Revive Rome: Wait! Why not make the empress fall in love with me first?-Chapter 453 - 68 Army Camp Market
Chapter 453: Chapter 68 Army Camp Market
On the outskirts of the Emperor’s Alliance, merchants from Milan had spontaneously gathered, forming a sizable market.
This was what is known as the military market.
These markets were responsible on one hand for purchasing war spoils obtained by soldiers on the battlefield, such as scrap metal, circuit boards, drone wreckage, and even synthetic human’s limbs. Because the soldiers were completely ignorant of the technical value, the merchants could bulk purchase them at low prices.
On the other hand, naturally, they were there to trade various alcoholic beverages, entertainment, and trinkets for the soldiers’ military merit rewards.
Aske followed the three girls through the market, where merchants had set up countless small tents, with stalls and goods directly displayed at their entrances, simple and clear.
The girls browsed one stand, looked at another, shuttling back and forth among the stalls. Medea even found a beautiful silver bracelet, and after trying it on, her expression clearly showed she was rather fond of it.
"Want to buy it?" Aske asked when he saw she was reluctant to leave.
"No," Medea said simply, placing the bracelet back on the stall.
"I thought you liked it," Aske said.
"I do like it," Medea raised her eyebrows, "but guess why a market set up beside a military camp would sell these little trinkets women like?"
"I understand," Aske looked toward the largest tent in the market, where women thick with makeup were soliciting customers at its entrance.
The Brothel, those in the know were aware of what kind of place it was. The trinkets on the periphery were for soldiers to buy in order to curry favor with the women inside, no wonder Medea was disdainful.
"You want to go in and have a look?" Seeing Aske’s gaze fixed on that place, Medea’s eyes twirled, and she asked with a smile.
"Um," Aske did actually feel a bit curious to look inside. Not for doing anything in particular, just out of curiosity.
After all, in the original game world, to pass censorship, there was an "invisible wall" in front of the Brothel. Many players even tried various poses and positions beside the wall just to capture a glimpse of the indescribable scenes inside (if any) the moment the tent flap was lifted.
You could never imagine how bored gamers could get.
So, as an old gamer habit, Aske was curious about what was inside... However, Medea quickly pinched the flesh around his waist and twisted hard.
Aske turned his head with no expression. This kind of damage did not even count as an itch for his body now.
"Don’t think I don’t know what you’re up to!" Medea threatened him fiercely.
"Of course you know, can’t you read minds?" Aske frowned and said, "Then why did you pinch me?"
"Cough," Medea said, "I actually didn’t read your mind just now. I thought... you wanted to go in and have some fun."
"Since you didn’t read my mind, how do you know I didn’t want to go in and have some fun?" Aske countered.
Medea: ..........
"What conversation are you having?" Nora, who was walking ahead, suddenly turned back and asked.
"Aske said he wanted to check out the Brothel," Medea immediately stoked the fire. fɾēewebnσveℓ.com
"I don’t believe it," Nora said.
"Why don’t you believe it? He just said so himself," Medea continued to instigate.
"Because I just read his mind," Nora revealed a smile as though she had everything under control.
Medea: ..........
Wait, since when did I become less capable than Nora in mind reading?!
For the first time, she began to deeply question her own intelligence while Nora, with a triumphant smile, grabbed Aske’s arm.
"Look, there’s a stall selling flowers over there, Squad Leader! Let’s go check it out quickly!"
It’s well known that Nora was a girl who loved flowers, so when she saw a stall selling them, she immediately dragged Aske away.
A somewhat dazed Medea stood still when she heard Thira’s faint voice from behind:
"Aren’t you going to chase after them?"
Chase? Medea suddenly realized.
This is bad, I’ve been fooled! It was the power of Thought Implant!
"Let’s go!" she grabbed Thira’s arm and said urgently, "Quick, Light Body Skill!"

Aske and Nora arrived at the flower stall, only to see a blonde girl with perfect figure and long legs bending over to pick a bunch of white flowers.
"Eleanor?" Nora asked in surprise, "What are you doing here?"
Weren’t you supposed to be at the Weisbach family meeting?
"Nora?" Eleanor opened her mouth, glanced at Aske whom she had her arm around as if wanting to say something, but eventually just shook her head.
"It’s nothing. The family meeting has ended; I’m just taking a stroll." She handed the money to the stall owner and smiled awkwardly at Aske, "I won’t bother you two anymore."
Eleanor hurried off. Nora watched her departing figure and muttered to Aske:
"Something’s fishy."
"What fishy thing could there be that you wouldn’t know about?" Aske countered.
"Actually, I didn’t read her mind just now," Nora explained.
Then why do you always read my mind? Aske was completely speechless.
Nora flashed an "are the two even comparable" apologetic sort of smile, then pointed in the direction Eleanor had left: "Shall we follow her and see?"
"Okay," Aske had just agreed when another arm wrapped around his.
"What fun thing have you stumbled upon?" Medea asked as she leaned in with a beaming smile.
"We’re thinking about buying flowers," Nora’s gaze fell on the spot where she clung to Aske’s arm.
"Have you found any good flowers yet?" Medea’s face held a forced smile, her grip tightening.
"No, they were all unappealing withered flowers," Nora smiled, showing her teeth.
"Do you two want to have a fight?" Thira, holding a box of melons and munching on a slice pierced with a toothpick, suggested from the back.
The two girls were stunned for a moment, and Aske took the opportunity to withdraw his arms, skillfully changing the subject:
"I think Eleanor did seem a bit off just now; her expression was wrong."
"You met Eleanor just now?" Medea was indeed curious, her curiosity piqued, "What do you mean her expression was wrong? Has she got a boyfriend? And doesn’t want us to know?"
"No!" Nora thought to herself, what is she even talking about, "I just saw her buy flowers and leave; she seemed a bit sad."
"So, it’s a heartbreak?" Medea guessed, interest piqued, "Let’s hurry up and follow her!"
So, the group quickly set out again in search of Eleanor. Minutes later, they found her at the edge of the market.
To the north of the market was a small hill, now hastily adorned with many gravestones.
The Empire’s soldiers who had died in the recent war naturally couldn’t have their bodies returned to the Empire and were buried nearby on this hill. Those with gravestones and crosses were Knights, while many more were resting places of ordinary soldiers, marked by just a shallow mound.
Eleanor approached one of the gravestones, placed the bouquet on the ground in front of the grave, and gazed at the inscription for a long time without speaking.
"Come out," she suddenly said, looking to the side.
The group emerged sheepishly.
"How did you notice us?" Thira asked.
"Will," Eleanor replied succinctly. The high-rank ability from the Will Sequence allowed her to emit her will as a mist around her, serving as surveillance and reconnaissance.
"Ellie, this is..." Nora pointed to the grave with the bouquet, hesitating to continue.
"Do you remember Uncle John?" Eleanor spoke softly, "This is his grave."
Knight Captain John? Aske realized it was the Knight Captain stationed in Mingxing City—the one who had sparred with Sigrdrifa; he was said to have watched over Eleanor as she grew up.
Had he also fallen in the recent war?
The group had some memories of Knight Captain John, but they weren’t very deep. However, seeing Eleanor’s sorrowful expression, they all fell into a respectful silence.
