Regressor's Harem Of Vengeance-Chapter 55. Mira’s Awakening.
Ray scrambled sideways, then he activated his <<Swift Strike >> skill to deliver three rapid cuts to the Ogre King’s leg, aiming at the gaps in its bone armor and targeting the tendons behind its knee.
The Ogre King roared with anguish but Ray swiftly activated his <<Paralysis Sting>> Skill and a thick green viscous liquid began to coat his blade.
The Ogre King clamped both of its hands and slammed them down, but Ray quickly evaded its attack before driving his coated blade into the King’s thigh.
The paralytic venom instantly began to do its work, coursing through the bloodstream of the huge green-skinned monster and Ray could see the venom within the Ogre King’s body, blending with the monster’s blood and turning it into a black tar-like liquid as it spread itself within the Ogre’s veins.
Now, visible black veins could be seen spreading from within the Ogre’s leg to its thighs and other parts of its body.
The Ogre King instantly dropped to its knees as its body became unresponsive, but Ray didn’t let this golden chance go to waste.
Yes, he could have easily stood back and watched the Ogre King die a slow and miserable death, but a part of him didn’t want to risk the possibility of obtaining a new skill.
He wasn’t sure if he would obtain a skill by just standing by and watching the Ogre King die, so he decided to take the safer route.
After all, it was better to take the tested and trusted way rather than one he barely knew the outcome of.
Thus, Ray leaped above the Ogre King and located the space between the bone armor sections at the back of the Chieftain’s neck.
With one clean swipe of his sword, the glowing red eyes of the Ogre King instantly went out.
[Congratulations! You’ve absorbed a new skill.]

Ray knelt beside the Ogre King’s body as he stared at the words displayed on his screen.
His lips widened into a grin as he read the details of his new skill, but his attention was immediately pulled in Mira’s direction because he recalled that Mira was still battling against the Ogre he had tried to help her with, so he wondered if she was doing okay or not.
But to his surprise, Ray watched Mira jump high into the air as she brought her spear down, piercing through the Ogre’s skull and splitting its body in half.
Her body was drenched in blood and her limbs ached all over, but she had successfully defeated her opponent whose power was way higher than her current level. Ray instantly rushed over to comfort her and to praise her for doing a great job in handling the strong Ogre on her own.
Based on what he had noticed, Ray was certain that Mira had single-handedly defeated the Ogre which was most definitely the second in command to the Ogre King, hence why he thought she really deserved to be commended on the achievement she had made, but what happened next caught him totally by surprise.
In front of him, barely forty to fifty meters away, Mira’s body was glowing with a special kind of hue.
It was a glow he had seen before and Ray couldn’t help but smile as he watched his beautiful girlfriend’s expression shift from confusion, to shock, realization, and finally, to overwhelming glee.
Mira instantly lifted her head up as she stared at the screen in front of her, and a new string of words was displayed in front of her.

Mira stared at the details of her newly acquired skills, but while she was doing this, she suddenly heard footsteps approaching from behind.
She swiftly turned around and Ray could see her eyes brimming with tears that threatened to pour down anytime soon.
His lips widened into a bigger smile as he spread his arms wide to welcome her into a hug.
Mira swiftly launched herself into his embrace, still finding it hard to believe that she had actually become an Awakened.
"Congratulations Mira.." Ray said as he tightened his grip around her body.
Mira buried her face into his chest, wrapping her arms tightly around him as though she was scared that he would leave her any time soon. "Thank you... For everything. Thank you so much."
"But I didn’t do anything."
"Yes, you did."
If Ray hadn’t believed in her and trained her the way he did, Mira wouldn’t have believed that she could do all that she had done.
To her, Ray had done something so important that she would forever be grateful to him.
The two remained locked in their embrace for a while before pulling away reluctantly.
"Are you okay? You can rest for now if you want..."
"I’m fine..." Mira replied softly with a nod. She understood why Ray was worried about her and she was pleased to see how much he cared, but there was still so much to do and she didn’t want to just sit back and watch her boyfriend do all the work.
"Are you sure? You know you just defeated a really strong Ogre on your own."
"I know." Mira smiled as she realized the huge feat she had achieved all on her own and it filled her with joy and excitement.
She glanced down at the dead Ogre before returning her gaze back to Ray.
Then she planted a kiss on his lips. "Thank you, but look around us. There’s still so much to do."
