Return of the Mythic Bloodline-Chapter 379: Things we do for love
"N-Nymeria, those memories, why..." ๐๐ป๐ฎ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐๐๐๐ธ๐ซ๐๐ก.๐ฌ๐ธ๐
Nymeria placed her finger on Taranisโs lips and slowly moved her forehead away from his.
From her neck, she removed a locket, the same locket she had given him when he left for the war against demons, and placed it around Taranisโ neck.
Her face carried a bright smile, and a tear rolled down the corner of her eye.
Along with the tear, blood flowed from her eyes, nose, and mouth as she whispered in a barely audible voice,
"Goodbye, Taranis."
---
Few minutes earlier...
"So she is really going to marry that trash tomorrow," Aurelion muttered in a low voice as the guards opened the door to his room.
"We tried to convince her countless times," Lunaria replied, carrying the same troubled expression on her face. "She is not a child anymore."
The duo entered the room and sat on the bed as Aurelion continued,
"It is our failure as parents that we could not guide her to the proper path."
"She turned this way after that incident eighteen years ago," Lunaria murmured, her voice heavy with sadness. "If Taranis had still been alive, our daughter might not have turned out this way."
"When she returned from the Abandoned Lands after forming the Seed of Divinity, I thought she would change her decision to marry Ignis. Yet she remained firm...as if her life was attached to this wretched marriage."
The duo sighed in distress as they lay on the bed. Aurelion removed the storage ring from his finger, and as he placed it on the bedside table, he noticed a letter placed there.
His eyes narrowed as he grabbed the letter.
"What is it, dear?" Lunaria asked, seeing Aurelion rise to a sitting position.
"Someone placed this letter here," Aurelion said as he opened the paper.
Father. Mother. When you read this letter, I will be gone from this world. Forgive me for the behaviour I showed you during the past eighteen years. I hope you will not miss me too much hehe.
Take care of both of you.
I love you.
Yours, Nymeria.
Aurelionโs hands trembled as he read the letter.
"Is this some kind of joke?" he muttered as he instantly rose to his feet, his whole body shaking.
"She must be playing a prank on us," Lunaria murmured, equally shaken. "I will make sure she never pulls such a stunt again."
The duo was about to leave their room, but their bodies halted mid-step as a terrifyingly suppressive Soulforce pressure erupted. The glass window of the room shattered, the utensils began falling from the table at the corner, the furniture creaked, and even the walls trembled.
The very foundation of the castle was shaking.
In the next moment, the night turned bright white as lightning erupted in the clouds with a thunderous boom.
"Th-this Soulforce pressure..." Aurelion murmured, his eyes widening in absolute shock. "It-it belongs to..."
---
The five Sect Leaders, Aurelion, Lunaria, Doran, Jambavan, Ume, Vyaghra, and all the other guests who were staying in the castle moved outside as they felt the tremendous, violent Soulforce pressure that was shaking the whole Heavenโs Sovereign Peak.
The starry sky was completely engulfed by destructive black clouds in which unrestrained golden lightning roared with deafening thunder.
A heavy rainfall, unlike anything ever witnessed in the Hundred Sky Mountains, began to pour upon the peak.
The window of one of the rooms of the castle, Nymeriaโs room, cracked open and from within, a figure emerged.
It was Lucifer. His face carried an unreadable expression, and red lightning danced around his entire body.
In his arms, he carried Nymeria in a princess carry, who seemed to be unconscious.
As he took a step forward from the high window of the castle, a spiderweb crack of lightning materialised beneath his foot.
With another step, the crimson lightning turned blue and the clouds roared in the sky.
His movement was slow, increasing the Soulforce pressure with every step. As he walked down, the blue lightning around his body and the spiderweb path of lightning beneath his feet changed colour again, turning bright golden, followed by another thunderous roar in the sky.
A layer of skin began burning from his face, revealing a different facial structure underneath. His red hair turned dark black and dual golden pupils appeared in his eyes.
The Sect Masters witnessing this spectacle felt shaken to their souls. His Soulforce signature was enough to reveal the identity of this man.
He was not Lucifer Morningstar. He was the God of Lightning and Thunder, prince of the Hundred Sky Mountains and true heir to the Heavenโs Sovereign Throne,
Taranis El Thunderbane.
As he walked further downward, instinctively all the Sect Masters slowly dropped to their knees, including Aethon and Titan.
No order was given and no words were exchanged. It was the will of the heavens and absolute reverence for this person that pushed them to their knees without them even being aware of it.
The only people who were still standing were Nymeriaโs family and the three Ancient Gods.
Their eyes were not focused on him but on Nymeria, whom he carried in his arms. Her arms were hanging freely, the rain was washing the blood from her face, and there was not an ounce of Soulforce coming from her.
It was as if she was... dead.
Once Taranis reached the ground, his legs buckled and he fell to his knees.
With shaken steps and horror covering their very beings, Aurelion, Lunaria, and Doran slowly moved towards him.
The Snowbane family bent before him. With shivering hands, Aurelion moved his hand toward Nymeriaโs wrist but could not hold it as the fear of what awaited him if he touched her shackled him.
"H-how could this happen?" Aurelion murmured.
Till now, he had only allowed tears to leave his eyes once. It was when he heard the news about the death of his closest friends and comrades, Voltrex and Stormir.
Now the tears once again surged from his eyes as he witnessed the lifeless body of his daughter before him.
Taranis, who had been carrying an unreadable expression on his face, slowly had the sclera of his eyes turn bloodshot.
Every vein in his body bulged, crimson tears surged from his eyes as he screamed in a terrifying, gluttural voice,
"I WILL RIP EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM TO SHREDS!!!!!!!!!!"
