist from the Republic.
‘I honestly did a great job upholding his honor.’
Of course, I had every intention of elevating that honor even more.
I had to spread the word that he raised one hell of a son.
“Professor Hiddlington,” I said.
“What is it?” the professor asked.
“I think there’s an issue with the magic circle you explained... Could you check it again?” I asked.
Professor Hiddlington's face turned red.
“There isn’t an issue, but—”
“Take a moment to think it through, and then check again,” I suggested.
In the end, Professor Hiddlington gritted his teeth.
“Since you really don’t see the issue, I’ll come to the front and show you. If I’m unable to correct the formula, I’ll accept a 5-point penalty for disrupting the class,” I added.
“...”
Of course, I could do it. I walked up to the board and drew the magic circle again. I was no magic prodigy, but I knew my way around a formula or two. Anyone with half a brain could easily understand what I just drew.
In the end, Professor Hiddlington...
“Hmm...”
Professor Hiddlington let out a faint groan, and that was all he could do. However, he wasn’t angry. Instead, he was stunned, or perhaps even intrigued like a true academic would be.
I had subtracted instead of added to the array he had drawn, and yet the efficiency had increased. He was clearly struggling to process what he had just witnessed.
The students who couldn’t understand the magic circle simply stared at it.
Then, finally, Professor Hiddington nodded. It was a clear admission of defeat.
‘He’s not bad.’
“You’re right, Jin Young,” Professor Hiddlington said.
“...”
“Could you explain how you noticed that?” Professor Hiddlington asked.
“I can’t answer that question, Professor Hiddington. I simply saw it,” I told him. freewёbn૦νeɭ.com
“Haa...”
“...”
“...” “Looks like the commander of the Republic raised a monster...” Professor Hiddlington mumbled.
‘I really like you. You’re like some kind of hired actor.’
Everyone in the room clearly heard the words he muttered without realizing it. Realizing his mistake, he swiftly delivered a closing comment and hurriedly rushed out of the classroom.
“Well then... let’s wrap up today’s class a bit early.”
Right after Professor Hiddlington carefully left the room, the classroom became uncomfortably quiet.
Just then, the students from the Republic stood up one by one.
Naturally, I expected them to introduce themselves.
As predicted, they walked up to me and did exactly that.
“Hello, my name is Amel Nicola.”
“It’s an honor to meet you. I’m Li Xiaolan.”
The name sounded oddly familiar, and before I knew it, I activated Mind’s Eye...
[Checking Player Xiaolan’s Unique Habit.]
[Romantic With a Killer Touch]
‘I shouldn’t get close to them.’
Xiaolin hadn’t made any public appearances, so no one knew what she had been doing all this time, but it looked like she’d gotten married and even had a kid.
The child clearly took after their mother. Xiaolan was so capable that they were apparently allowed to skip a grade. Xiaolan also looked noticeably younger than the rest of the students here.
“How are your parents doing?” I asked.
“It’s been a while since my mother retired... and my father has passed away...” Xiaolan answered.
I didn’t bother asking how he passed away.
“It’s an honor. My name is Victor Galia.”
“It’s nice to meet you. I-I’m Slava.”
Greeting each person one by one was a task in itself, and even after that, five or six more people stepped forward to greet me politely. Meanwhile, Miss Kim Mi-Young kept sneaking glances at her son, clearly unable to stop worrying about him.
I was sure she had been asking the usual questions such as, "how was school" "how have you been," and more. However, a kid would rarely give honest or detailed answers to their parents.
Miss Kim Mi-Young wasn’t naive enough to know that, so she clearly never believed everything he said.
Now that she had the chance to see her child at school, there were naturally many things she wanted to check for herself.
Was he getting along with friends? Was he paying attention in class? Was he getting into trouble?
The moment she saw him practically glued to a girl his age, she looked kind of shocked.
‘He’s not skipping his studies just to date, right?’
“What did you say just now, Myung-Won?” Aryl asked.
“I didn’t realize... What’s wrong, Aryl?” Myung-Won asked.
“What’s wrong? How can you even ask that right now? Honestly, I never thought I’d agree with what Felis said. Can you not see what they're doing? They’re acting like they own the classroom by grouping together. They really are ruining the atmosphere here.
"And despite that, you actually said that she’s pretty?” Aryl grumbled.
“Aryl... it was... a mistake...” Kim Myung-Won mumbled.
‘Anyone can see they’re all being lovey-dovey.’
“I’m disappointed, Kim Myung-Won,” Aryl said.
“No, Aryl! That’s not what I meant...” Kim Myung-Won said.
‘You’d have to be blind not to see they're going to start dating any minute now...’
Given Miss Kim Mi-Young’s personality, she wouldn't approve of anything that could disrupt his studies, but surprisingly, she looked pretty pleased at the sight.
It seemed that she wasn't the type to get all strict about dating and stuff. She seemed genuinely amused, and she was even smiling faintly. Although she looked a bit guilty, what parent would say no to that kind of experience?
I wasn’t completely certain at first, but bringing Miss Kim Mi-Young was indeed the right call.
As soon as we arrived here, she immediately checked the facilities. The place was a bit cramped, but she seemed pretty happy with how nice the facilities were. Thinking about where to spend the budget was so typical of her.
She probably couldn’t just kick back and enjoy a vacation, but our personalities aligned, so I was sure that this sort of trip probably felt way more like a vacation than a leisure trip to Laves.
Just then, a voice echoed from a distance.
“How about we get to know each other?”
They were students from the Democratic Country. They were clearly showing off their privileged status by casually wearing magic-enhancing artifacts for style.
“Go ahead,” I said.
“Well, it’s nothing special.”
“...”
“Don’t forget that this is the Democratic Country, not the Republic.”
“You bastard! Are you—”
“Nicola, I never gave you permission to speak,” I interrupted Nicola.
‘My line just now was so cool.’
Despite the fact that I was the one who said it, I got goosebumps all over me.
I looked pretty cool even in my eyes.
“Keugh... but... Mr. Jin Young,” Nicola mumbled.
“But I’ll remember your loyalty,” I added.
“Th-Thank you,” Nicola stuttered.
“You were saying?” I asked.
“Tch! I’m Felis Hanest,” Felis introduced himself.
“Okay, Felis Hanest. So what you’re saying is...” I trailed off.
“...”
“It sounds like you’re trying to use the fact that this is the Democratic Country to put us at a disadvantage... Am I understanding that correctly?” I asked.
“Wh-What?” Felis said.
“You’re Felis Hanest, the rightful heir of Senator Hanest. Should I take it that you’re using your current status and background to threaten us?” I questioned.
Regardless of how educated they were, they were just students. They could show off as many times as they wanted, but the fact that they were from an esteemed social circle meant that one wrong word could cost them dearly.
I couldn’t help but find these kids adorable.
‘This is really... really fun.'
