Chapter 506: Chapter 505- Take a rest

"By the way," Ruby muttered as she set her spoon down and turned to Adrian, "did you see Sarah at the venue?"

They were currently in an eatery which was quite big and spacious.

Despite having more than a hundred customers, the place didn’t appear crowded.

Servers were threading through the tables, holding food and drinks.

At the moment, everyone was mostly talking about the incident with Clark. Naturally, Adrian and his group were getting looks as well but that didn’t affect them at all.

Adrian shook his head. "No... why?"

Ariana chuckled. "I’m sure the next time she sees us, her greeting will be very different."

Annabelle growled. "I’m just waiting for her to try and start a fight. Then I’ll get back at her for everything she’s done to my darling." As she finished speaking, she tore the meat off the bone and began chewing with enthusiasm.

Adrian gently wiped the sauce from the corner of her lips and said, "If I’m judging this right, Sarah wouldn’t be displeased by what happened."

Ruby nodded. "You think so too?"

Ariana hummed. "How so? I mean, her father might have just faced the worst humiliation of his life."

Adrian gave a wry smile. "That’s a bit harsh, dear. I was only stating facts."

Ariana grinned. "Well, honesty tends to be bitter for many. I’m sure by now Clark is already inventing his next armament just to deal with you."

Adrian chuckled and shook his head. Then, scooping some rice onto his spoon, he said, "Sarah is a sensible person. She may have been rude to me in the past, but she was never foolish enough to trust something blindly."

Ruby nodded. "Even though my time around them was short, I could tell Sarah wasn’t devoted to her father. She sometimes even berated him, though never to his face, for his obsessive behavior."

Ariana hummed. "Well, my grudge against her aside, she does strike me as an honest person, someone who would stand against evil even if that evil wears a familiar face."

Adrian nodded in agreement.

Before long, the server arrived with dessert.

Plates of apple pie, fruit cake, and pudding were set before them.

"God... I feel like I’ve gained weight after how much I’ve eaten today and last night," the redhead muttered as she sliced into the pie and enjoyed the savory treat.

She wasn’t used to overeating, especially so late at night. And with barely an hour of sleep, she felt unusually heavy.

Ariana sighed after finishing her bite of fruit cake. "Same. I’ve been doing nothing but resting these past few days, thanks to this worrywart fiancée of mine."

Ever since she’d been injured during the ambush, her idea of exercise had been limited to walking from Adrian’s room to her office, and then back again.

Adrian smiled warmly and, holding both of his fiancées’ hands, said, "I wouldn’t mind if you both put on a little weight."

Ruby froze, her eyes widening as she looked at Adrian, a smile forming on her lips before she could stop it. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂

Ariana scoffed, but the way the tips of her ears turned red betrayed how little she was actually unaffected.

Seeing their shy reactions, Annabelle pouted. "Darling? What about me?"

Adrian shook his head. "No, you need to exercise regularly."

Annabelle’s eyes widened before she cried out in frustration.

The other two burst into laughter at the same time.

....

After lunch, Adrian teleported everyone to Ruby’s house.

Why? Well, Ruby had some work to take care of, but she didn’t want to part ways just yet. So Ariana suggested that they hang out at Ruby’s place. That way, Ruby could finish her work while still being together with everyone.

Naturally, Ruby agreed without hesitation, and that was how they ended up in her room.

"Hm... not my first time here, but damn, this room is huge," Ariana muttered as she looked around.

Annabelle had already collapsed onto the bed and looked halfway into a deep slumber.

Ruby chuckled. "I chose this room because of the sunlight and the quiet."

She remembered how, back in the academy, she always preferred staying indoors, burying herself in her studies.

She hadn’t had many friends, and even those few rarely spent time together, as they were all just as ambitious as she was.

That was why she had spent most of her days alone in this room, by herself.

But now, this change, the presence of these people in her life, was something she welcomed with her whole heart.

Soon, Ruby became absorbed in her work. Annabelle had already fallen asleep, and to avoid disturbing Ruby, Ariana and Adrian spoke in little more than whispers.

"You can go, you know," Ariana suggested, leaning against the headboard. "You’ve got at least four hours, and it’s not like you’re doing anything here."

Ariana knew Adrian had promised to visit Scarlette. Something was happening in her world, something that could spiral into catastrophe.

And knowing Adrian, she could tell that no matter what was happening around him, a part of his mind was still occupied by her.

Adrian sighed and shook his head. "No, it’s fine. I’ll go after I finish dinner with the Emperor. That way I won’t rush things just to get back here."

He knew that whatever was unfolding in Scarlette’s world would take time. And because of that, he did not want to bind himself to a deadline.

Holding Ariana’s hand he added, "And right now, I want to spend time with you all."

It’s not regular that all four of them could spend time like this, leisurely and be involved with nothing serious.

Yes, Scarlette’s situation was important but these people here were important too.

"Then how about you take a nap instead?" Ruby said without lifting her eyes from the document, "You haven’t slept since last night and you have a long night ahead."

Ariana nodded in agreement, "For the sake of better focus you should sleep. Now, don’t argue and sleep here." She said while patting on the pillow beside her.

Adrian sighed and asked, "Are you really sure?"

Ariana nodded, "You might be stronger now but sleep is necessary for everyone."

Ruby hummed, "While we can rest later, you will need to work maybe the whole night and then tomorrow is final exams too."

Adrian didn’t argue with them further. The fact was, he was actually feeling quite tired.

As such, he laid beside Ariana.

The silver head softly ran her fingers through his hair and not so long after, he drifted into dream lands.
