Remarriage Failed Again Today-Chapter 112: Scheme 3
"What, you think I’ve got nothing better to do?" Mrs. King shot back. She couldn’t hide the smile on her face, so happy she was practically dancing.
"Mom, are you sure that’s the right expression for this?" Carla King asked, staring speechlessly at her mother’s excitement.
’Seriously, is this woman really my mother? My husband cheated on me—with his own sister—and she’s *smiling* about it?’
"No, I’m just too excited. This kind of drama—where the wife finds out her husband is cheating, catches the mistress in bed, and then gives them a brutal beating—I’ve been playing that scene out in my head for ages. It’s a shame your dad, that useless bum, was too faithful. I could only ever imagine it. Now I finally get to see it for real. This is so exciting!"
"I’ve never met anyone as weird as you. You actually *wish* your own husband would cheat, don’t you? Besides, the one cheating is my husband. That’s a whole generation removed from you. What are you so excited about?" Carla King was even more at a loss for words.
"Oh, right. So you’re saying I get to keep my husband *and* see a good show? HAHAHAHA, how did I get so lucky? HAHAHA..."
Carla King: "..."
’She had no idea what to do with this woman.’
"Hey, what’s with that expression? Don’t tell me you actually have feelings for that bastard Charles King. I’m telling you, I forbid it. This is non-negotiable. My daughter, Judith Kramer’s daughter, can’t be so spineless," Mrs. King said fiercely.
"Mom, don’t forget, you and Dad were the ones who forced Charles King on me. I have no feelings for him. What do you want to eat? Annabelle and I already ordered... but never mind, I’ll order for you." Carla King took the iPad again to order, clearly unconcerned.
"Oh, right. How could I forget? HAHAHA, that’s wonderful! My dear girl, don’t you worry. Mom will introduce you to someone much better." 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
Mrs. King was a straightforward woman whose emotions came and went in a flash. She had just been laughing, but now her expression turned wistful. "I wonder when my old man will get better."
"What’s wrong with your husband?" Annabelle Linton asked after she finished ordering, seeing Mrs. King’s sad expression.
"He has a tumor in his brain. The prognosis isn’t good. The doctor said there isn’t much hope." Mrs. King’s expression grew even more dejected.
"Mrs. King, I’m a doctor," Annabelle Linton said, looking at her. "Send me the details of his case later, and I’ll review them for you."
"Really?" Mrs. King was overjoyed.
"Yes. I went to medical school. Once my hand heals in a couple of days, I can perform the surgery on your husband. Or we can figure out another solution. Don’t give up hope."
Tears welled in Mrs. King’s eyes. "That’s wonderful. It looks like my old man can be saved."
’That jogged Carla King’s memory. She recalled hearing from an employee that their boss’s daughter was a Ph.D. who had studied abroad at the world’s top medical school. And she was married to Leona Grant, the CEO of the Grant Group.’
’The rumors about her marriage, however, weren’t good.’
Carla King was overjoyed as well. "Thank you, Annabelle. I’m sure you can cure my father."
After she said this, she asked about Annabelle Linton’s marriage. Seeing Annabelle’s indifferent expression, she realized they were a lot alike.
Married for the sake of being married, with no feelings for their spouse.
As they were speaking, a text message came in from the contact Annabelle Linton had arranged. It said Wendy King had just entered Charles King’s room.
And so, the three women began their preparations as they ate.
