Chapter 103: their annoyance

"Valerie," Tristan greeted as he got off his motorcycle, then approached Valerie with a serious look.

Valerie wiped away her tears and turned her face away.

"Why are you crying? What happened?" Tristan wondered.

"Nothing..." Valerie shook her head, then entered the living room, ignoring Tristan as he followed her until she sat on the couch. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂

Tristan sat on another couch, observing Valerie, who seemed gloomy despite usually greeting him sweetly.

"You have to tell me... Maybe I can help you... Help you get out of your troubles," he said awkwardly.

"I’m fine... I’m just touched by my friend," replied Valerie, trying to smile. "After so long, we finally met again. But she’s leaving again... So, I’m sad," she continued, lying.

"Alright..." Tristan sighed.

Valerie switched to her phone in her shorts pocket and sent a message to Damian.

__Clara is here... She apologized... I tried to forgive her... But for some reason, I feel sad, I just don’t feel like doing anything, and I can’t concentrate__.

She sent the message, her tears uncontrollable again, but she quickly wiped them away.

"You Okay?" Tristan asked.

"Yes... It’s okay," Valerie nodded.

"I think you have a problem with your friend," Tristan said, leaning against the sofa.

"Should I say it?" Valerie asked.

"Just say it, I can keep a secret."

Valerie hesitated, still unsure whether to tell him about the past.

"But if it’ll make you sad, I won’t force you," Tristan added.

"I’m already sad, so go ahead," Valerie replied, leaning her back against the sofa while her hand still held her phone. "So, I was almost married to Damian, Daniel’s father. But after the bachelor party, I saw him sleeping in a room with my friend... They are naked... I was very angry at that time and decided to leave with the help of his friend, Samuel. Then when I arrived in Arizona, I realized that I was pregnant. I felt frustrated, and the circumstances and trauma made me not have the courage to come back until I gave birth and Daniel was over a year old... I met Damian again in Las Vegas when I attended Jerry’s wedding, he also helped me hide. Then after that, I saw the news about my sister and her husband’s accident... Finally, I decided to come back here and tell Damian about Daniel... Turns out, he tried to come back to me... I can’t deny that I really need him and still love him, so I decided to go back to him. But everything went chaotic again because my friend was seen being intimate with him again... I’m angry... I thought he never changed." Valerie sighed.

"And last night, Damian took me to an apartment, and it turned out to be Samuel’s apartment... Everything was revealed there. My friend confessed that Samuel told her to seduce Damian... The point is, our chaos started from them," Valerie said with restlessness, then massaged her temples. "I just keep feeling stupid, wrong, weak... I spent two years in their game... Me, Damian, Daniel, our family... we all struggled because of them. I tried to forgive them, but it’s so hard to forget the regrets about the two years wasted with suffering," she continued, crying again, remembering Daniel.

Tristan fell silent, furrowing his brow. ’She’s going through so much, how could Karina want to ruin her happiness? She’s suffered too much... And if she succeeds in taking Damian away from her, then Daniel will suffer too,’ he thought anxiously.

Valerie wiped her tears and smiled weakly. "Sorry..."

"It’s Okay... It’s okay to cry because it sounds so painful. They’re insane, not worthy of being called friends," Tristan said sympathetically to Valerie. "But I salute you for still willing to embrace her... If I were you, I might punch her ugly face and push her into a ditch!" He ended by clenching his jaw as if emotional.

Valerie laughed.

"I guess I can’t do that, I’m not that strong."

"If I had known all along that she was hurting you, I would have immediately helped you make her regret it!" Tristan clenched his fists but his tone sounded comforting. ’’I think Damian should do that if he truly feels aggrieved... But if he doesn’t do that, it means he’s somewhat scum too... He’s weak or maybe he’s slightly attracted to her so he’s swayed by her charms!’’

"I don’t know..." Valerie shook her head.

"He’s capable of hitting me even though I didn’t hurt you... But why doesn’t he dare to punish the woman who hurt you? That sounds weird... If he weren’t Daniel’s father, then you deserve a better man than him. But now you seem to have an obligation to accept him for Daniel’s sake, but you have to make sure he can stand firm against anyone who hurts you," Tristan said firmly. ’Or maybe Damian is just a scumbag because he’s showing care to Karina even though Valerie needs him. He’s a real scumbag... he must also take advantage of Karina’s affection for him. He wants Karina and also Valerie!’ he thought to himself, filled with envy.

