Return With the Billionaire Baby Daddy-Chapter 100: wants Damian’s attention
"I don’t want to know, I’m asking you to be there not to spy but to destroy their relationship!" exclaimed Karina speaking to Tristan over the phone.
"Alright, I’ll try," Tristan replied.
"Don’t meet me until you’ve made progress on your efforts!"
"Okay... You will see..."
Karina immediately hung up the phone and glanced at Anna standing near the door.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" she asked sharply.
"Um, it’s nothing." Anna quickly shook her head with a frightened look.
"Remember, keep up the secret. If anyone else finds out about my lies, the first person who will deal with me is you! I can ruin that innocent face of yours!" Karina exclaimed firmly, then stood up and walked towards her room but stopped in her tracks upon hearing the doorbell ring. She looked towards the front door, furrowing her brow. "Who could that be? I thought Mom and Dad had already returned to Washington DC?"
"Let me open the door," said Anna, quickly walking towards the door.
Karina walked slowly to the sofa, looking towards the door until her eyes fell on Damian, who came carrying a suitcase and a black bag.
"Oh my..." She was so surprised, widening her eyes. ’Why is he coming with a suitcase? Does that mean he’s going to stay here?’ she wondered to herself, continuing to stare at Damian as he approached her.
"Hey," greeted Damian.
"Uh... hey." Karina immediately smiled awkwardly.
"You look fresher... Your condition can change in an instant."
"Um..." Karina became nervous and slightly lowered her gaze. "Actually, I’m still weak but I didn’t want to look so pale, so I put on makeup."
"Ohh... So that’s because of makeup." Damian nodded and glanced at Anna walking to another room.
"I didn’t expect you to come... I thought you still wanted to be alone or busy with your work," Karina said, changing the subject.
"My father handled the company matters today," Damian replied as he placed his black bag on the sofa, then sat down and took off his gray jacket. "I decided to stay here until you undergo the heart transplant," he continued.
"Really?" Karina immediately sat next to Damian.
Damian just nodded.
"But why?"
"Because I want to accompany you. I don’t want what happened before to happen again," Damian explained then sneered. "I just... I just want to do what’s best for you because your parents prioritize work over you even though they know your condition is very worrying," he added with a tone of sarcasm.
Karina immediately averted her gaze ’So, he feels sorry for me because of my parents’ attitude? It seems like I can use this to make him sympathize with me even more.’
"I don’t understand why they don’t hire someone they can trust to handle the company so they can have time to relax or have quality time with the family?" Damian asked incredulously, shaking his head. "I don’t mean to insult your parents, but their attitude is really bad. What they did today made me lose respect for them!"
Karina sighed as if to indicate that her breath wasn’t okay due to her illness.
"They’ve been like that since a long time ago, always prioritizing work and it’s hard to entrust the company to someone else because they’ve experienced a huge loss due to corruption from one of the trusted employees," she said with a worried look.
"Such a thing wouldn’t happen again if they conducted selection and imposed sanctions," Damian replied curtly.
"I don’t know, but maybe they do it because they don’t want to become poor and my siblings and I would be in trouble."
"Alright..."
"So, what made you stay here is them?" Karina asked.
"Yeah..." Damian nodded. "That surprised me..."
"You can refuse their request if it makes you uncomfortable... I know you’re still trying to get back to Valerie... I mean, I don’t want you to fail to get her back again if she knows that you’re staying with me... If you succeed in meeting her again," Karina said cautiously, almost slipping up because she just remembered that Damian admitted not knowing Valerie’s whereabouts.
"It’s fine... I’ll stay here, and don’t worry about Valerie..." Damian looked around. "But I need a room for myself because I usually do my tasks at night... I need a quiet place."
"Sure..." Karina nodded and immediately stood up. "I’ll clean up that room..."
"No..." Damian stood up and reached for her hand.
Karina fell silent and looked at her hand in Damian’s grasp.
"You’re sick, you need to rest, and maybe the room hasn’t been occupied for a long time will have dust, You shouldn’t have to deal with dust because it could worsen your condition," Damian said, quickly letting go of Karina’s hand. "Just show me where the room is," he continued, moving away from the sofa.
Karina immediately showed him the room, and then asked Anna to clean it, while Damian also helped.
...
With Hannah, Daniel returned home and immediately hugged his mother and cried.
"Hey... What happened?" Valerie asked, releasing Daniel from the hug, and looking at him with concern.
"I want to go to the playground with Dad!" Daniel replied amidst his tears.
"But why suddenly?"
"It seems he’s jealous of his friend," Hannah said, putting her bag on the sofa and then taking water from the bottle. "During break time, he and his friends were talking. After that, he became moody and didn’t want to eat anything," she continued, then drank.
Valerie sighed, feeling sorry for Daniel.
"Jacob said that his father took him to the zoo, and also took him to the park... He played shooting games in a cool place... He said he felt like a soldier in battle!" Daniel said amidst his tears. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
"So you want to go to the zoo?" Valerie asked.
Daniel just nodded.
"We’ll go to the zoo on the weekend, we can go there with Hannah and Uncle Jerry..."
"No!" Daniel immediately shook his head. "I want to go there with Dada!"
"But your dad is busy. We can’t keep asking him to always be with us. He has things to do."
"I don’t care. I just want to be with Dada!" Daniel exclaimed, pushing his mother and immediately running to the living room.
Valerie fell silent with concern and a sad look. ’If Damian and I were already married and had the freedom to be together, maybe Daniel would never feel jealous of his friend,’ she thought to herself.
"Just tell Damian, I’m sure he can accommodate Daniel’s wishes," said Hannah as she stood up and took Daniel’s bag.
"I’m not sure," replied Valerie, walking towards the living room and seeing Daniel sitting neatly but pouting, even immediately turning his face away. She immediately sat next to him and stroked his slightly damp hair due to sweat.
"I will try to ask your dad to spare time to accompany you to play and to the zoo," she said. "But now listen to me..."
Daniel just remained silent, still pouting.
"When your friend talks about the joy they experienced with their family or anyone else, you can also feel happy ... Instead of feeling sad and wanting to do what they do because everyone has different situations," Valerie said calmly. "We can’t always have the same things as others do ... We may have desires but God has reality ... And you shouldn’t need to cry ... Crying won’t solve your problems, crying won’t get you what you want ... You are a boy, one day you will become a grown man ... You have to learn to be independent, to think ... To achieve everything with effort and understand a process ..."
"They not only talk about the fun of vacations with their dad ... but they also ask me ... They ask if my dad ever took me on vacation, read bedtime stories to me ... Then ... There’s another friend who has a keychain. It’s a photo of him with his dad and mom," Daniel explained hesitantly, as if not yet adept at putting sentences together. "Then ... Lily has a small wallet ... There’s also a photo of her with her parents in there. So ... Another friend promised to show such photos tomorrow ... I also want to but .... but I don’t have any," he continued, his eyes getting teary.
"You do have, we just haven’t printed them yet!" replied Valerie, quickly taking her phone from her shorts pocket and showing photos from their trip to Korea. "You can show your friend that you’ve had fantastic vacations with your mom and dad ... You shouldn’t be sad. You have something to be proud of!" she continued enthusiastically.
Daniel looked at the photos, still looking gloomy. "But my dad never read bedtime stories to me."
Valerie sighed, feeling frustrated, understanding that Daniel’s desire is to have a complete family, living together like most people do.
