Chapter 345: Prelude to The Final Battle

Speaking of the enemy.

Khasavar was planning the final assault right now, seated with his team gathered around him.

"How are preparations coming along?"

"We’ve doubled the number of troops"

Khasavar shook his head. "That’s not enough. I want it tripled"

"We understand that, but since you asked us to keep things under close doors, we can’t make too many purchases at once or we risk leaving a big trail"

Cupping his scaled fists, Khasavar responds. "That’s certainly true...but how long will it take us to secure the needed troops at this speed?"

"Three weeks at least, eight weeks at most"

He nods. Muttering "Not too long but not too short, good"

"What about gateways?"

"We’ve procured a number of them, but it’s wouldn’t be enough to carry out an immediate attack"

"Then get more"

"We’re working on that sir"

"Work faster. Some of my siblings are beginning to take notice"

"You have two months to get everything set" he says. "In the meantime, I’ll gather some friends who’ll spearhead the attack"

Khasavar turns to the draped figure. "Any unusual signs lately?"

He shook his head. "None"

"Good. In two months I want you to map out their areas of activity" he smiles, showcasing a row of sharp white teeth.

"That planet is as good as ours"

On the other hand, Ezra and the gathered Grandmasters cultivated in peace.

Well, peaceful-ish.

With so many of them gathered and filled with energy, friction was inevitable.

The Grandmasters fought every now and then, but as respect to Ezra, they kept the effects to a minimum.

You also had those who sparred, new Grandmasters testing their strength against other new Grandmasters or old ones.

Since they did it in moderation, Ezra didn’t object, it was good to lose some steam every once in a while.

Whilst cultivating, time flew and three weeks were soon gone.

Along the way, he made sure to visit his mother at the end of each week.

With the mana stones, she’d recently reached mid master rank cultivating at her leisure.

Isabella was also cultivating now.

His mother liked the maid very much.

Not much else beyond that...

Ah yes, the siblings took a day to test their strength, battling with one another.

Frederick was the only one that didn’t take a break from cultivation.

His hard work paid off just three weeks later.

Frederick broke through.

As with Ezra, a wave of mana announced the birth of a second Mythic rank to all.

Ezra was the first to approach and congratulate him.

Frederick didn’t miss the chance to propose a spar.

Heading into the clouds, they sparred, and Frederick was sent plunging down into the sea.

Ezra returned to his abode to continue cultivating and Frederick took a breather.

Making small talk with Cabrera and the siblings, he also exchanged greetings with other Grandmasters as they congratulated him.

After that, he took time to do a survey of Black Jaws overall conditions, going from city to city.

Along the way, he stopped by to treat himself to delicacies of all sorts.

To round things up, he brought another set of peak masters to Quartez.

With so many Grandmasters already there, he brought in only six.

Done with all that, Frederick went back to his mundane task of cultivating.

With the eight week passing, it signalled the end of two months.

—------------

On a bleak planet devoid of life, Khasavar stood in the air with his arms crossed whilst looking over the tens of thousands of troops arrayed along the planet’s surface.

He gathered them over the past two months using the resources at his disposal.

Twenty thousand strong.

He wanted even more, but that would draw far too much attention.

This number was already pushing it, it took meticulous planning to have them bought at different place and different times to obscure their identity as the buyer.

Right from gathering a team to planning attacks and recording dungeon activity. The entire ordeal had been taxing.

’It’ll all be worth it’ he told himself.

Turning around, he faces the draped figure with his small horn poking out from the side of his head whilst his eyes discern the complex information over the transparent screens in front of him.

"Is everything set?"

"One moment" replied the draped figure. "Yes, the coordinates are set, where would you like to begin the attack"

"Which parts struggled with our weakest troops? I want them to gather undisturbed and then sweep through the planet in one go"

"Then..." the draped figure looks over, checking a few spots before tapping onto a particular one. "Here would be best"

"It’s filled with the most essence on the whole planet, and by the recorded gateway activity, the highest threat level in the vicinity are rank 5 incipients"

"Rank 5 incipients? I want them to gather undisturbed"

"I heard you, but hear me out. What if we have them go in at once?"

"How exactly do you intend to do that?"

