Reincarnated as a Novel's Villain: Creator of Curses and Blessings-Chapter 52: Your sacrifice will be remembered by the Lion Legion
The old soldier said:
"From now on, this place belongs to you."
Hector nodded and glanced at the shabby tent the old soldier had given him. Indeed, it couldn’t be helped.
Hector sighed and tossed himself onto the ragged rags, taking a nap before the sun rose.
Just like that, six hours passed. Hector woke up and began doing push-ups—
100 times.
Because he woke up very early, no one in the stronghold was around to see him. Well, it made sense.
3:30 a.m. while usually, the soldiers here only woke up at 5 a.m.
He let out a relaxed breath and glanced at the rising sun. Each bead of sweat rolling along his muscular lines could make any girl fall in love—but unlucky for him, girls like that didn’t appear here.
He slowly approached the water barrier to wash up, yet he frowned when he saw a black-haired girl washing her face at another water barrier.
(Violet?... Yeah, it’s her.)
He had already watched her performance in the fighting yard.
(Should I greet her?)
At that moment, she noticed him. With Hector’s low mana core, she probably assessed him as nothing more than an NPC in this game.
So, she only said a simple line to greet him.
"You did well. Waking up early and working out are things a soldier should do."
Hector smiled and replied,
"Thank you, sir. I’ll take your compliment to heart."
Violet frowned, suspicious.
"Your words are polite. They don’t fit someone with a donkey tattoo."
Hector smirked.
"Which means a slave isn’t allowed to learn? We can grow no matter how annoying things are meant to stop us."
Violet lingered for a moment before speaking.
"Sorry, I didn’t mean it that way."
Hector nodded quietly, then turned away. He headed back to his tent, raising a hand slightly.
"Don’t overthink it. I was just trying to confuse you."
Actually, Violet was quite clever and cautious. That was both her strong point and her weak point. If he said nothing, or only replied simply and cowardly, she could easily ignore him.
But he didn’t want that. He wanted to meet her again.
Sure enough, tomorrow, he could meet her again at this time. After all, he had made her interested.

"Hey, donkey. This is your job. Carry the loads to the gate of the stronghold. We depart at 8 a.m. Got it?" a soldier said.
Hector nodded.
From the discussion with the soldiers, he understood their current mission:
A special mission. They would scout a fortress and gather information inside, killing as many demons as possible.
Based on the clues the Lion Legion had, there was a demon commander there.
It was a death mission.
Obviously, he could tell that none of the students would choose this unit, even for a commander slot. It wasn’t worth risking their lives for something like that.
In other words, this unit felt like a sacrifice... no, it was realistic. Even his fellows carried an empty look, as if they were already prepared to die to protect this land.
After a five-day march, they finally arrived at the demon fortress.
Hector leaned his back against a tree branch, observing the demons entering the fortress.
He already had a plan to infiltrate it. It was simple.
He would disguise himself as a demon soldier. Yet, getting close to the fortress was hell-level difficult. He could see watchers patrolling along the fortress walls.
Because of that, even at night, infiltration was impossible.
So, he needed bait to draw the demon soldiers out.
He glanced at the soldiers sleeping below. From what he had heard, it seemed they planned to use slaves to lure the demons as well.
In other words, they intended to sacrifice him.
Of course, he could flee, or even reveal his true power to prove he wasn’t just a pawn—but that wasn’t a good move.
He didn’t want to act with them. If they acted alone, it would be better. He was afraid that foolish soldiers tried to drag him down.
On top of that, his contribution points would be much higher if he completed the mission without supporting anyone.
(Let’s do it.)
According to the initial plan, they would act tomorrow, after understanding the hours when the demon went in and out of the gate. But that meant nothing to Hector.
(Sorry)
Hector’s eyes gleamed sharply as he fired a signal flare into the sky... a fire that made no sound. Because of that, the soldiers wouldn’t be awakened from their sleep.
It was convenient that he could reach the stronghold’s arsenal using the donkey tattoo and take something useful for situations like this.
(Now I choose a proper place to wait for the demon.)
Just like that, Hector vanished into the shadows using [Dance of Shadow].
"Uh? What the fuck?" A demon widened his eyes when he saw the signal flare.
Just half a second later, his face twisted into a scowl.
"That’s a human signal flare!"
He slapped another demon who was still dozing off, making him groan in pain and collapse.
"HEY! WAKE UP! CALL EVERYONE AND MOVE TO THAT PLACE! I THINK IT’S AN AMBUSH!"
"It seems one of them accidentally triggered a flare. If so, we should take this chance."

Just like that, demon troops quickly approached the special unit, who were still sleeping peacefully.
"That’s human!... Fuck! They always do this."
"Kill him!"
"Aaaaaahhh!" A human screamed in pain as a sword pierced his chest.
"Haahahahaha! I’ll drink your blood!" A demon laughed while tearing a soldier into pieces.
"Attack the demons!"
"Everyone wake up... We’re ambushed!" A soldier shouted to warn the others.
Hector carefully watched as the demons slaughtered the human troops from a tree branch above.
"Aharok! I’ll take that demon!"
Creak!
Creak!
Creak!
A hole quickly formed in midair, and a powerful gravity force dragged in the demon who was standing away from the troops.
Hector killed him and put on the demon’s armor. He hung a red mask over his face. Since the demon hadn’t been wearing one, Hector jumped down and slaughtered the human soldier to prove he was truly a demon. The red mask was treated as spoils he had just taken from a human.
It really worked. He slaughtered the humans as if they had killed his parents.
(Sorry. Your sacrifice will be remembered by the Lion Legion.)
