Rise Of The Infinite Sovereign-Chapter 376: Talking to Vera
Chapter 376: Talking to Vera
Grabbing books to give Oranians, Ezra made sure to specially focus on any that involved invention, such as basic engineering, engineering for beginners, magic engineering for dummies, best farming techniques in bad climate and so on and so forth.
Along the lines, he soon discovered that he couldn’t find the continuation for such books, and upon asking the attendant, it turned out that those ones were placed in separate sections.
Heading there, he met rows and rows of books aligned on large shelves. This subsection was big enough to be a separate bookstore.
Putting his brain to use, Ezra simply requested that the attendant add three copies of every educational book in the bookstore to his shopping list and make sure it was in hardcopy.
Whilst that was arranged, Ezra browsed other subsections, to secure a few more things.
Here he comes across a subsection of items that offered a separate subspace. What would you know, both here and on Orion, such items were expensive.
Thankfully, he had a thirty percent discount attached to all products, so Ezra snatched up multiple of such items to give to his mom, Frederick, the siblings and the rest.
Here, they were of much larger variety. You had containers for liquid components, rings, belts, bags, needle cases, and even wooden boxes to store array material or enough weapons to fit an army.
Apparently there was even a tattoo one could get that somehow gave a person the control of a subspace.
Moreover, unlike items in Orion, the items here were stylish, with different kinds of colours branded on them, they looked luxurious.
Ezra ordered at least two of every subspace item, and made sure they were the best in their category except for some exceptionally ludicrous products.
In ten minutes, the attendant returned, he was done filling Ezra’s request.
With that, Ezra decides to end his shopping spree at this juncture and heads to pay.
The total amount of what he had bought reached a staggering amount of six million.
With forty million on hand, Ezra paid instantly and then had the staff arrange the items neatly on the floor.
Though it took some time thanks to the large amount of books, they eventually had it all arranged.
To which Ezra wasted no time, using to send it all to Orion whilst keeping a single top-grade subspace ring on him person.
With that, he exits the mall.
At the same time, a group of armoured black dragons conversed at a round table, seated in a high class restaurant.
Alongside the red dragons, the black dragons also sent reinforcements, and right now, all of them looked hostile.
The biggest among them slammed his hand on the table.
"You still don’t have any information on who killed the astral beast?"
"We have nothing"
"Haa..." the leader rubbed his head, clicking his tongue. "How frustrating"
They too had come as reinforcements with the intent of earning some part of the beast corpse, but not only did they not see the beast, they weren’t even able to find out who killed it if only to solve their curiosities.
So, they decided to stick around for a few drinks to see if they could find anything.
But nothing came up.
All of a sudden, the Cretin council released a statement that clarified the disappearance of the astral beasts as the work of the red dragon reinforcements, who swiftly eliminated the beast and saved them all from dying.
"Damn those red dragons!"
The answer only had the leader even more furious.
"They stole our kill!"
None of the others said anything, waiting for the leader’s rage to die down.
Seconds later, the leader huffed in annoyance before issuing a command.
"Let’s go"
No matter how angry they were, it was the red dragon that took it. There was no way to have them relinquish it unless they were ready for war.
With nothing else to gain, the group left Cretin soon after.
In this way, Ezra warded off many fellows that would’ve likely come to bother him and avoided trouble just like the communicator advised.
This statement soon spread across the galactic web, with many cheering on the red dragon clan for their deeds.
In this way, Evanol and the rest of his team members avoided any scolding and were actually praised by many of their fellow clansmen and even elders instead.
But their patron-who was actually aware of how things went down as she had invested the most into it-couldn’t have been more furious.
Seated on a green throne placed atop a sufficiently high podium in polymorph form, her face beheld a chilling smile while looking over Evanol below.
"Silver Star was it? This fellow...is very interesting" she commented, slowly puffing out smoke after having inhaled from the wooden smoker in her hand.
"Give me his number. Let me see what he’s really about"
"Yes, Elder" Evanol didn’t dare put up an excuse, he could feel her rage from all the way here.
There was no doubt that he could very well die at this moment if he infuriated her any further.
Getting the digits, she dialled it immediately, making it a video call, and not a minute later, Ezra picked up.
Upon connection, Ezra simply stared at the random woman smoking while she did the same.
"Who are you?"
Exhaling smoke, she responds in a leisure tone. "I’m Evanol’s patron"
"Huh? Then aren’t you supposed to be a dragon?"
