Reincarnated as a Novel's Villain: Creator of Curses and Blessings-Chapter 28: So that’s the so-called strength of the rich?
"Hold him back? Are you kidding me?" the second underling shouted in fear.
A chill ran down his spine as he looked at Hector’s indifferent eyes—and now he was supposed to fight that monster.
Every cell in his body screamed a warning: if he fought Hector, he would die for sure.
"I-I can’t." He stammered and staggered backward, running.
Of course, Hector never let his prey escape. He closed the gap between them at a ridiculous speed, stabbing straight through his enemy’s back, making a hole in him.
"Turning your back on your enemy is a cowardly act. Go to hell with such disgraceful behavior."
He glanced at the second underling with a disgusted look and shoved his enemy away with his hardened, steel-like hand. Then, with a swift motion of his hand that stopped suddenly midair, making the bloodstrain of his hand vanished.
He smirked and turned his attention to Max—but he had already disappeared from his spot.
He had run... no. Hector didn’t think so.
He knew exactly what kind of rotten and sly person Max was.
In the blink of an eye, Hector flinched as he sensed a murderous intent aimed at him from deep within the forest.
It even gave him goosebumps.
He giggled in excitement and drew his sword into a stance.
"Let’s see what you’ve got, scum."
At that moment, his heart skipped a beat as a lightning arrow narrowly pierced past his right ear.
And the very next moment, the arrow he had just evaded caused a massive explosion, wiping out a cluster of tall trees behind him. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
Lightly touching his tingling ear, still aching from the pain, he frowned as he surveyed the empty ground behind him. The aftermath of the explosion was severe.
But based on the number of mana cores Max currently had, there was no way he could pull off something like that.
Unless Max had been using a color-item... Hector could tell it was at least a blue-tier item.
"So that’s the so-called strength of the rich?"
In an instant, a mocking, derisive laugh echoed from deep within the forest.
"HAHAHAHAHAHA! DO YOU SEE MY POWER?! THE POWER THAT TRASH LIKE YOU COULD NEVER EVEN DREAM OF!"
Hector said nothing. He kept his focus forward. He didn’t want to be killed by the next arrow Max fired.
A color-item... well. He really wanted one too, but reality was harsh. He didn’t have much money—especially after paying the academy fees.
If he didn’t pay for an entire years of academy in advance, he would have been expelled on the spot.
And now, his remaining money was just enough for daily expenses.
"After I’m done with this mess, I need to find a proper weapon for the final exam."
Hector continued to narrowly evade Max’s arrows. He couldn’t even use his sword to deflect or block them—his weapon would shatter the moment he tried.
Wanting to kill Max, there was only one way for him.
He had to pursue Max and kill him, not letting him shoot any lightning arrows anymore.
However, Hector just scowled as he ran deeper into the forest.
He could not chase after Max with his speed, even when he used the [Shadow Stepwork] Blessing. Which meant Max also possessed a blessing related to [Shadow Stepwork], but at a much higher level.
"HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! WHAT ARE YOU DOING, USELESS TRASH!"
"WHERE IS THAT POWER FROM EARLIER?!"
The mocking laughter echoed through the forest.
Hector remained silent and kept his calm. He relentlessly glanced around, assessing the terrain of the forest, subtly drawing Max toward a proper location.
He wanted to take advantage of the terrain itself.
He danced and leaned aside, avoiding a rain of deadly arrows aimed at him. At the same time, he analyzed the surroundings to figure out the best approach.
Actually, he could summon Aharok and finish Max off right now. But it would cost quite a lot of mana.
He didn’t want to waste his remaining mana on that scum.
Then, in the very next moment, the timing finally came.
Max had fallen into his chosen spot.
Without hesitation, he summoned Aharok...however, it was different. He would do it in the most efficient way, saving as much mana as possible for the next challenge on this mountain.
CRACK! CRACK! CRACK!
The space immediately tore open, revealing a vast, empty hole.
At the next moment, a violent roar echoed from within the void. At the same time, strange gravity quickly emanated from the mysterious hole.
"W-WHAT THE FUCK!" Max screamed in bewilderment and pain as the unknown gravity engulfed his body, pulling him toward Hector at terrifying speed.
No matter what he did... he couldn’t fight back against those bizarre powers.
"N-No! FUCK YOU!"
Hector chuckled in thrill. He caught Max midair instantly and squeezed his throat tightly.
Gritting his teeth insanely, Hector slammed that bastard into the ground.
Glancing coldly at Max, writhing in agony and desperation, Hector grinned with amusement. He added extra force to his grip, making Max twist even more.
At this moment, Max looked like a vicious, sly snake struggling to escape a predator’s grasp.
"You’re done, bastard..."
Max groaned and thrashed in panic, trying to pry Hector’s hands from his throat. But it was useless—as if he was clawing at steel.
"F-Forgive me... P-Please..."
Hector just gave him a cold, merciless look. No compassion. No mercy.
A few seconds later, Max’s body went limp and motionless.
Max was dead.
Hector spat in disgust before commanding Aharok.
"Eat him. I don’t want to leave any trace."
A giggle echoed from inside the void for a moment, then gravity engulfed Max and pulled him into the hole.
The eerie sound of tearing and chewing freshness rang out briefly, then vanished as the space sealed itself.
Ting!
[A blessing has appeared. Do you want to receive it?]
