Reincarnated with a lucky draw system-Chapter 489: INTERFERENCE
"Baal...," Aaron groaned weakly, his voice barely a whisper in the vast emptiness.
"Let go."
"And now you beg for mercy," Baal sneered, his fingers tightening around the throbbing organ.
"But there will be no mercy for you whatsoever."
He dragged the heart free with a wet, ripping sound, triumph blazing in his eyes.
"It’s not real! I’m not Aaron!"
"He is right. Look again," Baal heard a soft whisper from behind him, the words slithering into his mind like ice.
"Huh?" Baal paused abruptly.
Cold beads of sweat formed on his furrowed brows, trickling down his darkened skin.
He stared scrutinizingly at the Aaron before him, his third eye narrowing in suspicion.
The halo above his head pulsed erratically.
"X..." Baal muttered speechlessly, realization dawning like a bitter dawn.
His hand wasn’t clutching Aaron’s heart at all.
In reality, it held the glowing core of X, pulsing faintly with fading mechanical energy.
Baal turned slowly to see the real Aaron staring at him.
Those piercing eyes locked onto him with cold amusement, arms crossed casually.
"Why are you stopping?" Aaron asked, his tone mocking. "Finish what you started."
He glanced pointedly at Baal’s hand, still gripping X’s core tightly.
The void around them seemed to thicken with tension.
Aaron had manipulated their perceptions with his hypnosis from the very moment he had pushed them apart using his spatial ability.
Subtle illusions wove through their minds, twisting reality. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
After destroying the buster, Aaron had unleashed the hypnosis.
He deceived Baal into seeing X as him, and tricked X into viewing Baal as the enemy.
Each saw a different illusion, meticulously crafted by Aaron to orchestrate this chaotic scene unfolding before him.
"Aaron Highborn!!!!!" Baal roared, spinning toward the true Aaron.
Hatred rooted deep within him, burning like infernal fire in his chest.
"Don’t scream my name like that!" Aaron yelled back, his fist smashing into Baal’s jaw with bone-crunching force.
Baal was sent flying backward, blood spraying from his shattered mouth.
He tumbled through the void, wings flapping uselessly.
That left Aaron alone with the heavily damaged X, whose armored form sparked and flickered weakly.
"Your core. I like it," Aaron said greedily, his eyes gleaming with hunger.
He yanked the core free from X’s chest in a shower of sparks and severed wires.
"Heh." In an instant, Aaron’s strength rose rapidly.
Power surged through his veins like liquid fire, propelling him to one-star universal sector rank.
His physique hummed with newfound dominance.
"You are of no use to me," Aaron declared coldly.
He held the head of the weakened X, fingers digging into the metal.
He prepared to end the battle decisively.
Out of nowhere, a talisman flew into view.
It hovered between X and Aaron, glowing with ominous runes that pulsed in the darkness.
"Hmm?"
Before Aaron could react, the talisman detonated in a blinding flash.
The explosion hurled him backward, shockwaves rippling through his body.
Aaron recovered mid-tumble, flipping upright in the void.
He found himself facing a young man clad in dark robes, long hair flowing like midnight silk, a sleek sword hanging at his side.
"Cultivators again," Aaron muttered under his breath.
"My strong hate for you guys needs to be studied soon."
He stared at the cultivator with unbridled hatred, his fists clenching at the sight of the familiar attire and aura.
The cultivator ignored Aaron completely, turning instead to face Baal.
Baal had returned, hovering protectively beside the heavily damaged X, his wings still spread wide.
"You summoned me," the cultivator said evenly.
"What might be the trouble?"
"My universe has been destroyed," Baal replied, his voice steady despite the pain.
"I wish to formally apply to be an outer sect disciple."
"Hmm. You are aware of the peril that awaits those who go through the sect examination, right?" the cultivator asked, his tone measured and calm.
"I do," Baal answered firmly. "I have nothing to lose."
His head bowed slightly, horns casting long shadows across his face in the void’s faint light.
"Very well," the cultivator nodded.
"Then our debt will be paid after that. But before we go, did you follow my instructions?"
"Yes," Baal confirmed. "Every one in my universe has been devoured through the array you provided for me."
He nodded his head once more, the tainted halo flickering with residual power.
"Good," the cultivator said approvingly.
"With that, your chances of survival will be high."
Unsheathing his sword with a smooth, practiced motion, the man swung it in definite arcs.
Each stroke traced glowing lines in the air, activating a complex array that shimmered into existence.
"Hey," Aaron interjected, his voice laced with growing annoyance.
"How dare you ignore me?"
He stared at the cultivator, frustration boiling beneath his calm exterior.
"A pest," the cultivator muttered dismissively. "Be gone!"
He swung his sword casually toward Aaron.
A sharp sword ki sliced through the void, carving a large gap across Aaron’s chest.
Aaron’s bones and heart became visible through the wound, blood welling up in dark crimson streams.
But Aaron stood his ground, unflinching.
He stared back at the cultivator with pure annoyance, his regeneration already kicking in to knit the edges together.
"Oh? Not bad for someone at the far edge of the multiverse," the cultivator praised faintly, a hint of surprise in his eyes.
He held his sword again, gripping the hilt tighter.
He prepared to unleash an even stronger attack, ki gathering along the blade.
But in the end, he sheathed his sword with a decisive click.
The array had already activated fully, humming with teleportation energy.
With X and Baal in tow, the cultivator disappeared in a swirl of spatial distortion.
"Come back here!" Aaron yelled, his voice echoing through the void.
"I’m not done with you lot!"
He moved quickly toward the fading array, shadows trailing behind him like a cloak.
In the nick of time, Aaron entered the unstable portal.
But it was already collapsing, edges fraying with chaotic energy.
Using his masterful control over space, Aaron steadied the array to some extent.
He poured his essence into it, forcing stability long enough to transport himself.
He followed wherever Baal and the cultivator were heading, determination etched across his face as the void swallowed him whole.
