Retired for A Hundred Years: Re-Employment for the Apocalypse Bigshot!-Chapter 445 - 440: Beijing Training Camp (Part 18)
Ji Ning walked into the meeting room at exactly nine o’clock.
Amidst the surprised looks from the students, he walked straight to an empty seat at the side of the conference table and sat down.
"Let me introduce myself, Ji Ning, currently an A-level detective in the Security Department. Some of you might already be aware of my identity, so I won’t elaborate further. The reason for calling you here today is mainly to discuss two things.
First, during yesterday’s training session, an ordinary student, that boy sitting in the corner yawning..."
Startled by the uniform glances, Cao Zongming instantly woke up, his mouth still half-open, unusually embarrassed.
Ji Ning withdrew his gaze and continued, "His leg was almost crippled yesterday."
"What?"
"What happened?"
The students were very surprised and looked at Cao Zongming again.
In their eyes were worry, confusion, and inquiry.
Forced into the spotlight, Cao Zongming wished he could bury his head in his pants, his face turning red.
Internally, he was gnashing his teeth and muttering.
But hearing Ji Ning’s next sentence, he immediately sat up straight.
"This was not a coincidence; it was calculated by someone."
Cao Zongming blurted out, "Who? Who plotted against me?"
He spent half the night thinking about the strange events of the day but couldn’t pinpoint what was odd.
The truth Ji Ning provided was logically sound.
In theory, he shouldn’t doubt it, but something about it felt off.
He wanted to ask his clever fourth brother but was afraid of disturbing his rest. In the end, he could only torment himself.
It turned out he wasn’t overthinking; there really was something going on.
Seeing him standing up excitedly, Ji Ning gestured for him to sit down.
Cao Zongming had to suppress his eagerness and sat down, his eyes wide open, not wanting to miss a single word Ji Ning would say next.
"After investigation, the purpose of this group is to sabotage the training and competition. You all know this year’s competition rules include ordinary people competing alongside superpower users. This means the two groups will break the barriers between them, understand each other better, and reduce some information discrepancies."
The students present, whether superpower students or ordinary students, all agreed with Ji Ning’s statement.
In the past two days of interaction, they indeed broke many cognitive discrepancies.
Not all superpower students are aloof, indifferent, and look down on ordinary people. They also have their favorite games, celebrities, foods, enjoy browsing Star Entertainment, chatting about gossip, and desire friendships with peers.
On the other hand, ordinary people aren’t as fragile as superpower students imagined. Many of them have excellent physical qualities, and when superpowers aren’t used, they might even outcompete superpower users in some areas.
Compared to adults’ treacherous schemes, the feelings among students are much purer.
As long as interests align and personalities match, they quickly accept each other.
"However, this behavior has threatened the interests of some people. They want you to remain divided, never having too much interaction. So, they sent people to deliberately harm ordinary students, framing superpower students to collapse the trust between you again, cancel the training and competition, and return everything to its starting point."
Ji Ning’s expression remained unchanged, but his voice grew colder.
The students were angry and puzzled, with some slamming the table and standing up.
"Why?"
"Why would they do this?"
"Isn’t it a good thing that we are friendly?"
"Why intentionally do such a thing?"
...
Ji Ning looked at the outraged students, his face calm.
"Because some of them are afraid. They’re afraid that eliminating the cognitive differences between the two groups will threaten their family’s lofty rights and interests."
The students paused, seemingly understanding something.
Ji Ning showed a faint smile, "I know many of you were taught since childhood that family comes first, that family interests are paramount, and how to use ordinary superpower users for your family’s service. But do you really think this idea is correct? Or do you really believe you are the one to ultimately benefit in the family?"
The students showed contemplation, awkwardness, and a sense of helplessness.
Ji Ning tapped the remote on the table, turning on the Smart Brain screen in front.
A detailed list appeared before everyone’s eyes.
It included names they were very familiar with and many faces they had seen among their elders.
The identities and statuses of these individuals were among the forefront of authority in Hua Continent.
"Recognize them? These are the behind-the-scenes participants, and yesterday’s event wasn’t the only one. Those of you here are also just pawns in their plans. If we don’t stop this, you will face accidents one after another during the upcoming training, potentially ruining your lives."
"Impossible! My grandpa wouldn’t let someone harm me?" a student shouted in disbelief, looking at Ji Ning with a glare as if she was maliciously trying to sow discord between his grandparent and him.
Ji Ning smiled, "You’re not his only grandson, are you? You already have an elder brother designated as the heir, and your talent isn’t outstanding. Sacrificing you doesn’t really affect your family, right?"
Ji Ning’s words made the student’s face turn pale, his expression becoming extremely unpleasant.
She looked at other students, "I did some research, and those of you planned to be sacrificed are either children from rival families or kids who won’t inherit the family business. Sacrificing you doesn’t affect the family status, helps strike against rivals, and sabotages the competition, securing the family’s future power—a pretty neat and vicious plan."
The students showed anguish, with a few soft-hearted girls quietly weeping.
In the corner, Cao Zongming was even angrier.
He was not unimportant in his family, so whoever plotted against him must be from the Cao family’s enemies.
He hadn’t yet gotten involved in family business, nor did he know which of the names were enemies of his father.
Gu Sili pondered for a moment before asking, "Since you’ve already got the list, what do you intend to do next?"
Ji Ning’s eyes flashed with admiration.
As expected from a Gu Family child, sensitive in handling information.
She tapped the table, prompting the students who were saddened to raise their heads to look at her.
"Those who did wrong must face punishment."
Gu Sili showed vigilance, "What do you want us to do by inviting us here?"
Ji Ning smiled, "I need you to do me a small favor."
"What kind of favor?" 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
"Send a message to your parents, relatives, and friends, reminding them to immediately check the Star Entertainment news."
As soon as she said this, the students’ Smart Brain devices chimed with a system alert.
Looking down, they saw their screens filled with notifications of scandalous news about their family’s authoritative figures.
There were infidelities, embezzlement, affairs, illegitimate children aplenty, and transactions of power and sex; the most brutal of them all linked to a past murder case.
Ji Ning observed their world-shattering expressions and said calmly, "You can send the message now."
