Return of the King, Dominating the City-Chapter 1595 - 1489: One Thing After Another
"They even invited the Hong Sect to come out, to seek justice for them."
"Hong Sect?" Song Yun’s breath tightened as he seriously looked at the man and asked.
"Yes, the Hong Sect."
"How did they appear? Their sphere of influence is entrenched in the Southern region. How could they be dealing with Northern matters?" Song Yun frowned, pulled a cigarette from his pocket, lit it, and asked.
"In recent decades, the sect’s power has increased significantly. Some even chant the slogan ’North Azure Dragon, South Hong Sect’. This is also a provocation to them. Naturally, such a superpower doesn’t like having a strong opponent rise up. So, it’s only natural they step in."
The man heard Song Yun’s questions and explained the prepared answer.
Song Yun looked the man up and down, then chuckled: "Go on, who taught you these lines? You’re not someone interested in such matters."
"Of course, it was the old man," the man said frankly. He knew he couldn’t fool Song Yun, nor did he intend to hide it. Their master-apprentice relationship was strange; the master often relayed through him things he wanted his disciple to know, and although the disciple respected his master greatly, he still called him the old man, and their relationship seemed cold. Both were peculiar.
"Hmm. Why did the old man tell you to inform me of this? What’s his plan to deal with the Hong Sect?" Song Yun asked with a smile.
"He’s not planning to deal with them," the man shook his head.
"What do you mean?" Song Yun was a bit puzzled; could he really just let them have their way?
"He’s planning to discuss with the Sect Master about making you the Sect Leader or succeeding him as the Great Elder."
"Hmm???"
The Hong Sect is an incredibly terrifying entity, much stronger than the Green Sect. What’s more frightening is that it has forsaken the idea of an organized entity, existing in a half-secluded, half-worldly state. Song Yun never imagined that one day he would have to face such a force. With the resources he currently possessed, he could barely hold his own against them, but Song Yun had just had a child.
It’s infuriating that the old man wants to wash his hands of everything and leave all the problems to him. Asking him to return and take over as Sect Leader at this moment is insidious to the extreme.
Song Yun is an optimistic person; even with a knife at his throat, he could hum the tune of "Let’s Paddle Together". Although he heard some very bad news and felt a bit heavy-hearted, he didn’t let this emotion show on his face. Life is a struggle. You’re either the attacker.
Or you’re the defender. No matter your position, the key is to make yourself comfortable.
Just as he was making his way back, his phone rang. Song Yun answered and hastily returned with a grim expression.
When he arrived, Song Yun quickly called over a subordinate and drove to the First Hospital in the capital. On the way, Song Yun couldn’t stop smoking, frantically puffing.
After arriving at the First Hospital, Song Yun hurried to the inpatient department, seeing Li Yueyue, Liu Ran, and Xia Tian waiting outside. He frowned and slowly walked over.
"What happened to Xiao Qing?" Song Yun asked through gritted teeth.
"Sister Qing... Sister Qing... Sigh, Sister Xia Tian, you explain," Li Yueyue said reluctantly.
"Here’s what happened..." Xia Tian explained everything that transpired.
After the banquet, the women planned to visit the night market. In the meantime, Xiao Qing went to the restroom. Suddenly, the women outside heard screams from the restroom, and when they rushed over, they found Xiao Qing already collapsed on the ground. But that wasn’t the main issue... the main issue is that Xiao Qing was disfigured...
She was splashed with sulfuric acid, and if Xiao Qing hadn’t been trained in martial arts and agile, dodging most of it, she might have ended up in the morgue by now.
Even though she avoided most of the acid, some drops hit her face, leaving half of her face disfigured. For a young woman in her prime, this is extremely frightening and vicious.
Qingluan, worried about further changes, took Li Shishi back to the Song Family, while the skilled Xia Tian stayed in the hospital.
After hearing the news, Song Yun sat in a hospital chair, lit a cigarette, and waved Black Flood Dragon over from a distance.
"Have you caught the person?" Song Yun asked with a gloomy face.
"Not yet, Brother Yun. This time, it’s our fault for being careless. We didn’t expect the enemy to use such despicable means," Black Flood Dragon said with deep remorse.
"Deploy everyone we have! Everyone! Find that person for me!" Song Yun suddenly roared. "If you can’t find them by noon tomorrow, then just leave!"
"Calm down," Xia Tian patted Song Yun on the shoulder.
"Ah, sorry, Black Flood Dragon. I lost my composure earlier. It’s not your guys’ fault... After all, normally you can keep up, but not in the restroom," Song Yun stood up and sighed. Then, he took the cigarette from his mouth and placed it in Black Flood Dragon’s mouth, sighing again. "Let the brothers search. I want to see who’s trying to make things difficult for me at such a critical moment."
"Yes, Brother Yun. If we can’t find the person! I’ll come to you and sister-in-law with my head!" A cold glint flashed in Black Flood Dragon’s eyes. After speaking, he arranged for the personnel and turned to leave.
"How’s Xiaoqing doing now?"
"She’s awake, the doctor is in checking her."
Song Yun nodded, pushed open the door, and saw cups, pills, fruits, pillows, and tissues scattered on the floor.
"Miss Xiao, you have to trust our hospital. We can really heal your injuries, but you need to cooperate with us. If you refuse to change your bandages, there’s no way we can treat you," a nurse in white sincerely advised.
"Yes, Miss Xiao, our hospital’s dermatology department is renowned in the country, and Dr. Gu, who is treating you, is an authority in this field. We’ve had cases even more severe than yours, and he managed to heal them," another nurse added.
"All of you get out! Get out!" Xiao Qing sobbed into the covers.
"Miss Xiao, you have to trust us. As long as you’re willing to cooperate, we can definitely heal you, but it will take some time. Moreover, our hospital is in contact with Germany’s Massi Hospital, and we’re bringing in a world-famous dermatologist to treat you. Miss Xiao, let’s change the bandages. It will only take a little bit of time. We’re quick, otherwise, we’re in a tough spot too," the tall nurse continued to persuade, with a faint smile directed at Song Yun as he entered the room.
"A little time? How long is that? A week? A year? A lifetime?" Xiao Qing questioned, clearly pessimistic about her condition.
"Just a week." 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
This time, it wasn’t the nurses who answered but Song Yun standing at the door.
"You’re lying," Xiao Qing was about to retort, but suddenly realized the voice was wrong. It wasn’t the nurses but Song Yun’s. Still, she refused to lift her head from the covers, and after a moment’s silence, she shouted, "Brother Song Yun, go away. I don’t want to see you now, and I especially don’t want you to see me like this."