Valerie’s attention was drawn to her phone ringing, then she saw an incoming call from Damian. She immediately answered it.

"Damian?"

"What happened? What did she say to you that made you sad?" Damian sounded worried.

"It’s Okay... She just apologized and promised to do better. I’m sad because I feel regretful again about what happened," Valerie replied wearily.

"I understand. Do you want me to come over?"

"No... It’s not necessary... You should focus on work," Valerie said, occasionally glancing at Tristan who was watching her.

"Eghmmm." Tristan cleared his throat quite loudly, then coughed as if it were intentional.

"Who is that?" Damian asked. "Is Jerry still there? Didn’t he take Daniel to daycare?"

"Um..." Valerie swallowed her saliva, feeling nervous. "That’s... That’s Tristan."

"Damn!" Damian sounded immediately annoyed. "Why did that bastard come? How long has he been with you?"

"Damian..." Valerie closed her eyes for a moment. "He’s my friend and neighbor, so it’s normal for him to be here just to talk!"

"I can’t believe it, I’ll come over!"

"Damian!" Valerie exclaimed in frustration. "Don’t be crazy, you..."

Suddenly the phone call was cut off, leaving her startled and looking at her phone.

"Holy shit!" she cursed in annoyance.

"What happened?" Tristan asked.

"He’s coming over here!" Valerie said angrily, quickly standing up. "You better leave before he comes and beats you!"

"Really?"

"Yes, I’m sure he’ll beat you... He often loses control!" Valerie exclaimed, pulling Tristan to stand up.

"Oh girl, I just wanted to talk to you..."

"I know, but maybe some other time." Valerie pushed Tristan out onto the terrace.

Tristan chuckled, seeing Valerie so upset and pouting.

"You know he’s annoying, but you still love him. You should prepare yourself before he comes," he said.

"I’ll lock the door!" Valerie replied, quickly entering the house again.

"I’m sure you will lock the door when he enters your house... like you did yesterday morning," Tristan laughed, immediately walking towards his motorbike.

Valerie was here immediately stunned, remembering how she had made love with Damian yesterday morning without caring that Tristan kept closing the door from outside.

"Could he possibly know what we did?"

...

Damian hurriedly put on his blue suit, neatly combed his hair, and put on his shoes. He grabbed his car keys along with his phone and wallet from the nightstand and tucked them into his pants as he walked out of the room.

"Damian," Karina greeted, who turned out to be standing outside his room.

"Hey," Damian replied with his flat stare. "I have to go to the office now," he continued, walking towards the main door.

"But don’t you want breakfast? I just made shrimp fried rice," Karina followed Damian.

"Sorry, I don’t have time."

"But, Damian. It’s very delicious, a new recipe from Indonesia. You’ll surely love it..."

Damian stopped near the door and turned to look at Karina, who appeared anxious.

"Sorry... Maybe you can save it and I’ll eat it for lunch," he said patiently. "I have to go now... I’ve been neglecting office matters since yesterday, so now I have to go... I don’t want my employees to think that I’m neglecting them," he continued with a pleading look.

"Okay...." Karina nodded with her resolute gaze.

"Okay... I have to go..."

Damian quickly left, leaving Karina in disappointment.

"Damn, why does he seem not to care about me? What are his actual feelings towards me?" Karina clenched her fists, watching Damian slowly walk away from her gaze.

"He doesn’t like you..."

The girl’s voice made her immediately turn and see Anna standing near the table. She approached her and swung her hand towards her but Anna quickly held her back by catching her hand.

"I’m just stating the truth without violating your rules... So you can’t punish me with a slap," Anna said with her fiery eyes.

Karina glared instantly. "How dare you?"

"Why shouldn’t I dare?" Anna asked, pushing Karina’s hand away so she moved back slightly and immediately held her wrist as if in pain. "I realize I shouldn’t be afraid of you because I hold your big secret. And if that secret is exposed not because of my fault, I won’t be afraid anymore. Maybe you’ll get punished before you get a chance to do something to me..."

Karina fell silent in surprise, not expecting Anna to be bold towards her.

"What you’re doing is futile, he will never be yours... But don’t worry because I’ll keep playing your game until you’re tired, but never underestimate my presence here... I’m part of your drama!" Anna reaffirmed before quickly leaving for another room.

Karina gasped for breath due to emotions. ’I can’t let this continue. If pretending to be sick is no longer effective in getting Damian, then there’s one way to make him unable to turn away from me... I have to trap him!’