With a word, her head suddenly grows three times in size with red scales replacing her skin as it turns into that of a dragon before rapidly changing back to that of a human.
"Point made" Ezra remarked.
"You don’t seem surprised"
"There are very few things that can surprise me"
"Is that so? Did you expect me to call you then?"
Ezra shrugged. "Who knows?"
"You’re quite the rude fellow. My student tells me you intend to sell me cultivation enhancing elixirs"
"Only if you’re interested, of course"
She raised a brow in disdain. "Your confidence amazes me, what makes you think you’ll be able to sell them elsewhere?"
"I’ll keep that a secret. In any case, I intend to send you a sample in three months and if the quality doesn’t satisfy, you can simply decide not to buy any other elixir...Of course it’s not free, it’ll cost you ten million"
"An astral elixir for ten million? You must be joking"
"I didn’t think a patron of the red dragon would haggle prices. Could it be that you’re not rich but poor instead?"
While the patron kept up her smile, a vein popped above her head.
"Fine then, I will pay ten million-
"Sorry, it’s now twenty million" Ezra ruthlessly cut her off.
...-twenty million. But only after I confirm the elixir"
"Hmm...deal"
"Deal?" the patron restated, surprised.
"Deal" Ezra nodded. "You will get your elixir in three months, look forward to it...ah, yes, what is your name? I can’t going around calling you Evanol’s patron all the time"
"I am Vera Kilzetin, fifth elder of the Red Dragon clan"
"Got it" Ezra nodded. "So Vera, I’m going block this number after this, so don’t waste your time trying to call me"
"What-
"Goodbye" Ezra waved, unilaterally cutting off the call.
A silence pervaded for minutes after the call ended.
Vera was left thunderstruck, she couldn’t quite come to the reality of what just transpired.
First shock, and then rage took over.
She couldn’t believe she was cut off for the second time by a mere Transcendent. Not to mention, this fellow dared to call by her bare name, when last had she been humiliated like this?
’I was going to threaten him a little to give me some parts of the astral beast’s corpse, but he dared to humiliate me like this?!’
Her rage solidified and killing intent erupted.
’I’m going to kill him!’ she screams internally.
’I’m going kill that bastard and rip him to shreds!’
With her red eyes glowing, she turned to Evanol.
"Tell me everything you know about that bastard"
Evanol lowered his head immediately, feeling immense trepidation. He’d never seen his patron this angry before.
"Yes Elder"
At the back of his mind, Evanol was delighted.
’Huhuhu. You’ve done it now, your arrogance has sealed your fate. I can’t wait to see that smug face of yours ripped to shreds’
Straightening his expression, Evanol raised his head.
******
On the other end, Ezra just finished blocking Vera’s number.
He’d done exactly as Zydrax advised.
As for whether that was truly the best option, Zydrax had extensively explained why it was necessary.
[It doesn’t matter what you do from now on, people who are more powerful than you will always try to step on you. If you let them, they’ll mock you for your weakness and if you resist, they’ll get angry that you didn’t let them step on you. It’s a situation you’ll occasionally face in the world of higher beings, so make sure you show that you don’t take shit right from the start]
Just like he said, Ezra gave Vera no chance to start bullshit.
While it would be unwise to do such to a potential customer, Ezra wasn’t bothered.
They wouldn’t realize that she needed him, not the other way around.
If he was still creating normal elixirs, then this would cause for a bad situation, because normal astral elixirs weren’t of much rarity to clans.
With connections to Nascents and other clans, it was fairly easy to source elixirs or pills of different functions.
This meant, selling astral elixirs to clans would go as smoothly as one would think.
But things were different for top-tier elixirs!
No matter how many were made, top-tier elixirs always sold out fast! Making them consistently rare items.
You’d have to fork out a lot in order to exchange for one; even then, most clans would never exchange top-tier elixirs with other clans!
It couldn’t be helped, higher beings would prefer to use top-tier elixirs over normal ones any day, and it didn’t have side-effects.
Meaning you could use as many as you wanted just like normal elixirs!
But in contrast, the effects of a top-tier elixir was guaranteed to be at least ten times more potent than a normal elixir given they were made for the same function!
So, of course no clan would sell it. This meant explosively making their competition stronger! Why would they do that?!
Then, you had the fact that only master alchemists could produce such elixirs, but most master alchemists were already tied to big clans who restricted sales to only their members, and this is one of the reasons behind the insurmountable gap between big clans and small clans.
