Return With the Billionaire Baby Daddy-Chapter 132: Husband’s drama
At 11 p.m. Arizona time.
Hannah woke up as she realized someone entered the room. The woman sat up and turned on the bedside lamp, dimly illuminating the room enough to see Samuel take off his black tie and jacket, placing them on the sofa.
"Are you working overtime again?" she asked.
"Hmm... My boss is such a jerk!" Samuel replied irritably, sitting on the couch and removing his shoes. "You’ll be surprised to hear what he did to me," he continued.
"What’s that?"
"He... Made me the scapegoat for the office’s problems," Samuel explained, leaning his back against the sofa. "The company suffered significant losses, and my boss blamed me and some other employees for it, withholding my salary for this month and the next few months," he continued, frustrated.
Hannah was stunned, feeling sad and glancing at her slightly bulging belly.
"This is really bad for us," Samuel said. "We really need money to save up for your birth expenses, and you need treatments for the baby’s well-being, but... But I can’t give you much money. I can only provide enough for food and transportation; the rest, I can’t," he said, looking guilty.
"Don’t worry about it..."
"Of course, I’m worried..." Samuel stood up and approached Hannah.
Hannah remained silent, genuinely worried because there would be no income if not from Samuel, as she couldn’t work and indeed couldn’t work. There was only one way to get money: by contacting Valeri or Damian because they hadn’t given her money since she left them.
"But don’t worry..." Samuel sat next to Hannah and gently held her hand, smiling warmly at her. "I will try to find a side job so we can have extra money."
"And then you’ll lack rest time," Hannah looked at Samuel anxiously.
"I know, but... I’ll try to manage my time. Maybe I’ll work on weekends... In places with less formal rules, maybe at a store..." Samuel shrugged. "I’ll do whatever it takes so we can have money for you to buy vitamins and baby supplies."
"And that means we won’t have much time together... We’re canceling our date nights every Sunday," Hannah whispered.
Samuel smiled thinly, looking at Hannah’s naturally beautiful form in her gray pajamas with slightly messy hair.
"Let’s say I work on Saturdays and Sundays... If work starts at 9 a.m. until 8 p.m., we can go on dates after that," he said, then hugged Hannah from the side. "I will always try to make you happy," he continued.
Hannah smiled, looking up at Samuel, who immediately kissed her lips.
"You are my angel," Samuel whispered, then hugged Hannah. ’But actually, you are the stupidest girl in this world. I am lucky to have you, at least this is better than being in prison,’ he thought.
"But..." Hannah released herself from Samuel’s embrace and looked at him. "Actually, I have the right to ask for money again from Damian and Valerie."
"No!"
Samuel immediately shook his head, furrowing his brows.
Hannah fell silent, somewhat surprised.
"You don’t need to ask them; it will only make them suspicious why you need money... Or maybe they’ll want to know about you being here," Samuel said anxiously. "Honestly... I’m worried they’ll find out you’re pregnant and that I married you. I’m afraid they’ll be angry when they find out I’m free because of you. It could make them angry," he continued.
Hannah fell silent, somewhat confused.
"I don’t want to be someone who lacks gratitude," Samuel stood up. "They’ve given you a lot of money, and then you use it to set me free even though I’ve been very bad to them. It’s like an illegal act... If it wasn’t for wanting to be with you and always be there for you, I’d rather stay in jail than use their money for my freedom."
"You’re right... I’ve betrayed their trust by setting you free. But as long as it doesn’t put them in difficulty and you don’t bother them again, I don’t think it’s a problem," Hannah replied anxiously.
Samuel fell silent, hands on his hips, facing Hannah, staring at her seriously as if thinking about something.
"But don’t worry, I won’t ask them," Hannah said, getting up from the bed. "I’ll prepare warm water for you... You must want to take a bath," she continued, then walked towards the bathroom.
Samuel remained silent, letting Hannah go. He then took his phone out of his pants pocket and called someone.
