Rise of The Demon General-Chapter 267. Dealing with the Remaining Seniors
Chapter 267: Chapter 267. Dealing with the Remaining Seniors
Amon didn’t run out of the room after breaking into the house like the seniors thought. He broke the door to create the illusion he had rushed out of the room. Instead, he went and hid inside one of the closets in the room. In their haste to not lose Amon, the seniors had instead gone past him without realizing it.
Amon remained hiding until he heard the hum. It was the same hum when Amon first laid eyes on the Pledge Demon. That’s how he knew his ploy to pit two opponents had worked. He came out and went to the broken door to peek.
He watched how the Pledge Demon quickly eliminated the two seniors on the ground floor. When the Pledge Demon went for the seniors on the second floor, Amon bolted. He didn’t want to risk it.
The high-pitched cry of the Pledge Demon also affected Amon even when he was far away. He felt his body become numb.
’Mental attack...,’ Amon thought.
His body became numb because his mind lost a degree of control over his body. That’s how the Pledge Demon paralyzed the seniors, making them easy prey to slaughter. When Xin Lie talked about the Pledge Demon’s unconventional abilities, this must be one of them.
The defense against a mental attack depended on the receiver’s natural resistance. One couldn’t train to defend against such an attack. At least, that was what most cultivators believed. Most arts or techniques utilizing mental attacks had also lost to time. The most common way to generate a mental attack in this era was by using enchanted formations, like what the Royal Academy did for the third entrance exam.
Due to this reason, the Pledge Demon was a very troublesome foe for average cultivators. Amon understood now why Xin Lie said that even a cultivator stronger than the Pledge Demon would have trouble going up against the demon.
Amon’s mind was extremely resilient, as had been proven during the entrance exam. The numbness of his body quickly subsided as his mind regained control. He went to the same window he entered through. He wanted to leave and assessed his options.

Outside, the two remaining seniors, Gao Yun and Yan Miyang, were keeping watch from different corners of the building. They were wondering what was taking their comrades so long. This building might be the largest in this village, but it was considered small if compared to the buildings in the city. It shouldn’t be difficult to find one person inside a building of this size.
They were getting impatient, but they couldn’t leave their posts. What if Amon came out when they decided to go in? They would lose him then. They knew how hard it was to track Amon. They had been doing it for years! They couldn’t afford to fuck this chance.
"Hey, asshole!"
A voice called Gao Yun from behind. He looked back and saw a man with a mustache rushing toward him. In the man’s hand was a splitting axe. The man lifted the axe high and said, "You come to our place and think you can do as you like? Fuck you!!"
The splitting axe came down hard. It left afterimages as it rushed down.
Gao Yun had his weapons ready to assault Amon once he showed himself. His weapons were twin tonfas. The sudden attack from the man with the mustache surprised him, but he was responsive enough to use these tonfas to block.
The axe struck his tonfas. He was surprised to find the strength behind the strike much greater than expected. He couldn’t resist the strike. He was sent plummeting from the roof he was on.
When he crashed into the ground below, two other villagers were upon him. These villagers grabbed his arms while he was disoriented. He tried to use his strength to release himself but found the two villagers were as strong as him.
He watched helplessly as the man with the axe jumped down at him. The man again lifted the axe high. The axe came down at him, heading right for his head. This time, he couldn’t block.

The other senior, Yan Miyang, heard Gao Yun’s surprised cry from the other side. He was undecided for a second because he didn’t want to leave his post. But then he thought, maybe Amon had come out from the other side, and Gao Yun was fighting him.
He hurriedly jumped to the roof of the large building to cross over to the other side. While running, he caught sight of an attack. The sword, which was ready in his hand, swung and deflected a flying knife heading to him.
He then realized another attack behind the flying knife, a small ball that was harder to perceive. The small ball almost hit him, but his hand expertly spun the sword in his hand to block this ball. As the ball hit the blade, it exploded.
White gas spread from the explosion. The gas covered his face. He hurriedly stopped breathing.
The white gas contained Amon’s Fragile Bone Muscle Poison. Amon saw only four people inside the house, so he knew the other two were keeping watch outside. He covertly looked for these two sentries. He could only see Yan Miyang from where he was. When he saw Yan Miyang stop observing and jump to the roof above, he also acted. He immediately attacked. He wanted to finish this one before going for the last senior.
Though Yan Miyang prevented himself from inhaling Amon’s poison, there was another substance inside the white gas. This substance was highly irritant to the eyes. Yan Miyang’s eyes became teary. The pain in his eyes forced him to close his eyes.
Amon added this substance to his non-deadly Poison Cloud Bullets to increase its effectiveness in incapacitating the target. It had paid off.
Amon used Silent Swift Stab when Yan Miyang lost his concentration. His mastery of Silent Swift Stab had also upgraded to the Grandmaster level. He could cover even longer distances at this level. His speed was so fast he was as if teleporting. The additional invisibility during the process made it a perfect move for a kill strike.
His swan dagger stabbed Yan Miyang’s chest. Unfortunately, the dagger failed to penetrate deep enough. This was because a layer of earth had covered Yan Miyang’s body. It was Rock Suit arcane art. Amon had seen Gao Dou using the same art. Yan Miyang’s mastery was below Gao Dou, though, because his earth layer was thinner. Even so, it managed to prevent Amon’s dagger from piercing too deep.
Despite the failure of scoring an instant kill, Amon had prepared a contingency. His other hand, which was not holding the dagger, was ablaze with flame. This flame formed a long lance. Amon’s Flame Lance struck the same spot as his dagger. The arcane art’s penetrative power pierced the Rock Suit and impaled Yan Miyang’s heart.
Amon dashed back with lightning speed after scoring the stab. It was unnecessary because Yan Miyang had lost all his strength. He still couldn’t open his eyes. He slumped on the roof without a chance to see his killer.
’Last one,’ Amon thought. He turned to locate the last senior but saw Yang Jun instead. The village’s security chief was never friendly, to begin with, but his expression was even more unfriendly now.
"Royal Academy student, blame yourself for not heeding my warning!" Yang Jun exclaimed. The axe in his hand turned into multiple images as they spun around his body.
Amon immediately jumped back when the torrents of axes came crashing. The energy sliced the roof they were on and left many cut marks.
While retreating, Amon saw Leng Ku and Yang Su flanking him from opposite sides. He executed Infinite Phantom Slash before the two touched him. The rapid slashes forced them to stop. At the same time, Amon used Hundred Shooting Stars. His flying knives flew in all directions to strike his three opponents.
Leng Ku and Yang Su had to step back from this two-art combo, but Yang Jun didn’t. Yang Jun again swung his axe with a simple downward slash. This time, a wave of energy radiated out. The wave blew all the flying knives away while heading to Amon.
Amon didn’t try to engage the energy wave using brute force. He jumped up to avoid it.
"Hah! You are dead!" Yang Jun exclaimed. Amon couldn’t dodge in mid-air.
He was about to execute another energy wave at Amon in the air when he felt searing heat from behind. He looked back and saw an image of a fiery eagle coming at him.
His axe changed direction and crashed into the fiery eagle. The fire eagle exploded from the blow. Tuang Yin was revealed after the eagle was gone. She was sent flying and crashed into the roof of the next house.
"Good. I can finish you both here," Yang Jun uttered.
"Wait!" Amon called. He had landed safely because of Tuang Yin’s interference.
"It’s too late to beg for mercy," Yang Jun said.
"I’m not. I’m offering you one. I can free you from the Pledge Demon!" Amon exclaimed.