In the past, some clans mistreated their master alchemists, feeling there would be no repercussions, until when one clan had more than half of its clansmen die from energy deviation caused by cultivation pills and the alchemist committed suicide, leading the clans downfall in a endless spiral did others learn and change occurred.
Independent master alchemists were even rarer, and as their name stated, they couldn’t be bossed around.
Some did business on the regular, while most of them simply make potions when they feel like it and sell it for millions. Some only made potions when their coffins started to run dry, pumping a couple hundred potions per year or half a year.
Even those were heavily contested for, and it would eventually end with each potion being snatched by a different clan, so getting a large supply was out of question.
With all this said, what then would happen when Vera is handed the elixir in three months, only to discover it to be of top-tier quality?
Keep in mind, this wasn’t just any top-tier elixir, but a top-tier astral elixir! ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom
Astral elixirs or rather, any potion, elixir, pill, ink, brush, weapon or array made with things of astral property was naturally more durable and powerful than the normal item.
Therefore, where normal top-tier elixirs would guarantee ten times more potency, and top-tier astral elixirs of the same function guaranteed a minimum of twenty-times more potency!
As such, Ezra was sure.
’She’ll be begging me in three months’
Once Vera receives the elixirs and recognizes what sort of opportunity it presents, she will scramble to contact him.
At that time, she will desperately try to appease him and in doing so, raise the price of the elixir herself without himself having to do much.
He would earn far more money than he could currently imagine.
From the moment he met the red dragon reinforcements, he planned to sell them astral potions.
Then, thanks to luck, he acquired more money than he’d anticipated and instantly decided to make top-tier elixirs instead.
The council members thought he had a clan to send the astral elixirs too, or maybe send the corpse to for processing.
Sidal didn’t inform the council that he’d signed an exclusive contract with Ezra, and had in fact lied to them saying the deal was unsuccessful, and that was why Ezra took back the corpse and blood in a container.
Spinning it that because he gifted Ezra the container, Ezra repaid him by giving him his number.
The security couldn’t deny it since they didn’t hear the details of what Ezra and Sidal discussed; Moreover, why would they contradict their boss when they didn’t want to lose their jobs???
And while Ezra told the head officer things went well, who knew what that meant? Not to mention, the head officer wasn’t going to do anything to cause his benefactor trouble.
He wasn’t some naïve fool. He knew none of the council members would shed a tear if he died and he worked hard at his job because he believed he ought to, not out of love or blind loyalty.
As for why Sidal lied? From his perspective, it only made sense.
The council members were people of large wealth and influence, so it wouldn’t be weird if they started having ideas on the astral beast’s corpse.
No, it would be weird if they didn’t have any ideas! Anybody would be tempted.
With their eyes green with greed, they would try all sorts of methods to get the astral beast corpse for themselves, and while Sidal was confident he wouldn’t be helpless even then, he couldn’t underestimate them either.
They would surely make his life miserable.
In fact, if they became aware of the exclusive contract, they would simply have AlphaNova fire him to render the exclusive contract null and void.
This would have him deemed incapable of fulfilling his side of the contract and therefore, cause a nullification by default.
Not mentioning many, many, many more problems that would crop up.
As such, if his plans were to succeed and his dream achieved, Sidal had to keep his moves hidden.
As a solution, he hastily rented out a workshop for six months in separate subspace to maintain secrecy.
It cost him ten million, but it was money well spent.
In this way, Ezra obtained not only an astronomical amount for remuneration but even stable funding in the form of investments that he likely wouldn’t have gotten otherwise as a result of the actions of others.
It is thus no surprise that’s thoughts of the future made Ezra gleeful.
Now, he just needed to set down a structure that resulted in the future he was imagining.
As such, he marked out the next few objectives.
.Meeting the master alchemist to ensure the production of top-tier elixirs.
.Head back to Orion to distribute all the nuggets of knowledge he bought to push the planet into a phase of rapid advancement.
.Take a trip into Oranian Oceans and Seas to resolve his curiosity by confirming the things said to live beneath. As the ocean was an area mostly unexplored even during his past life.
Then take his time afterwards to thoroughly examine the system, specifically in order to align it into his plans.
’There’s a lot to do’ Ezra thought. ’It would be nice if that alchemist hurried up’
A minute later, his communicator rang.
Checking it, Ezra smiles.
The Master Alchemist had arrived.