The figure turned to the screen. "By enlarging the gateway. Its something I devised while working with gateways. Just sitback and watch"

"If anything goes wrong, I’ll have your head" Khasavar growled.

"Sure" the figure was unperturbed. Using all ten of his fingers, he sends commands to all gateways.

"Begin the sequence"

Already on standby, the first of many gateways is launched.

Travelling through the vast expanse of space to land at a preprogrammed site.

_________

What commemorated the third month’s beginning for the residents of Quartez were loud thuds.

Multiple loud thuds resounded as several dungeons came down.

It completely disrupted the peaceful atmosphere, drawing everyone’s attention.

Ezra didn’t waste time exiting his abode.

The Grandmasters had also gathered to see the cause of the commotion.

Had it not being for their ranks, the combined impact would’ve blown them away.

[They’ve started their their biggest attack yet]

Ezra got to work, ordering every Grandmaster to gather their armies.

They couldn’t afford to dilly-dally.

The Grandmasters scattered, sending orders to their respective armies to gather for battle.

But it would take days for them to arrive...normally.

As with Frederick reaching Quartez the first time, they were going to Evan’s chain portals.

It had been heavily modified for better and easier use since Frederick first used it to get to Quartez.

It was also the item that allowed all Grandmasters around the globe to gather in Quartez in just four days.

Moreover, they had only taken that long because Frederick decided that they should group up before heading to Quartez so as to check numbers.

Having produced the chains in large quantities just for this sort of situation, it was quickly disseminated to the Grandmasters.

With Elisa’s help, they set up a chain of portals from Lexon into Puton.

She set up portals to the closest kingdoms, while other Grandmasters gathered anyone at and above master rank.

With an external enemy about to begin its biggest attack yet and Ezra at the helm, none had time to process selfish thoughts.

They cooperated, relaying messaging back and forth to maintain order as Masters flooded into Lexon.

Upon entry, they marched for Quartez

Armed and Armoured, these warriors were ready for battle.

All this while, dungeons didn’t stop falling.

At least one dungeon fell every hour, and it didn’t seem like it was going to stop any time soon.

Ezra had to even step back a few times so a dungeon wouldn’t fall on top him.

Ten dungeons, then twenty, then thirty...and it didn’t cease even after the number of dungeons surpassed fifty.

Moreover, the dungeons were placed with sufficient space between, covering most of Quartez.

With no space left for its previous inhabitants, Ezra erased his abode and subsequently abolished the barrier when he saw that they absorbing the mana.

Worse, because the dungeons awakened upon landing, they couldn’t shatter its crystals to destroy it from within.

Of the town nearby, everyone below master rank evacuated to the cities close to the capital, fearing for their lives.

Four days later, through the cooperation of dozens of Grandmasters, an army of six thousand lay in front of Quartez, overlooking the dungeons.

Ninety dungeons lay scattered all over Quartiz soil, strewn about like pieces of stone.

Every single one was active, but no monsters had come through.

All the dungeons explored were found empty, leaving Oranians stumped on what exactly was going on.

The tense atmosphere surrounding the place was reminiscent of how the apocalypse felt during Kevin’s time.

With each passing day, the tension heightened.

All the while, Ezra continued cultivating in the sky, unnerved by the dungeons.

This time things would be different.

Having conversed with Zydrax over the last four days, he’d learnt a few things about the dungeon masters.

Beyond just warfare, depending on the situation, diplomacy could even be employed.

From Zydrax’s words, the best and easiest route to solve the issue was for Ezra to reach Transcendent rank.

All of a sudden, the dungeons began shaking.

The next moment a line of blue light, reminiscent of the energy within dungeons, starts from farthest and touches all the others.

Without warning, the dungeons are uprooted towards the one afar like metal being dragged by a magnet.

Falling on the first one, they attach like glue, covering its shape completely as if burying it.

Right after, the blue energy covers the entire structure in a bright glow.

As it receded, the dungeons begin to break apart and reattach as part of a larger structure.

It took five minutes for each dungeon to break apart, flatten, and input itself into the structure like building blocks.

The new structure was in everyone’s view, and it didn’t take more than a minute to decipher what it was.

A gigantic dungeon.
