Remarriage Failed Again Today-Chapter 56: The Only Thing He Didn’t Dislike About Her
If Grandfather doesn’t agree, getting this divorce won’t be easy.
Annabelle Linton’s eyes narrowed. ’Looks like I’ll have to come up with a proper plan...’
When Leona Grant heard his grandfather’s words, he instinctively glanced at Annabelle Linton.
Annabelle Linton kept her head down, eating, showing no particular reaction. Clearly, she wasn’t taking the matter to heart either.
’Of course. She was so desperate for a divorce, how could she possibly have a child with me?’
Leona Grant’s lips curved slightly as he replied perfunctorily, "Grandfather is right. If we put our hearts into it, there’s no reason we can’t conceive. I already answered this question this morning. Annabelle and I will try our best, so please rest assured, Grandfather."
Upon hearing this, the old man’s expression finally softened. He looked toward Annabelle Linton, and his stern features were tinged with a bit of warmth. "Annabelle, what are your thoughts on this?"
’My thoughts?’
’Grandfather, I want a divorce. What would you think about *that*?’
’But ideals are grand, while reality is stark.’
Annabelle Linton looked up, smiled faintly, and echoed his sentiment, "My thoughts are the same as Leona’s. I’ll defer to you in this matter."
Leona Grant raised an eyebrow at her. The corner of Annabelle Linton’s mouth twitched in resignation as she shot him a brief, indifferent glance.
’It was true, her thoughts were the same as Leona Grant’s.’ 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
’He wanted to divorce her, and she wanted to divorce him.’
Leona Grant watched Annabelle Linton with a devilish look, a sharp glint flashing in his eyes.
’He wasn’t sure why, but he found this new version of Annabelle Linton to be inexplicably interesting.’
’Cool, languid, and unaffected, she gave off a feeling of aloofness, of being free-spirited and independent.’
’Arrogant, yet possessing an inborn indifference, a natural elegance and distance.’
’Yes, that was the feeling. Ever since she’d woken up, she had been radiating this exact aura.’
’And he was discovering that this version of Annabelle Linton was much, much better than the old one.’
...
That evening, Leona Grant went to the office to work overtime as usual. It was hard to say if he was truly busy or just making an excuse, but at least it was a reason no one could fault him for.
Annabelle Linton, however, was thrilled. As long as she didn’t have to share a bed with him, she would’ve been happy to sleep on the floor.
Standing on the balcony, she gazed up at the vast, star-filled sky when suddenly, a volley of beautiful fireworks shot upward.
The dazzling fireworks in the sky made her beautiful eyes sparkle. She reached out a hand, as if to feel these beautiful surprises, but the light in her eyes dimmed bit by bit.
’Grandfather, when you find out what’s going to happen tomorrow, will you blame me?’
’But if I don’t do this, how else can I divorce Leona Grant...?’
...
「Daylight broke, marking the start of a new day.」
Leona Grant looked at the woman lying beside him, his eyes filled with a mixture of curiosity and amusement.
Lately, he’d been working overtime until late at night. The truth was, it wasn’t that he had that much work to do—he just couldn’t sleep.
He was in excellent physical condition, so typical sleeping pills had no effect on him. Taking too many would be bad for his health, so he was stuck with total insomnia.
But when he’d returned late last night, he had felt drowsy the moment he lay down.
In fact, it was the best night’s sleep he’d had in the past two weeks.
Leona Grant wasn’t so foolish as to not understand the reason.
Annabelle Linton’s body always gave off a faint scent of lavender, which seemed to have a tranquilizing effect, allowing one to sleep soundly through the night.
It was probably the only thing about her that he didn’t dislike in the past two years.
But for the past two weeks, ever since Annabelle Linton had started sleeping in a separate room, he hadn’t had a single decent night’s sleep.
