Chapter 146: WAS IT REALLY WORTH IT??

"What did you do to her?" Damon asked one more time seething in anger.

Asis kept quiet for a while seeing the rage in Damon eyes, he wanted to reply but he just stared at Damon with no response.

"What’s wrong?" Amelia who heard the ruckus came in running, "Why is Adara laying on the ground like that?" She asked as she proceeded to kneel beside her.

"Adara what’s wrong?" Amelia asked patting her cheek lightly, Amelia went closer to the wound and noticed the blackening that was taking place inside.

"She has been poisoned." Amelia announced with her eyes constricted with shock, She then turned to see that Damon had completely lost control of his emotions as he was almost choking Asis to death, he was surrounded with a dark mist that looked scary, Amelia was annoyed at the fact instead of looking for a way to revive Adara he was busy getting all mad.

"Damon this is not the time for this!" Amelia exclaimed as she tried to lift Adara up to take her into the castle but Damon was too deep into his rage that he could hardly hear what Amelia was saying.

Damon wanted to kill Asis but no matter how great his killing intent was this was his flesh and blood in his hands, "Will you get your head together?!" Amelia yelled kicking Damon on his butt causing him to drop Asis, he didn’t say anything and just carried Adara in his arms disappearing.

Amelia wanted to follow after him but then remembered that Asis was still there, she turned back to look at him and saw that he was just standing there emotionless like he had seen the most frightful thing ever.

Amelia went forward and pulled him into a warm hug, "I know that you are shocked but you have to pull yourself together and tell your dad and I what happened, and also about your dad’s reaction please bear with him, I believe you are not at fault for what happened, so let’s go see your sister okay, we need to stay with her at his period." Amelia comforted him as she felt he was in a state of shock at the moment.

Asis was still trying to process what had happened, he and Adara were practicing all right when an arrow shot out from nowhere, the direction it came from only Adara could see it and even if he would be able to sense it, it would be too late, so without thinking twice, Adara pushed him out of the way and the arrow brushed her cheek, it would have been okay if only the arrow was not poisoned.

Asis wondered who was brave enough to look for trouble with the devil when they were not asking for death, with that thought he pushed himself out of Amelia arms and walked off not saying anything else.

Amelia watched Asis figure disappear into the woods and wanted to chase after him but decided against it then chanted a spell that would take her to whichever place Damon was.

"How is she?" Amelia asked immediately she got to where they were, it was Giselle that was checking Adara in the room, while Damon sat outside with a gloomy expression. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦

Amelia became even more worried when Damon ignored her question, no matter how angry he was at her before he always made sure to answer her, why was he being like this now? She wondered.

"Amelia you are here!" Giselle came outside sighing with relief, she did not want to break the news to Damon or he might destroy her tiny shed that she lived in.

"Yes I am, what wrong with Adara?" Amelia asked trying to remain as calm as possible, "You two brought her in a little late, the poison has gone all the way into her brain, she is alright but it’s a 70-30 chance, her body might be able to work with my magic and fight against it or the poison would overpower them both and cause her to be comatose forever." Giselle broke everything down but with each sentence she spoke the more Damon’s aura became colder and darker with his expression more gloom.

"So what you mean now is that she is in a coma?" Amelia asked to be sure, "Yes, the surprising fact it that the poison I found in her Is similar to the one in demons claws when they slash someone of something like that." Giselle responded as Amelia sighed while Damon stood up abruptly, seeing his expression Giselle gulped, "I will leave you two to it." She said before scurrying off not wanting to be caught in the middle of their battle or whatever.

"I told you we should not trust that boy Amelia, look what he has done to Adara, what if it was you Amelia?" Damon said with worry evident in his voice.

"But he is our son!" Amelia countered although she felt a little bit weird she still could not deny that fact.

"He has been with Silva way too long to accept him with open arms." Damon argued through his gritted teeth.

"Damon you need to cool down for a bit, it was because of this anger of yours that made us too late to bring Adara here on time causing her to slip into coma!" Amelia shot back at him, "If you had just brought here immediately you saw her all these won’t be happening at the moment." Amelia continued.

"No you are wrong, this would not be happening if that boy that you brought in did not attack her." Damon retorted, "Whether you like it or not Asis is staying with us and if you have a problem with that and decide to send him away then be ready to lose me as your mate cause I will leave along side with Asis and Adara and we would never come back again which means you would not see me or Adara ever again so watch yourself Damon and accept that boy." Amelia threatened and left bumping shoulders with him.

Atonishment was an understatement for Damon as he did not understand why Amelia would all of a sudden threaten him like that when he was only trying to protect them.

He sighed before entering into the room Adara laid.

His rough huge thumb caressed Adara’s forehead as he chuckled, "Funny how I was in the same situation with your mother months back." Damon said remembering Amelia’s time in pregnancy, how he had watch her belly grow, he remembered the times he had his hands over her belly and would feel the babies kick her baby softly and sometimes they were not so gentle with the kicking.

The scan of them both was somewhere hidden in his study, sometimes he had blamed himself for his son’s death, if he had been there and not left he thought that maybe Silva would not have been able to kill the child (Damon thought that it was Silva that killed Asis when he was little), but it turned out he was wrong, Silva had taken away his son from him.

It was not that Damon did not want to trust Asis he did, he really did but his biggest fear is if he later finds out that his son is working for his enemy or he was brought down be his own son.

Damon smiled again gently as he looked at Adara and then picked up her hands placing a light peck on it, "Am I doing the right thing?" He asked even though he knew he was not going to get a response.

But the more he thought about it the more he wanted to drop his suspicions against Asis, was something that was turning his mate against him really worth it? He wondered deeply.
