Reincarnated As A Lion In Another World-Chapter 688: It’s Getting Worse
The next day.
Kael was crouched on the ground, his hands on his knees and his head buried between his knees.
His eyes were closed but his vision was filled with the flashing screens of the lion system as well as the many other systems he had created.
This was a funny position for him to be in, given how large and muscular his body was. But it didn’t matter, too many things were stressing him out for him to care that much about how he looked at the moment.
He had walked to and fro, he had jumped, jogged, sat still, crossed his legs, and all sorts of stances so that he could think straight.
Now, he was crouched and had his head lowered with his eyes closed.
What was bothering him?
A lot.
Although Kael liked to pride himself on being unaffected by most things that didn’t have to do with his goals, he had to admit that these last few events actually affected him.
He would be lying if he said that worry hadn’t crept up in his heart.
Some moments ago, Kael just started laughing and clapping his hands like a spectator watching a fantastic show.
What else could he do?
They won this time.
The dragons won.
And they got a little too close to making it permanent, to Kael’s dismay.
Kael hated how much this affected him.
Just like how many lions were feeling right now, Kael was also holding down a cold rage within him.
This was all because of that cursed President Musty.
Kael scoffed, then raised his head up. He opened his eyes to reveal a golden colder than ever.
He stared at his vicinity, his vision blank as it was still besieged by the flashes of system screens.
Kael was currently on his private continent, the super-large one that had been under construction five years ago.
Now, the continent had already been fully constructed and the foundations of a super-large pyramid could be seen taking shape in the distance.
Two billion lions and lionesses had died.
And that was just the estimate from the last time Kael checked. It should be much more than that now.
It was that bad.
That was just the First Annihilation. Kael just received word that the dragons were in the move again, chasing after the kings and spewing dragon breaths infused with reversed Conquering Essence.
There was no way to block these things.
It didn’t matter if they were on the other side of a planet, at the core, or hiding within an arkship. The reversed Conquering Essence would pass through every physical and nonphysical barrier to get to them.
And once it entered their bodies, the effect was akin to extreme radiation poisoning. The lions and lionesses had their DNAs knocked out of place.
Their skins peeled and their fangs fell out. They turned into a puddle of goo before they could even react.
Worst of all, this reversed Conquering Essence was causing glitches in the lion system after it killed the lions.
It was unknown how many heavenly beacons had been lost to this attack.
Was this what it felt like to be on the receiving end of overwhelming power?
What worried Kael was that this was just the beginning. If there was a First Annihilation, then there should be a second, a third, a fourth, and so on.
As if things were not already aggravating Kael, he also heard that the tiger civilization had joined the fray and was attacking the lions too.
When Kael heard this, he had to vent out his anger by bashing his head hundreds of times into the ground.
Since when did everything become so annoying?
Constantyne and Agatha had been allowed to stay there so that he could have a contingency plan to disrupt the tigers in case they ever decided to come after the lions.
He never thought that someone would take advantage of that to frame him.
Sure, he would have killed someone, probably the Primordial Tiger, but this wasn’t how he would have let it happen, nor would this have been the right time.
Now, Agatha was dead, Constantyne was walking, free from the exploding runes and ranting to everyone that it was the All-King that set it all up.
It didn’t even make any sense.
Agatha had been tier 5, the Primordial Tiger was a super-powerful tier 7 entity. Even if Agatha was to detonate herself ten times, it would not be enough to kill the Primordial Tiger.
Kael knew that he didn’t do it, he never stepped forward to agree or disagree that he was the one responsible. This was something that he could use to his advantage in the future but he wasn’t going to claim ownership for something he did not do.
Although some Lion Kings were skeptical, most would believe him. The All-King had no reason to hide the truth if he was the one who did it.
So what if there were consequences? The All-King would still proudly declare that he was the one who planned the death of the Primordial Tiger.
Now, the lions were being attacked from three angles.
The horses and their vassals, the dragons, and the tigers.
Luckily, Kael had noticed a pattern and immediately sent thousands of lion kings to kill any Phoenix they encountered.
He didn’t care if they were innocent or if their population was low. He wasn’t going to keep allowing his enemies to have an advantage over him.
Unfortunately, the Phoenix seemed to have also sensed that things were getting too heated for them to handle.
Not only did they run away before the lions could get to them, but they also ignored all the calls from the dragons to form an alliance.
But weren’t the lions in an alliance with the Creation Dragons?
They were.
But it wasn’t like the Creation Dragons had just been sitting still and doing nothing.
They too had been fighting in the Draconic Heaven, pushing harder and harder.
The immortals had not yet clashed, but other things had happened.
Based on what was happening, it seemed like the dragons were prioritizing the elimination of the lions more than anything else.
This was bad news for the lions but good news for the Creation Dragons.
The Destruction Dragons were so focused on fighting the lions that their defenses in heaven were pitifully weak.
It was as if they didn’t even care.
Emperor Zain would naturally not let go of such an opportunity. He still followed Kael’s strategy.
He attacked from the north coverage, maintained defense from the east, and pushed forward from the center.
The success in the mortalverse could not be reflected in the Draconic Heaven. For their success, something had to be let go.
The Destruction Dragons were barely holding up in heaven as their territories were constantly being swallowed up by their wormy cousins.
The only good thing for them was that they made sure to keep their dragon officials and heavenly beacons away from the war.
This way, the Creation Dragons could defeat the armies and amass territories but it didn’t mean that they actually owned a piece of heaven.
This was the main reason why the dragons were so willing not put so much focus on their defense in heaven. They could always turn back to fix it.
Emperor Zain knew this and was purposely directing his strongest generals to target the dragon officials of the Destruction Empire.
Emperor Zain knew that he had to put pressure on the Destruction Dragons in heaven if not the lions might not get a chance to bounce back after that devastating attack..
The All-King was not happy, everyone close to him could feel it.
And they could feel that something drastic might happen very soon.
How would it be possible for all these things to happen only for the All-King to just sit still?
He was definitely going to retaliate. Seth knew this, Ibadon knew this, Emperor Zain knew this, and Empress Elizabeth knew this.
The question was, would his retaliation be as insane as they were expecting it to be?
Some were counting on it, some were not.
The hidden forces who were not particularly of the war simply watched, knowing that if they got wrapped up in this mess, it could spell the end for them.
Neither the dragons nor the lions were merciful.
And speaking of hidden forces, the Bees who had been silent for a long time were increasing the frequency with which they appeared in the mortalverse.
The production of honey was now in full swing.
Honey was a very valuable resource to all factions and creatures. The activities of the bees would surely attract attention and lead to different outcomes depending on who acted first.
Everyone was running around, picking up as many advantages as they could get over their enemies.
Just when the lions were getting fed up with everything, an opportunity presented itself.
The All-King was presented with a golden opportunity, an opportunity that may not be gotten again.
Empress Elizabeth was preparing to make an attempt to break through to the immortal tier.
This was known to many.
But no one knew when or where she was going to do it as the method to do so usually varied.
This didn’t matter though as Kael only wanted the location. That was all that mattered to him, the location.
During the Great Purification, Kael had managed to sneak a little amount of undetectable Conquering Essence into Empress Elizabeth’s body.
Now was the time for that little trick of his to pay off.
