Reincarnated As A Lion In Another World-Chapter 324: Blood-Soaked
Hours had passed and the sky was getting dark.
The Super Mega Herd was no more. What had once been a wonder to Kael was now decimated into groups of displaced smaller herds.
The ground was red. Not grey, not brown like the color of dirt, just red. Soaked in the blood of the fallen. Hours had passed but the blood had not yet dried, it was still sticky.
The whole field now looked like bloody mud ground, almost a red swamp. The little amount of green came from the few tall grasses that had not been stomped or destroyed. But even they had lost their green luster. Their verdant body was smeared with the blood of those who had once fed on them.
The killing intent in the air was thick, almost breathable. The only thing that distracted everyone from thinking about it was the other operations currently going on.
Kael walked majestically through the blood-soaked battlefield. He didn’t mind the squishing sound he kept on hearing anytime his paws landed on the bloody mud. He wasn’t even focused on it.
His mind was on the expanding pool of Conquering Essence within his body. His main Conquering Essence pool was slowly getting bigger and deeper, and so was the pool he had from the heavenly beacon.
The heavenly beacon’s pool was mirroring his growth and expansion return.
He was getting stronger.
The Conquering Essence was thick in the air at this hour. Kael had conquered well, now, he was enjoying it.
He truly lived the feeling he had right now. To conquer, to subjugate, to force others to kneel before him, it filled his soul with a strange sense of joy. It felt intoxicating.
Just watching his army lay waste to their enemies and beat down all who raised their heads made him feel ecstatic. It had been this way for some time but today, Kael could feel it well.
And he loved it very much.
The more he conquered, the better he felt. It was like the Lionhood Bar feature, except this one was personal.
He almost didn’t want the feeling to end, but he was aware that it would soon fade away and be replaced with emptiness. He knew this because this was how he programmed the Lionhood Bar to work.
Soon, those lions who did not complete any missions would slowly notice that they felt really empty and numb inside whenever the Lionhood Bar was empty.
It won’t be long before they realize that the only way to feel joy and increase the percentage of their Lionhood Bar is to complete missions.
As Kael walked through the field, his body let out a faint glow that died down with a certain rhythm. The glow seemed to follow the pattern of his breathing.
The glow didn’t linger on Kael for too long because he was consciously transferring it into the Lion System to power the other features.
This campaign was too fruitful, he had gotten hold of Conquering Essence. Although it wasn’t enough for him to remove the lock he had on those ion kings and allow them access to the Conquering Essence, it was enough that he wouldn’t have to worry about running out for some time.
Once the lions in heaven start picking up their Conquering Activities, there’ll be more and more.
Kael really wondered why the lions in heaven seemed to be so lazy. It was as if they just lay around all day even though they kept on shouting "For The Conquering!" in the public group chat.
It was either that most of the activities they were doing were just bullying and not really Conquering Activities, or they were just not doing anything at all.
Kael guessed that it was his first guess. The lion civilization already had vassals unlike him. They didn’t have to go around conquering everything all over again when they already had it.
If that were the case then it would make more sense. Conquering was an action, not a state of being. They might have to allow the vassals to rebel just so that they can conquer them again.
It was a possibility that Kael might force to become a common thing in the future.
So many civilizations under the rule of the lions, one day, might get the chance to rebel and fight back, not knowing that the lions intentionally gave them space to do so.
What a good sport, Kael smiled as he thought about it.
*CAAAAWH!*
The cry of an eagle from above caused his ears to twitch slightly. He didn’t move his head to see who it was, he didn’t need to.
His massive form was very eye-catching to those still alive on his battlefield. A golden lion with blood stains all over his limbs.
There were mounds of bodies around him, piling up to form small flesh hills several meters tall.
A lot of herd creatures died today. A lot.
But Kael was satisfied, their deaths would serve as foundations for his future armies.
As for the fanatic herd groups.
The Vassal Record flashed in front of Kael’s face, showing that the number of creatures from the Super Mega Herd that had joined his kingdom was increasing.
He had started the battle with two hundred and fifty thousand, now the figure was showing more than three hundred thousand and was closing in on four hundred thousand.
This also meant that more than half of the Super Mega Herd members had died in this battle. Kael was probably responsible for the first fifty thousand or more.
He didn’t count how many creatures he had killed, he just killed as many as possible.
The herd creatures who surrendered on time were spared and made to add their identity marks to the Vassal Record, showing that they had joined the kingdom under their respective race castes.
Kael was deeply satisfied.
His eyes darted around, and he noticed a particular zebra coming from the sky toward him.
This zebra had bright yellow stripes and two wings on its back. He descended from the sky with strong winds following behind him.
He bore a striking resemblance to the mythological Pegasus from Kael’s past life.
Without delay, the winged zebra landed a few meters in front of Kael’s massive form. For the winged zebra, this was the first time he was ever looking up to a lion.
However, when his eyes jammed with the golden gaze of the lion, he felt a terrifying shiver go down his spine.
He hurriedly bowed his head and bent his knees, not daring to maintain eye contact. His heart nearly stopped beating when he realized that Kael had not stopped walking and was getting closer to him. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
"Your Majesty," The winged zebra said with terror laced in his tone. This was the golden lion they had been fighting for. He had personally witnessed this Lion tear through the thousands of creatures like a super meat grinder.
This was a powerful entity that he couldn’t afford to offend. The zebra felt that there was something deeply wrong but he couldn’t put his mind on it to think further. The whole situation with the cause they had fought for made him feel like a fog had been clouding his mind and the fog was slowly clearing away.
Even though he had this thought, he dared not act on it. He saw that no one was talking so he decided to stay quiet, it was possible that something was wrong with him.
Kael’s eyes flashed with amusement, he was able to sense the surface thoughts and intentions of this zebra.
They were waking up, Kael realized. He didn’t stop it, he didn’t try to double down on the illusion he had cast over their eyes. He allowed the illusion to slowly fade away.
It was inevitable, they would all realize that they had just fought for something that even they didn’t believe in, why?
"What is it?" Kael asked, not slowing down. His steps were heavy and resonated with the trembling zebra.
"Your Majesty, Her Highness, Priya, has appointed me as one of the enforcers for the Zebra Caste. She sent me to you," The Zebra said.
"Why?" Kael asked. He guessed that Priya was now very tired after the battle, if not, she would have just had a long-distance telepathic communication with him instead of sending someone.
The zebra shook Kael closed from his side, and the golden lion walked past him, leaving him unscathed. He breathed a sigh of relief.
"She requested that I ask you what to do with the bodies, that they are too much for her to manage," The winged zebra said as he turned around and tailed Kael from behind.
Kael Thu about it for a moment. Indeed, these new populations and the dead bodies were too much to manage at once. She would need his help.
"Fly back, tell her that we are going as planned. The feast may begin," Kael said nonchalantly.
The zebra suddenly paused his steps, confusion coloring his face, he didn’t understand what he was hearing.
"Feast?"
