Reincarnated As A Dragon With Cheats-Chapter 48: Ryenar, The Lost (2)
Chapter 48: Ryenar, The Lost (2)
Raiden arrived on the first floor before Ryenar did.
It was a bit dark and lacked the ambience that he enjoyed in the upper floors, but he simply nodded to the fact that it was an ideal spot for the low born.
Raiden did everything to conceal his aura.
He knew well that if he stepped onto the first floor with his aura exposed, the beings there would suffocate to death.
Most would either get heart attacks, some would have their hearts burst out, while others might have their internal organs rupture.
Ryenar understood the same. But Ryenar did nothing to conceal his massive aura.
The moment he arrived on the first floor, all the spiders felt it.
An unknown and massive amount of gravity pressed on their bodies.
Since they were hauled up in holes made deep within the ceiling, the massive gravity started pulling them down.
Not one by one, but all at once, they dropped to the ground with huge thuds and bams.
But they barely screamed.
Raiden narrowed his gaze at their faces. They felt a large suffocating force.
He then turned towards Ryenar.
"Who among you is the child blessed by mother?"
Raiden shook his head.
Ryenar, seeing that no one replied, raised his voice. This time, it was close to thunder and very close to a tiger’s roar.
"WHO!?"
Raiden shook his head again.
In his mind, he thought that Ryenar had serious mommy issues.
The guy would go after anyone who had shown affection from mother and would make sure to show them their place.
He was, in fact, trying to be the number one favorite child.
If not for Raiden getting the boss title purely by strength and not by affection, there would have been boss battles almost every day and the dungeon would have been destroyed.
Regardless, Raiden could not let Ryenar’s tyranny continue.
He could already feel a pair of black eyes watching him from behind.
The mother was watching it all.
And the mother would definitely not sit idly watching her favored one die.
Raiden raised his right hand up to the level of his waist with his palm facing upwards.
He was about to abolish this aura and the killing intent that was oozing out of Ryenar, and he could do so with just the movement of his finger.
But he was a step too late.
The killing intent vanished as if it was never there, and all the aura he was emitting decreased in intensity.
The spiders, quite a few of them, had noticed Raiden lift his hand and had assumed that he was behind this.
If it was any other creature, especially a low born, they would show heartfelt gratitude. In a sense, Raiden was their savior.
But would you expect such a response from soldiers who had seen the deaths of their comrades?
The spiders had been at war, against each other and the beings of the pond. Pebbles was their liberator and their master, and they had the pride and dignity of their master to show.
The eldest of them did not step forward first. Gasps came before thoughts.
But the relatively younger and promising ones?
"Why did you stop?" he gasped once. "Ah, did our master gouge your strength off?"
Raiden’s eyes widened.
A mere, puny, tiny spider dared to speak so rudely to Ryenar?
Raiden was visibly angered, and he did not think twice.
He formed a fist out of his raised hand, almost as if he was crushing something.
"Ha..."
A loud burst echoed, and the young spider who had dared to spout such nonsense burst as if a bomb had been planted within him.
All the blood and internal organs splattered left and right.
"NOOOOO!"
Some of the spiders who knew the brave one screamed, while others continued to gasp.
It was a natural reaction, but Raiden’s was not.
Raiden was shocked. He was shocked by the fact that Ryenar had grabbed his hand with brute force and urgency.
He turned his gaze instantly, only to find Ryenar swearing under his breath.
The boss of the ninth floor was gulping hard as his body started to shift and turn.
The sound of bones creaking and breaking, and then internal organs changing positions, was extremely detailed and visible from the outside.
Raiden pulled his hand away and jumped a step back.
A small, confused smile sat on his face, complementing his puzzled state of mind.
Ryenar was transforming again.
Raiden had seen this multiple times.
Every time Ryenar devoured someone’s name, his appearance would change into that of the victim.
He could freely transform between all his victims, and this was one of his strengths.
But right now...
...the form he took was that of a weird and ugly lizard.
He could see the jaw dropping lower and lower, misaligned, with chipped teeth. The eyes were at different levels too, and the body lacked scales.
Then the tail, abnormally small and twisted to the side, came into view.
’This bastard... did he manage to make a lizard speak his name?’
Raiden was visibly stunned.
But Ryenar seemed in a lot of pain.
"AH..."
"Ah...."
"AAAARGHHHHH!!!!"
Raiden had seen such transformations earlier. They were usually smooth.
He stole names and transformed. Done.
Such an excruciating cry of pain... that was a first.
The monster who had never let out a single cry wailed as he tossed left and right on the ground.
He raised his hands again and again and tried to stand, but he would sway and fall back to the ground.
His vision blurred and he could barely see.
There was a weird burning sensation in his gut. The acids were too strong.
It was almost as if the acids would melt his stomach and then his internal organs.
"Can-" 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
He could not speak properly.
Each time he tried, he bit his own tongue.
"Cance-"
"I..."
"I reject the na-"
"Ryenar, are you...?"
Ryenar rolled away from Raiden and took support from the walls.
He then turned his eyes towards Raiden, who had now spoken his name.
Raiden realized what he had done.
His eyes locked with Ryenar’s as he realized that Ryenar had probably been waiting for this opportunity.
A smile appeared on Ryenar’s face as his body changed and swiftly transformed into Raiden’s body.
Green scales, golden slit like eyes, and greenish brown claws.
Ryenar had become Raiden and had stolen his real name.
All that excruciating pain had vanished.
But all Raiden could do was slam his fist into the ground with such rage that a large crater formed.
He could not believe his foolishness.
He could no longer feel his name that had been imprinted on his soul.
It felt as if he was now shunned by the world.
As he raised his head, he could feel a thousand gazes on him, all red eyes from a distant, very distant place.
And then when he looked at Ryenar, he had transformed from a very ugly lizard into a beautiful green Raiden.
"Aye, your name," he stood up and leaned on the wall as if not thinking much, "Aegon? That is a powerful name..."
A smirk sat on his face, as if he was saying that he had won.
Now he would be the boss of the tenth floor.
After all, when Ryenar stole names, he also stole the skills the victims had and even their titles.
So right now, Raiden was left in a powerless state.
Sure, he had his instincts and levels left intact and could still overpower many.
But his skills? Gone.
"Good game," he muttered. "I fell for your trick... nice acting... bastard."
Raiden muttered as he remained on the ground.
He felt his soul shake as it had suffered a blow when his name was stolen.
He thought that Ryenar had acted perfectly, and he had fallen into a trap that was too obvious.
But...
Only Ryenar knew the pain he felt. Only he knew the fear he felt.
And he would know it better all too soon because the new assumed name would bring his doom.
Ding!
[The boss of the tenth floor, Aegon, has killed your named pet Stone Spider on the first floor.]
[483 Stone Spiders are in fear.]
[203 Stone Spiders pray that you save them.]
The Shaman, Azeth, and Azatoth felt a pure rage from Pebbles.
The entire village felt a small amount of pressure and gravitational force.
And Nightstone, who ran to tell about the incident on the first floor, which he knew thanks to her innate skill Telepathy, which was race specific, saw a faint red glint in Pebbles’ eyes.
She gulped hard when she saw Pebbles turn towards the direction of the dungeon.
A bloodbath was soon to begin.
