Chapter 289: Chapter 289. Carrying Out the Ambush

Qiang Dan, who stood beside Amon, also held a new metal glaive. Amon gave it to him earlier. Both the glaive and Lu Fei’s metal fan were produced by Demon Gang’s underworld workshop. These weapons were classified as mid-tier engraved weapons. fгeewёbnoѵel.cσm

Not only them but the other bandits, who stayed in or left this hideout, were also provided with new weapons. These bandits didn’t have blacksmiths who crafted equipment for them. Even if they did, the blacksmith couldn’t procure sufficient materials in the wilderness. The bandits mostly used basic weapons without any power. Only a handful had engraved weapons, and those weapons were mostly low-tier.

Now, each of them possessed at least a low-tier engraved weapon.

The bandits were very happy. Not only were they allowed back into the civilized world, but they were also provided with new weapons, free meals, and free lodging. They saw rows of beds on one side of the hideout. They were told they could sleep there. Out there, they had to sleep on hard ground most of the time.

Yet, they knew these benefits were not truly free. They had to prove their worth to enjoy these privileges. They swore they would not disappoint Amon.

Those on the outside might consider these bandits to have lost their freedom in exchange for these privileges. This was only partially true. It was undisputable that they had to adhere to more rules now that they were in a city compared to when they were in the wilderness, but they were also not completely free out there.

They couldn’t survive alone in the wilderness filled with spirit beasts. That’s why they formed groups. As long as one was in a group, there would always be rules, even if they were unwritten. The leader was the one who set the rules, but even the leader had a set of rules to follow. If not, the followers might decide to mutiny.

The rules in the wilderness might be fewer than in civilized settlements, but they were stricter because violating them might as well mean losing one’s life.

Some of these bandits did set out to leave civilization, yearning for freedom, only to be faced with the cold truth. By then, it was too late for them to return to their old life. As for most, they were forced to live the bandit life, either out of poverty or to flee the authorities or powerful clans.

Hence, they were grateful to Amon for this second chance back in civilization. Amon also hammered in this fact before he brought them here. He would toss them out if they caused him trouble instead of assistance. This was the deal for bringing them into this city.

Amon spent the rest of the night discussing matters with his higher-ups before leaving them. He would wait for Xin Wuming’s news if their operation should proceed the next night.

The next night, five rowdy men entered a brothel in a district that used to be run by the Demon Gang. The Alley Advocates ran the show in this district now. They made sure everyone knew it. Every night, their members patrolled the streets and made loud noises. They barged into night establishments like taverns and brothels and used the service without paying.

The owners of the establishments were vexed. They had no backing from clans, so they could only endure. As long as these underworld people didn’t go too far, they didn’t want the trouble of calling the authorities.

Because of this, they sort of missed it when the Demon Gang was still in charge. They still had to pay protection money, but at least the Demon Gang members didn’t abuse their power and demanded free service.

The manager of the brothel came to meet the five rowdy men who just entered. He tried to smile, but everyone could see his smile was forced.

"Sir Liu Lang, welcome," The manager greeted.

"I want the usual. Four rooms with your prettiest girls!" Liu Lang boomed.

"I’m sorry, sir. It has been a busy night. I only have two rooms left, but they were deluxe rooms, and I’ve already spared four of my top girls for you."

"What the hell? Are you asking me to share a room?" Liu Lang scolded.

His followers laughed. "Haha. It’s not like we haven’t seen you do it, boss. Are you shy?"

"Shy your head!" Liu Lang made a show as if he wanted to smack the person who talked. He then turned to the manager. "All right. I will let you off this time because I’m in a good mood. If this happens again the next time we come, I will have your head. Do you get me?"

"Very clear, sir," the manager replied. He called one of his staff to bring Liu Lang and his men to the prepared rooms.

As they left, they didn’t see the glint in the manager’s eyes, who stared at their backs.

Half an hour later, Liu Lang and one of his men were inside the deluxe room. The two were hard at work pumping their manhood into the women under them. Another two men were next door doing the same thing. The remaining one was outside, keeping watch. He had drawn the short straw, so he could only grit his teeth while he listened to the pleasure moans of his comrades inside the two rooms.

"Why are you so quiet? I like my girl to make noise!" Liu Lang slapped the woman he was fucking.

"Haha, you better do as my boss says," his friend, who was fucking another woman, said. "He once beat a woman until she was unconscious for not doing what he wanted."

Liu Lang made his point by giving the woman another slap.

"Ah! Ah!" The woman started shouting.

"You sound hurt! I want pleasure voice!" Liu Lang gave the woman another slap.

The woman tried her best to make sensual moans. Tears were trickling from her eyes due to the pain in her cheeks.

"That’s more like it. Keep at it. I’m about to cum."

Suddenly, the door to their room exploded. Water and light burst through the exploded door. The light was faster. It was already upon them before they could make sense of what was happening.

The light slammed into the head of Liu Lang’s friend. His friend shot away due to the impact. The light was still on his head as he was pushed by the momentum onto the wall. When he hit the wall, his head cracked. The light on his head revealed itself to be the foot of a person. This person was Lu Fei.

The owner of the water that barged in with Lu Fei’s light was Qiang Dan. His water was slower, so Liu Lang could react before he arrived. Liu Lang pushed himself up and drew his weapon from his space ring. A thick saber appeared in his hand. He swung this saber as Qiang Dan’s glaive approached.

The glaive and saber collided. The collision threw Liu Lang back. From the exchange, Liu Lang gauged his enemy to be similar in strength to him. He was thrown back because he didn’t have much time to gather his energy to power his swing.

When he wanted to gather energy for his art, Lu Fei again turned into a streak of light. This was an arcane art bestowed by Amon when Lu Fei pledged his loyalty. Lu Fei had an affinity for the light element. Amon chose a high-tier-practitioner arcane art from the books in his Pyramid Library to give to him. This light element arcane art was called the First Light at Dawn.

This arcane art was part movement and part offensive art. It gave the user a burst of speed to cover a short distance. The power of this art increased in proportion to the distance the user had to move before colliding with the target.

First Light at Dawn in beginner mastery only let its user travel in a straight line. The higher one mastered this art, the more changes in direction one could perform. Lu Fei was currently at the expert mastery. The light that shot toward Liu Lang changed directions two times before coming at him from behind.

Liu Lang was surprised by the sudden turning of the light, but he could still react to the changes. He swung his saber to the back and hit the incoming light. A metallic clang was heard from the impact. Liu Lang was again thrown by the collision.

Lu Fei’s leg didn’t suffer damage from getting slashed by Liu Lang’s saber. This was because his leg was protected by a pair of iron greaves. Aside from that, he also used martial arts that hardened his legs.

"Bastard! Do you know who you are messing with? The Alley Advocates will have your head!" Liu Lang exclaimed.

"We will have yours first," Someone wearing a demon mask with golden lines entered the room. Seeing the demon mask, Liu Lang knew who these perpetrators were.

After staying passive for so long, the demon gang finally retaliated!
