Remarriage Failed Again Today-Chapter 109: Not Fighting, but Taking Back
"Honey, is she reliable?" Mrs. King asked Carla, her face etched with worry. "We don’t have much time. Your father is in the hospital, his life hanging by a thread, and Charles King is just waiting for him to die. The moment he’s gone, the entire inheritance will be his."
"That Charles King is a complete scumbag! Your father brought him home from an orphanage, raised him, gave him the company, and even had you marry him. And now he wants to take the entire fortune for himself? Not a chance! Your dad’s will states that if you divorce him, the inheritance is all yours. You can make him leave with nothing. This is a critical time—you have to hurry up!"
Carla King irritably lit a cigarette and said flatly, "I know. Don’t you think I’m trying to figure that out?"
"President King," Annabelle Linton greeted as she walked up to them.
Carla King quickly extinguished her cigarette, stood up, and extended her hand to Annabelle Linton. "Miss Linton."
Annabelle Linton offered her left hand for a brief shake. A waiter pulled out a chair for her, and she sat down gracefully.
Mrs. King scrutinized Annabelle Linton’s injured forehead and hand, frowning slightly with a hint of doubt in her eyes.
"Honey, are you sure about this?" Mrs. King whispered. "She doesn’t look very reliable to me. How old is she? Can she really help you?"
Carla King shot her mother a glare, then turned to Annabelle Linton apologetically. "I’m so sorry, Miss Linton. My mother insisted on coming along. She’s very blunt, so please don’t take anything she says to heart."
Then she turned to introduce her to Mrs. King. "Mom, this is my boss’s daughter, Annabelle Linton. She studied abroad."
Mrs. King said, "Oh," then whispered, "Is she also fighting her father for the family fortune?" 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
Carla King secretly pinched her mother.
’I really regret this.’
’I never should have brought her here.’
Annabelle Linton gave Mrs. King a cool glance, a small smile playing on her lips as she corrected her. "I’m not fighting for it. I’m taking back what’s mine. The company always belonged to my brother and me."
Hearing her tone of absolute certainty, Mrs. King couldn’t help but look at Annabelle Linton again.
Annabelle looked back at her, her gaze languid and cold. She seemed nonchalant, yet it was as if she had everything under control.
Sensing that Annabelle Linton was no ordinary person, Mrs. King fell silent.
Carla King, much calmer than her mother, looked at Annabelle Linton. She glanced at the two waiters nearby and waved her hand, dismissing them.
Once the waiters had left, she said hesitantly, "Miss Linton, you said you have a way to help me get a divorce. I’d like to hear what your plan is, so we can consider it."
Annabelle Linton smiled calmly and said coolly, "I’ve reviewed the marriage agreement between you and your husband. There’s a clause stating that if he cheats on you, you can immediately have him leave with nothing. I plan to use that. As long as you, President King, agree to my terms, I can get you that divorce by tonight."
"That’s your plan?"
Carla King’s brow furrowed, a mix of irritation and anger in her voice. "Miss Linton, I’m afraid you don’t understand. Charles King is a sly old fox. All these years, he’s been lurking by my father’s side just to get his hands on the family fortune. He’s a phenomenal actor—he fooled every single one of us."
"This is a critical time, so he’s being extremely cautious. I’ve already thought of this plan and tried it many times. He stays away from other women. This method won’t work."
"You don’t need to worry about that, President King. If I say I can get you the divorce, then I have my ways."
Annabelle Linton’s expression was unchanged as she looked at her coolly. "I’ve shown you my good faith. Now I’m just wondering what you’ve decided, President King."
Carla King pressed her lips together, deep in thought.
