Rewriting My Fate in the Apocalypse-Chapter 57: Uncle Li’s Unique Superpower
Chapter 57: Chapter 57: Uncle Li’s Unique Superpower
Lu Zhen had expected many people to have such thoughts. If he didn’t know what was going on in advance, he would probably be among them. Unfortunately, such a beautiful dream doesn’t exist.
"Work harder and learn to control your ability sooner. There are no miracles in this world." He didn’t say everything bluntly, but Lu Tao was smart enough to understand his implications. fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com
"Okay, I’ll go and start to practice." Lu Tao said as he walked to the balcony and sat down.
He felt as if his head was about to explode from the noise, but he knew that this would be his reality until he learned how to filter what was important from the noise.
Lu Zhen after talking to his brother got up and left. He found his wife, sat next to her and took her hand quietly.
Leng Pan turned around and smiled at her husband then resumed discussing clothes designs with her mother-in-law.
She had realized that the real world she came from seemed to be a little ahead of this one and some designs were yet to be created. In that case, there was no problem in sharing them and making them her own. Not that it matters anyway. After all, who would care who came up with a design in the apocalypse?
As their discussion came to an end, Uncle Li called for everyone to head to the dining table for dinner.
No matter what was happening outside, the family tried as much to have a normal family meal.
When Leng Pan tasted the pork shoulder that had been cooked until the meat fell apart, she felt as if she was eating immortal food. She had never tasted such delicious pork shoulder before.
"Mmmm.... Uncle, how did you cook this pork? It tastes divine." She couldn’t help but comment.
Seeing how much Leng Pan was enjoying the dish, Lu Zhen also wanted to taste the food that made her so happy.
However, he was shocked when he put the pork shoulder in his mouth. Seeing him frozen with his chopsticks, everyone wondered what had happened to him.
Even Leng Pan who was engrossed in eating sensed something wrong and turned to look at her husband. Seeing him looking like he had seen a ghost, she asked what had happened.
His reply didn’t make sense at first as he just said, "It’s different."
The others didn’t understand what was different, but Leng Pan who had tasted the pork shoulder seemed to have understood something.
"Mom, go ahead and taste it, see if it tastes different from what uncle usually makes." She urged urgently.
Seeing her so eager, Li Yunjia picked up a piece of meat with her chopsticks and indeed couldn’t believe the taste.
"It is indeed different. Big brother usually cooks delicious food, but he has never cooked something so delicious before." She said as she moved her chopsticks for another piece.
When Uncle Li heard this, he was surprised because he used his usual recipe. He thought that they were just complementing him blindly and also took the serving chopsticks to pick up some pork shoulder meat too.
Once he tasted it, even he was shocked. "I am sure I used my normal recipe. How could the taste be so different?" He asked as he shoved more meat into his mouth.
The others followed suit and within a couple of minutes, the plate of pork shoulder meat had been cleared.
This situation was strange even for Leng Pan who had read the original book. How could food cooked using the same recipe taste so different?
She thought of a possibility and stretched her chopsticks to pick another dish. It was fried eggplant with potatoes. It was somewhat a weird combination but chefs like to create new flavors.
However, she could tell that the taste was enhanced. There was no way a simple dish of eggplants and potatoes would taste so good.
"Something is different indeed. Uncle, did you cook all these dishes yourself?" Leng Pan asked.
She wanted to compare first before voicing her suspicion.
"The beef sauce was made by your aunt." Uncle Li had also tasted the eggplant dish and it tasted different from the ones he made before.
Leng Pan then took a spoon to scoop some beef sauce and tasted it. Just as she thought, the taste was normal. Not to say that her aunt’s cooking wasn’t good, but the taste was within the acceptable range of deliciousness.
Therefore, the issue was with her uncle.
"It looks like Uncle is not as ordinary as he seems." Leng Pan commented after she had tasted a few other dishes.
"What do you mean niece-in-law?" Uncle Li asked when he heard her comment.
"Uncle should also have awakened a superpower. It’s just that, your superpower is related to cooking. I don’t know what to call it, but your food is more delicious than before." Leng Pan really didn’t know what type of superpower that was.
What kind of energy makes food more delicious when cooked?
"Well, at least I can cook you guys more delicious dishes." Uncle Li laughed without a burden.
He wasn’t discouraged by the fact that he had awakened a useless ability. If the food he makes for his family was more delicious, then he was happy.
Cooking was more like a hobby for him than a job. That’s why his restaurant only served a few tables per day. He enjoyed the process of cooking, not making money.
That was why when he heard that his superpower could help him make more delicious food, he didn’t mind its usefulness.
"Now, only your aunt and I don’t have superpowers." Li Yunjia said with a sour tone.
He wasn’t actually jealous, he was just making fun of her children and trying to lighten the atmosphere that had become somewhat heavy.
"Don’t worry Mom, you might discover later that you also have a superpower. Didn’t Uncle not know as well? What if you have a unique ability as well?" Lu Tao comforted his mother when he heard her lemon-flavoured tone.
