Return of the Immortal Emperor Daddy-Chapter 304 - 306 This is a Beautiful Misunderstanding [5/5]
Inside the examination room, invigilators paced about. They were teachers from Jixia Academy's elementary division, and they would occasionally stand beside the children to see how they were progressing on their exams. One female teacher stopped behind a little girl. After glancing at her exam paper, the teacher's eyes widened, and she froze on the spot. Noticing her reaction, the other teachers walked over, curious about what was on the girl's paper. When they saw it, their pupils widened slightly as well. After the little girl finished her essay, the teachers exchanged a glance and nodded.
"Child, where is your guardian?" the female teacher kindly asked.
The little girl pointed to Wu Tian outside the window.
The female teacher looked over, and her eyes lit up. What a refined man.
"Her family must be very learned," a middle-aged teacher remarked with emotion.
"Let's not get into that," the oldest teacher chuckled. He then looked at the little girl and said, "Take your exam paper and come with me."
Under his guidance, the little girl took her paper and left the examination room.
The other children in the room had no idea what was happening. Some immediately suspected she was cheating. A few cleverer ones, however, looked on with envy. They guessed that the little girl must have done exceptionally well on her language exam and might be allowed to skip a grade. Whether they themselves could skip a grade would depend on their performance on the remaining exams. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
「Wu Tian also followed the teachers, heading to the principal's office.」
The principal's office was a distinctive, single-story wooden cabin painted white, built in a European style.
When Wu Tian and the little girl entered, they saw the same elderly man who had been selling mung bean soup earlier, now typing on a keyboard.
"What brings you here?" the elderly man asked, though his tone held no surprise.
After all, Wu Tian was now quite famous in Yang City, and the little girl was not without her own reputation as the champion of the Divine Doctor Conference.
"Principal," one of the teachers began, "you know I teach in the elementary division. This child's writing, her syntax and punctuation, is already at a middle school level. I don't believe she's suited to remain in elementary school."
"Is that so?" the elderly man chuckled, turning his gaze to the little girl again. "And what do you think?"
The little girl thought for a moment, then calmly met the elderly man's gaze and spoke confidently. "Respected grandfather, I don't really want to be an elementary school student. I'd be fine in middle school, and I think I can handle the work. I can't claim to know all Three Hundred Tang Poems, but I definitely know all the ancient poems that elementary students learn. As for other subjects, I used to get bored at home by myself, so I used the computer to learn quite a bit. I should be at the level of an elementary school graduate. If you don't believe me, you can give me an exam to prove it, right?"
The middle-aged teacher looked at the girl skeptically, but the elderly man's eyes lit up. When speaking of literary geniuses, many people thought of foreigners. Dragon Country had plenty of its own, yet they were often subconsciously overlooked. People were quick to mention names like Edison and Einstein, especially from the modern era.
The elderly man looked at Wu Tian and smiled. "My surname is Kong, my given name is Zhiyuan, and my style name is Datong. Your child wishes to skip to middle school, but that depends on whether you, as her guardian, agree."
"I agree," Wu Tian replied without the slightest hesitation.
He wasn't the least bit surprised by the little girl's performance. First, she was naturally intelligent. Second, there was the Zongheng Jing. This cultivation method had many wondrous uses. One of them was its ability to unlock a person's potential, bringing forth everything they had ever seen or learned and allowing them to extrapolate new knowledge from a single principle. It was said that throughout all of history, the talent of the Empress was second only to that of the Creation Martial Emperor.
Kong Zhiyuan nodded. If her guardian had no objections, then neither did he. Besides, he was also curious—what grade level was this little girl truly at? He looked at the middle-aged teacher and said, "Go to the middle school division and bring back a set of exams. Hmm, a mock high school entrance exam would be best."
"For her to take?" the middle-aged teacher asked, stunned. Could the principal really think this child could get a decent score on the high school entrance exam?
Kong Zhiyuan nodded. "Yes. Go get it quickly." Then, he turned and asked the little girl with a smile, "Is that alright with you, little one?"
The little girl smiled faintly. "No problem. Bring it on."
Her fearless expression made Kong Zhiyuan laugh. He couldn't help but take a liking to this child; he would like her even if her academic performance was poor. It couldn't be helped. Many people judged by appearances, and the child's adorable looks certainly earned her bonus points.
Eager to see just how much of a genius the child was, the middle-aged teacher hurried to the middle school division, retrieved the mock exam, and quickly returned.
As the little girl picked up her pen to answer, Kong Zhiyuan and the middle-aged teacher immediately leaned in, eager to see what she would write. Only Wu Tian remained unconcerned, calmly gazing at the scenery outside the window. He was perfectly at peace. Academic performance isn't that important in this day and age. The saying 'every trade has its master' is no longer just empty words; the top figures in any industry are all wealthy. Besides, he had complete confidence in the little girl.
The first task, of course, was to write her name. The little girl simply wrote down her nickname: Gugu.
Kong Zhiyuan frowned slightly. Does she not have a formal name? Or has one not been chosen yet for some special reason?
But a moment later, he had no time for such thoughts. The little girl's handwriting had already made both him and the middle-aged teacher's eyes go wide. The characters looked simple and plain, yet they possessed a spirit, a profound essence!
It was common knowledge that good handwriting could be developed through practice, but for one's writing to possess a soul was another matter entirely. For example, anyone could read the Buddhist Scriptures, but how many could truly grasp the "Buddha-intent" within them? Everyone could see the Buddha smile as he held up a flower, but who could clearly explain *why* he smiled?
Kong Zhiyuan was astounded. How does this child normally practice her calligraphy to possess such spirit in her writing at such a young age?
"How do you normally educate this child?" Kong Zhiyuan got straight to the point, turning to ask Wu Tian directly.
Unexpectedly, Wu Tian wore a complicated expression, a hint of an amused smile playing on his lips.
Kong Zhiyuan didn't understand the meaning behind his look.
In truth, Wu Tian didn't know how to respond. The little girl had never practiced calligraphy. She had been practicing the Martial Path by lifting a massive jar, achieving the Realm where great weight felt light as a feather. The so-called spirit in her writing was actually the 'intent' forged through her cultivation of the Zongheng Jing.
Unfortunately, Kong Zhiyuan and the others had completely misunderstood.
However, Wu Tian had no intention of explaining. He decided to let it remain a beautiful misunderstanding.
Kong Zhiyuan subconsciously assumed Wu Tian was being secretive. If Wu Tian was so outstanding and the little girl was as well, what did that imply? In Kong Zhiyuan's view, the Wu Family must have a special method for educating their children—a method he very much wanted to learn.
