Chapter 1353: Retreating and Regrouping

Becky kept moving and fighting without taking a moment of rest for five straight hours! "I don’t know if he was some sort of a monster or what, but there is no way a normal master can pull such a constant fight without getting tired!"

She deeply sighed, feeling the toll of keeping up such a high and intense performance for a long time. Yet as she finally had a chance to catch her breath, she didn’t waste it and stood in her place for half an hour.

She didn’t stop launching the arrows every single time the enemies tried to attack or flank her. She knew her movements were closely watched by lots of dark masters. And so, she kept her vigilance high all the time.

Yet she didn’t start moving again until half an hour passed. This time she targeted the largest gathering of the enemy masters, aiming to deal a severe blow to their forces and cut any hope for them to change the tide of this battle.

As she adopted such an approach, Sara and her masters weren’t doing well. Even if William and Becky handled the headache of the dark masters for them, this wasn’t enough to stop the dark masters from attacking her force.

For long hours she tried her best to defend, to hold the deadly attacks coming constantly from two different directions. And during such a hard time, she could only follow the movements of William and Becky.

At some point she couldn’t find her man. "I’m sure he threw himself at a deadly situation like usual," the idea of him retreating never crossed her mind. She knew William for long enough to guess where he was, "aside from any battlefield here, the only place that might give him the fun he wants will be down there..."

She knew the moment William spoke with her about the dark masters that she and others were fighting on top of a big base of theirs. She didn’t know how she missed their presence, yet she wasn’t the one to be blamed!

Dark master forces got exterminated a long time ago from the Novice kingdom lands. She and others almost forgot about how scary those dirty humans were, and that was the main reason behind what happened here.

She knew better to not underestimate the threat of the dark masters. As William thought, the main threat came from those despicable masters, not from the monsters.

Yet the monsters were responsible for most of the deaths and wounds her faction suffered so far. At this point, she knew she did terribly bad for her to drop any hope of gaining the most out of this war!

"I just hope he finishes whatever he is doing fast," after a few more hours, she started to feel a little panic! The dark masters’ attack became scarcer the more time passed. Yet that wasn’t the case for the monsters!

The monsters started to grow in number with every passing hour! On top of that, it felt like they were growing in strength as well! She thought this wasn’t the case, and she felt like this thanks to the accumulated fatigue she and her masters suffered after all this time of high intensity battles!

She didn’t know that these monsters would evolve and grow in strength with time passing. If so, then she would feel more panic, as she had no way to break free from this encirclement, not for many more hours at least.

"Let’s slowly retreat," as she found no way to stop the relentless onslaught from the monsters, she decided to pull back and retreat. The chance that William and Becky bought for her and her masters was best utilised by this move.

She and others started to create distance at last between them and those monsters. And by the time she and others came close to the border of this region, Becky stopped killing the leftovers of the dark masters.

"It’s better to let them do their best as cannon fodders," she muttered when she spotted Sara coming closer, "and now it’s up to you down there to put an end to this war and join us."

Enough time passed for William to clear the underground base in her opinion. And she wasn’t way off the mark by her guess. William was fighting against the core and last group of dark masters at the central area.

As he expected, they used the time he took to arrive there to lay down tons of defensive formations. That didn’t stop him, yet he shifted to use his techniques instead of the arrows.

The result wasn’t surprising. After three hours of deadly battles at the central area, William managed to break through the densely packed defences, destroying all the formations and arrays laid there, before he started a one-sided massacre.

No one could pose a threat against him, not when he kept stacking tons of attacks over his tails before releasing them. Even when his enemies tried to run away out of fear and desperation, he used his arrows to bring as much as he could down.

In the end, he finally cleared the entire base of any enemy and took his time to gather any intel he found in the once highly defended rooms.

"That’s what I’m talking about," he paused when he grabbed a few large maps, with marks specifying the places of many dark master bases, "this isn’t just limited to this kingdom, it covers at least six kingdoms... Amazing!" 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚

He knew he hit the jackpot with these maps. He carefully stored them in one ring, intending to give them to Sara to make lots of copies, before they’d be distributed all across the current war zones.

"Time to go out," after collecting what he came for, he didn’t spare any of the dead masters around a second glance. He knew he could entrust Sara and her masters to gather all the loot here, and he didn’t expect to find anything worthy amidst all these despicable bastards.
