Return to the City: The Strongest King-Chapter 1881 - 1791: Overnight Interrogation
Capítulo 1881: Chapter 1791: Overnight Interrogation
Director Zhao tentatively poked his head out to ask a question, then quietly turned around to glare at Qiao Yutong.
Song Xiaodong was sitting on the ground with his eyes closed, resting. When he heard someone calling him, he opened his eyes and saw Qiao Yutong’s superior, Director Zhao.
The two of them had met before.
“Hey, Director Zhao, long time no see.” Song Xiaodong greeted Director Zhao warmly, as if two old friends were greeting each other, not a director and a criminal.
“Mr. Song, there must be some misunderstanding. I’ll investigate when I get back and send Mr. Song out immediately,” Director Zhao said to Song Xiaodong.
“Director Zhao, today’s matter is being handled by this officer. I believe she can manage it well. No need to panic, just follow procedures,” Song Xiaodong instructed Director Zhao like a superior leader.
Zhu Wenhua, Qin Huai, Zhang Gangyi, Zhang Wu, and Jin Daya all stood there with their mouths wide open, watching.
“Alright, alright. Mr. Song, rest assured, our department will provide an explanation to you.”
“Zhou Mei? Come out! You can leave.” Qiao Yutong, seeing Director Zhao and Song Xiaodong talking, got even angrier and shouted to Zhou Mei, interrupting their conversation.
“Take care, Mr. Song.” Zhou Mei formally bowed to Song Xiaodong.
“Hey, officer, this person is a gang leader, arrest her! She’s an accomplice with Song Xiaodong!” Zhu Wenhua shouted angrily as he saw Zhou Mei about to leave, rushing to the iron bars, yelling at Director Zhao and Qiao Yutong.
“Shut up! Quiet!” Director Zhao roared at Zhu Wenhua, scaring him back a step.
Song Xiaodong tilted his head and shook it at Zhu Wenhua.
Zhou Mei walked out of the iron door, deliberately pausing in front of Qiao Yutong, staring into each other’s eyes.
“Deputy Director Qiao, I told you, I can go out tonight and even have dinner at home.” Zhou Mei calmly finished speaking, leaving with Director Zhao.
Qiao Yutong stared at Song Xiaodong as if about to say something but remained silent, while Song Xiaodong had already closed his eyes to continue resting.
“Officer sis, he’s the mastermind behind this, you must convict him!” Zhu Wenhua grabbed the iron bars with one hand, pointing at the silent and unresponsive Song Xiaodong with the other.
Qiao Yutong seemed not to hear and just turned around and walked away.
Members of Zhang Wu and Jin Daya burst into laughter.
Originally, both had brought people to help out Qin Huai Zhu Wenhua and Zhang Gangyi, but when they saw it was Mr. Song opposite them, they immediately turned on Qin Huai like Sister Zhou.
Qiao Yutong walked back to her office, feeling lost and spiritless.
People at the police station saw Qiao Yutong like this and started gossiping. Everyone saw Qiao Yutong bringing Song Xiaodong back and recognized him as the one who contributed to solving the Zhou Tiannan case.
They had planned to go on a date, and the next day, Qiao Yutong came to work with a kiss mark on her chin. But within a few days, Qiao Yutong brought him back to the police station.
Everyone was utterly confused about this.
After resting for a while, Qiao Yutong didn’t bother with dinner and began sorting out the statements recorded during the day.
The situation had become quite clear: Song Xiaodong started a fight with the director, with Jin Daya and Zhang Wu helping the director. Qin Huai and Zhu Wenhua came to fight Song Xiaodong, getting beaten black and blue by Song Xiaodong’s men. Zhu Wenhua called Officer Sun, while Sister Zhou called Officer Wu.
She received a report from a female staff member in Zhang Gangyi’s director crew about a brawl at Jinhui Film and Television City.
When Qiao Yutong first met Song Xiaodong, she conducted an investigation, knowing that Jinhui Film and Television City was Song Xiaodong’s property. If a fight occurred there, it must be connected to Song Xiaodong, so she went there and caught Song Xiaodong red-handed.
The problem was, Jin Daya and Zhang Wu stubbornly refused to testify against Song Xiaodong, and Zhou Mei had been released.
Qiao Yutong’s eyebrows were furrowed tightly, almost cramping. With one hand supporting her chin and the other repeatedly reading through the materials, her head felt dizzy, and her limbs were weak.
There was only one way out now, and that was to interrogate Song Xiaodong.
“Song Xiaodong?”
Another person came for interrogation.
Song Xiaodong sat in the interrogation room, his gaze like a poisonous snake in the dark, staring at the glass wall opposite.
The glass wall of the interrogation room was one-way transparent; those outside could see inside, but Song Xiaodong couldn’t see what was happening outside.
Outside the glass wall was Qiao Yutong.
Qiao Yutong was watching Song Xiaodong, and it seemed as though Song Xiaodong was also looking at her.
Song Xiaodong could sense every move of Qiao Yutong.
Despite the layer of glass that Song Xiaodong couldn’t see through, Qiao Yutong still didn’t dare to look directly into Song Xiaodong’s eyes.
Qiao Yutong avoided Song Xiaodong’s eyes, steadied herself, picked up the materials, and pushed the door open to enter.
“Bang!” Qiao Yutong threw the materials in her hand onto the table in front of Song Xiaodong with a loud noise.
“Screech…” Qiao Yutong pulled back the chair opposite Song Xiaodong harshly, its legs scraping against the tiled floor with an ear-piercing sound.
“Clang!” Qiao Yutong sat down.
Song Xiaodong patiently watched Qiao Yutong’s performance.
“Jin Haiyang and Zhang Hongzhi have confessed. They were called by Qin Huai, Zhu Wenhua to fight with your people.” Qiao Yutong’s tone remained cold.
Jin Daya and Zhang Hongzhi, as long as they’re not as reckless as Zhu Wenhua, would never testify against Song Xiaodong, Song Xiaodong knew clearly.
So, Qiao Yutong must have investigated from other angles.
“This deputy director certainly doesn’t just sit around doing nothing.” Song Xiaodong couldn’t help but admire Qiao Yutong.
“My people? What do you mean my people? Those are Jinhui Film and Television City staff. Although I’m a shareholder, I don’t manage them. Their brawl has nothing to do with me,” Song Xiaodong said, his tone equally unpleasant.
