Chapter 49: She is Mine

I was in the middle of a boring quarterly bbriefing when my phone buzzed against the glass table. I didn’t need to check the sender—Fiona’s name usually lit up my screen with some sweet message or a carefully chosen sweet emoji. I smiled slightly, expecting the usual sweetness.

My smile vanished when i saw a photo, my hands froze as I stared at the screen. Heat surged through me, immediately, a mix of fury and disbelief. It was her—with another man. They were too close! I zoomed in on the picture and his hands were on her waist. Why was she smiling at him!

I slammed the phone onto the table. The impact made a loud sound, and I almost didn’t care that every board member in the room looked up in shock. The presenter stopped talking. Some of them glanced at me nervously, but I couldn’t meet their eyes. My blood was boiling.

Did she lie to me? Did she go out with another man and not tell me?

No! Wait. She’d mentioned Ella’s brother was driving right? Fuck!... the image burned in my mind.

How dare he put his hands on her? Only I was allowed to touch her. Only me!!

I stood up abruptly, the chair scraping against the floor, ignoring the startled gasps. "We’ll postpone this meeting. Another time," I said, my voice low, dangerous, and impossible to ignore. I didn’t wait for anyone’s reply. I walked out, my phone snapping shut in my hand.

Once I reached the solitude of my office, I grabbed the phone from the table, the screen slightly broken, my fingers were trembling with a controlled rage. I unlocked it, staring at the image again. How could anyone dare?

"Mr. Nathan," Alex greeted as he stepped in, I didn’t even turn to look at him. "Didn’t you like the presentation sir?...

I can tell the....?"

I didn’t even let him finish. "Get me a new phone," I said flatly, my voice tight with barely contained fury. Alex’s smile faltered, and he left the office quickly, knowing better than to press further.

He closed the door behind him as I sank into my chair, gripping the phone in both hands.

She is mine!! Always mine!!

I stared at the photo again, as I clenched the broken phone. My first instinct was to call her. I needed an explanation. For that picture to be taken, someone was watching her and I have to make sure she was safe. Most importantly to make anyone who even dared to look at her regret it.

But no.... Not yet.

She might still be in class. I couldn’t interrupt her, I knew Fiona. She hated drama and wouldn’t want me calling or barging in at school, making a scene, while everyone else watched.

I set the phone down carefully, my hands still trembling slightly. My mind raced, replaying every detail I knew about last night. I remembered the explanations Fiona had given me before, but not much...I wasn’t really listening. I was just glad she was home safely but now, I needed more than speculation. I needed the truth.

After long, tense moments, I made a decision. I would wait. I would see if she would come to me, if she would tell me anything. I would just need to hope—just a little—that she’d be honest.

It was excruciating. My patience was a thread stretched thin, every second felt like a test.

For now, I would just watch and wait. And make absolutely sure that anyone who dared threaten her—even unknowingly—knew that I was always one step behind.

She was mine. And I wasn’t about to let anyone—or anything—take that away.

Alex arrived with a new phone, a sleek black device that matched the one I had just discarded. He handed it to me, his expression cautious. "Here you go, Mr. Nathan. Is everything okay? You seemed... intense earlier."

I took the phone from him, my fingers closing around it like a lifeline. "I’m fine, Alex. I need you to do something for me."

"Of course, sir. What is it?" he asked, his eyes flicking to the old phone still lying on my desk.

I pulled out the SIM card and handed it to him. "Get this transferred to the new phone. And I want you to track down the number that sent me a photo earlier. I want to know who it is, where they are, and everything they’ve ever done online."

Alex’s eyebrows rose, but he nodded. "Got it. Anything else?"

I nodded, my mind clearly not stable. "The photo. I want to know where it was taken, who the guy is, and why it was sent to me. Get me everything you can find."

Alex scribbled some notes on his phone. "I’ll get on it right away. Do you... want me to handle anything else?"

I shook my head, my eyes narrowing. "No, I’ll take care of it from here. I’ll be out for the rest of the day. I’m going to pick up my girlfriend." I clenched my fist at that, ’I won’t let anyone else have her or threaten her with photos’

Alex nodded, a knowing look in his eyes. "Alright. I’ll get everything to you as soon as I have it."

I stood up, shrugging into my suit jacket. Alex slid the SIM card into the new phone handed it to me and I immediately pocketed it, feeling a sense of control wash over me. Time to go get what was mine.

"Keep this quiet, Alex," I said, my voice low. "I don’t want anyone knowing about this."

Alex nodded, his expression serious. "Understood, Sir. I’ll handle it."

I gave him a curt nod and headed out, the cool air hitting me like a slap as I stepped into the parking lot. The drive to the school was a blur, my mind fixed on Fiona and the photo. Who had sent it? And why?

I pulled up to the school gates, scanning the crowds of students milling about. I sent her a text to head out.
