Re-Birth Of A Genius. Creator/Destroyer-Chapter 1760: Team Play
Donner managed to take out one target and severely injured another one before his energy was exhausted.
He has the bare minimum left in his spiritual core. He used that to defend against the remaining targets and decided to quit. He disappeared from the city.
"Player Donner has chosen to quit."
Osiris' voice was heard by every other player and the remaining targets. Sam didn't bother too much about it. He knew something like this is coming and when the remaining players heard this, they gritted their teeth and strengthened their resolve.
They wouldn't be able to do much, no matter what the result of this day mode, and since one of the players left, they won't be the first ones to give up anymore.
So, now everyone is getting thoughts of going all out with whatever energy they have left.
Particularly, the ones who expended more energy than anyone else.
Dayus is at the bottom of the list if the players are ranked right now in terms of energy levels they have. He has been harassed most by Sam and he had to spend more energy. In fact, many players thought that he would be the first one to give up.
But Donner beat him to it.
Dayus knew that he wouldn't be able to survive the night mode even if he miraculously went past the Day mode. After some contemplating, he suddenly had a thought. No matter what happens, he won't score well in this round of competition.
Sam stole too many of his targets since the start.
All of Sam's experiments that needed killing the targets were done in Dayus' region. So, he is at the bottom of the score list. There is no point in trying to remedy that situation.
He also believed that Sam would be the only active player in the Night mode, so he decided to take a lesson or two from Sam and went all out.
He spared his energy until he saw the location of the group of targets gathered together.
He threw a spear with all his energy. He even went as far as to use his Blood art. He is surrounded by blood-colored armor and held a blood spear that is covered with purple lightning completely.
One spear strike from him killed a target in an instant, but that only applied to the first target. The remaining targets took the chance to attack him from the sides.
Dayus' energy went crazy as the purple lightning attracted the attention of all the players. After some hesitation, except for Sam, the remaining players decided to go in that direction.
They were surprised by how Dayus is going crazy. He killed four targets before his energy is exhausted. He chose to quit.
Before he disappeared, he looked at the rest of the players and said.
"If you want to reduce Sam's final score, forget about preserving your energy and go all out. The more targets you kill with your ultimate moves, the more powerful the undead will be in the night mode. Sam wouldn't be able to deal with all of them.
Even if he has more energy to expend, he did spend a significant amount in the last few days.
Don't be idiots and think this through."
His words made the players rethink their strategy.
They are indeed a bit troubled about the fact that they wouldn't be able to survive past the day mode. And since points for each target and undead vary based on their level of difficulty, they are sure that Sam is going to score a significant chunk in the night mode.
They didn't want him to widen the gap that much.
All of them exchanged looks before they turned to look at the gathered targets. Apart from the three targets that Sam has marked, the rest of them are all here.
They are all looking at the players with vigilant gazes. After all, it is not easy for them to survive in the past few days. They might be strong, but they know that players are stronger. The restrictions of the players were also told to them, so they have a pretty good judgment on what players are truly capable of.
They are a bit scared that all of the players will gang up and attack them.
Sam looked at the situation through his puppets and smiled. He has some idea of what is about to happen next and he is looking forward to seeing it. Because it is one of his estimated scenarios, everything is still going on according to his plan.
Everything is still in his control.
Just like the targets thought, all the players reached a tacit agreement even without discussing it. They all made their move.
Targets gritted their teeth and even they went all out. They also knew that they are going to die. So, they are not going to hold back anymore. There is no point to it after all.
But the players didn't use the blood arts. They are just fighting together, which is good enough for them to overpower the targets easily.
Sam watched as the targets were being killed one by one. But he also noticed something else.
The three marked targets are looking at the players while hiding. They didn't participate in the battle, but from the looks of it, they are ready to jump into the battle at any moment. Sam can even predict exactly what kind of moment it would be.
But he also decided that he wouldn't give the three of them that chance.
So, he sent his puppets toward the battle.
When the players saw it, they became vigilant, but to their surprise, Sam didn't interfere in the battle too much. He didn't even kill a single target there. All he did is use the puppets to help the players. He only aimed at the limbs or the attacks that were coming at them.
He didn't even use any lethal moves. The puppets are barely supported. Nothing more than that.
This made their life easier and they preserved a lot of energy because of that. And in a way, Sam knew that is what everyone wanted.
They didn't exactly take Dayus' advice to heart. They thought about it, but they tacitly decided to take another route.
All they want to do is work together to preserve as much energy as they could while finishing off these targets.
After all, no matter who it is among the players, in their current situations, they wouldn't be able to take on all of the targets at once. So, the team plays made sense.
Now they will defeat these targets and when the night mode arrives, they will once again work together to take down as many undead as possible before they are done. This way, they will reduce a lot of chances of Sam getting a huge advantage in scores over them.
The plan actually makes sense. They will grow collectively, even if they have to share their points, but at least, Sam wouldn't be able to widen the gap too much.
But what they don't know is Sam is not exactly counting on the number of people he killed to increase the points. As he always did, he focused more on quality than quantity.
That is actually the only reason, why he let the players have so many kills. After all, if he wanted to, he has a dozen different types of puppets and formations that could have helped him deal with the city by the second day itself.
But he wouldn't be able to hide what he was doing from the players which would have prompted them to go all out, making his points less.
So, he had created a bit drawn-out strategy, to increase his chances of gaining more points in both quality and quantity. He had already done a lot on the quantity side, now he is focusing on quality more.
As the targets went down one after the other, the players are also feeling some physical fatigue. They need to take a breather. There are only three targets left in the group.
At that moment, the three hidden players seemed to have sensed the fatigue that players are facing and also sensed that they relaxed a bit, after all, there is no real threat there.
As if they are communicating, they made a move at the same time. At that exact moment, Sam also made his move.
He first alerted the players with his puppets making the surprise attack useless.
And then used his spatial element to appear on the battlefield within a second.
His arrival was duly noticed by everyone there. Before they could even realize what is happening, Sam made his move. His body is surrounded by a golden light. He activated his light elemental fusion. And then he turned to laser mode.
He zoomed toward the first target and went through him. Leaving a hole in that guy's chest and killing him at the same time.