...
In the hospital, Valerie felt very tired and sore in her back but had no place to rest because there was no large sofa available in the recovery room suitable for lying down. She continued to sit on the chair, occasionally glancing at her husband who was asleep again after receiving medication.
"Ma’am..."
Valerie glanced at the open door and found Hans entering the room carrying a rolled-up folding mattress wrapped in cloth. She smiled faintly and stood up, looking at the man in surprise.
"What are you doing? You don’t need to do this. Who told you to bring a mattress here?" She wondered.
"No one told me, but when I escorted Daniel to rest in his room, I saw this mattress there. So I decided to bring it here," Hans replied, smiling shyly. "I thought you might need it," he continued.
"You know I really need it..."
"Um, I also brought a blanket and a pillow, wait a moment!"
Hans hurried out while Valerie immediately took the folding mattress out of the silver-colored fabric packaging, then placed it in a more spacious area and let it unfold until it formed a small mattress suitable for one person.
"Uhkk..."
Suddenly she heard a cough from Damian, making her approach him anxiously.
"Darling..."
"Oh my God..." Damian groaned, his hand touching his stomach still covered by a large, thick bandage. "It’s so hurts... I accidentally coughed because my throat is so dry."
"Wait, wait!"
Quickly Valerie grabbed a bottle of water where a straw was available inside it and handed it to Damian’s mouth.
"You can drink now," she said.
Damian took the straw with his mouth and immediately drank little by little, but his tongue tasted very bitter so he stopped drinking.
"It’s not good..."
"But you need to drink."
"Yes, but I don’t like that drink... Maybe wine or something else would taste better," Damian said frustratedly.
Valerie sighed, sitting on the chair after putting the bottle of drink on the table and glaring at Damian.
"I think I need coffee or hot tea, then beef soup... It would refresh my throat, and maybe my stomach would feel better," Damian said, looking at the ceiling.
"You just woke up and now you’re craving foods that aren’t available at this hour," Valerie replied with a puzzled look. "You just underwent major surgery... You shouldn’t eat or drink randomly, especially alcohol, coffee, or soda... You’re really weird," she continued.
Damian fell silent, glancing at Valerie.
"But okay, I’ll talk to the doctor... Maybe he can answer if you can eat whatever you want except alcohol, coffee, or soda," Valerie said.
"No," Damian replied shortly.
"What?"
"I don’t want anything..." Damian turned his face away, looking visibly anxious. "I should be the one to indulge whatever you want... Like if you want food... But now it’s like the roles are reversed... I’m craving food so badly, and you’ll struggle to get it for me... But I won’t let that happen."
Valerie chuckled, not expecting Damian to be so upset about it.
"Don’t worry too much, I can ask the maid to make that food and bring it here," she said.
"No... I don’t want."
"I know you want..."
"I can still control my cravings. I’m not like a pregnant woman with cravings," Damian said grumpily.
"Sometimes when the wife is pregnant, it’s the husband who gets the cravings," Hans said as he entered the room carrying a large bag.
Damian glanced at Hans with a furrowed brow.
"It happened to my brother-in-law; he often craved things more than my sister," Hans explained with a smile.
Valerie looked at Damian while laughing, thinking that his recent desire was because of her cravings, as previously her husband never whined about food or drink.
"But that’s not a bad thing," Hans continued as he opened the large bag and took out a blanket and a pillow. "It’s a sign that your bond is very strong... There’s no doubt that you’re the father!"
Damian smiled thinly, always glancing at Valerie.
"What?" Valerie asked.
"I just feel proud," Damian replied, then reached out to stroke Valerie’s cheek. "Our baby has such a strong instinct with me... Even I can feel it. I’m so eager to see and hold it, to hug it..."
"You have to wait for a few months," Valerie replied with a sweet smile.
"And maybe I’ll be healed."
"Yeah... Definitely."
