Rise Of The Infinite Sovereign-Chapter 385: Cultivation Explained
Chapter 385: Cultivation Explained
Cultivation or the act of cultivating, was simply about refining energy, and the ultimate goal for cultivators was to refine it to its highest and purest form.
The duty of a cultivator was to refine energy to a higher level while simultaneously building their bodies to withstand the energy.
Here, things differed amongst higher beings in regards to how they utilized the energy.
You had Gladiators, who exclusively focus on mastering bodily control, these set of people fuse elemental attacks with their combat technique.
Wielding all sorts of weapons, these types of higher beings usually excel at close combat, they were also the most common type.
Beyond them, you had mages who used energy to bend elements to their bidding by blending it into runes, spells and arrays.
Lastly, you had Psychics, these set of higher beings were more proficient in traversing the mental realm.
By fusing energy into their consciousness, they manifested mental images into reality, dealing critical damage to the mind and soul with their attacks and deploy attacks.
In combination with different races and bloodline abilities, there were practically infinite variations of fighting styles even amongst those of the same category.
In regards to cultivating, whilst refining energy, one must possess a vessel strong enough to withstand it.
In essence, if Ezra tried to infuse origin energy-energy cultivated by Transcendents-into an untrained body or even a Grandmaster, it would kill them.
The ranks of energy purity were split into five.
Worldly Energy, Origin energy, Nova essence, Dimensional Energy, and Aether.
Matching the major ranks of a cultivator.
Incipient, Transcendent, Nascent, Constellation and Paragon.
Normally, Ascendant rank would be slotted between Nascent and Constellation because of its significance, but because Ascendants cultivated using Nova essence just like Nascents, there were disparages as to whether it should be placed as a major realm or not.
Only, the method of cultivating and advancing differed.
Beyond these five, Ezra knew one more from his experience.
Aurora Energy and the Sovereign rank.
With how the universe soul space turned him as into a Fledgling Sovereign, he speculated that aurora energy was the corresponding energy to the Sovereign
Rank.
Apart from these, you had stages of cultivation, or energy refinement.
From Zydraxs words, the Transcendent ranks was called the Soul refinement stage.
The first stage. That is from Novice to Mythic rank, was about developing your body and energy capabilities to form a core.
Thus, the core formation stage.
Shattering that core and fusing it with the soul would enter someone into the soul refinement stage.
Upon entering the Soul refinement stage or Transcendent ranks, the worldly energy contained within the core created during incipience would be converted into origin energy, and it would be the base to dictate the upper limit of one’s energy capacity throughout each Transcendent rank.
In simpler terms, this meant that during the breakthrough into the realm of Transcendence, the mana core created during Grandmaster stage would shatter and fuse with the soul and the mana within would convert to origin energy.
To then cultivate, one would then have to use the origin energy within their soul to refine it.
Refining their soul would have it go from solid to liquid states and then to gaseous state, and at each stage, would be able to accumulate more and more origin energy which would become a foundation for the next stage.
Thus, the soul refinement stage.
The mana core’s capacity would become one’s energy capacity at the start of Transcendent rank, which by default, set the upper limit of how much more one could increase their energy capacity with every rank.
As such, those who didn’t solidify their foundations and rushed to advance would find themselves at a disadvantage against those who made effort to solidify their foundations.
Because with each rank they advanced afterwards, the gap in energy capacity would only grow and even affect their starting point as a nascent.
In the way, Ezra was a special case.
No, Ezra was a very special case.
Because his mana core was broken, his mana was held in his body, flowing together with his blood.
This for one, allowed him to hold a bit more mana than your average Grandmaster.
With Zydraxs help, he then fused the mana cube that contained a substantial amount of the purest mana with an energy framework containing dimensional energy along with a large amount of negative mana specialized for strengthening the physique.
Utilizing the ice source or negative crystal, the negative mana was also refined to the purest level.
Adding to that, he even absorbed the origin energy from not just the cores of the dragons he’d killed but also from the humongous dungeon gate that appeared on Orion
At other times, such an act would be suicide, but since he was already on the edge of breaking through to Transcendent at the time, the origin energy simply hastened this process.
With his body literally filled with energy at that time, Ezra flew out of Orion and advanced into Transcendence in space.
In doing so, his soul fused with the massive amount of energy flowing through his body, embedding him with a vast energy reserve right from the onset.
Adding to this, his soul then fused with the cube holding mana, negative mana and dimensional energy together.
This chain reaction cascaded into the creation of a soul space.
Beyond this, the negative mana strengthened his body in all forms, increasing his speed, strength, energy recovery speed, and even strengthened the effects of the little demonic blood within him, granting him faster healing than your average Transcendent.
All this made Ezra’s strength an anomaly in the ranks of Transcendents.
It was not on a whim nor by luck that the Cretin council decided to invest in him.
The attacks of normal rank two Transcendents would not even make an astral beast flinch and like flies, would just annoy them.
Ezra’s attacks made it shiver! His bare strength allowed him to tear through its innards like a miner looking for gold!
Only rank six Transcendents and the most exceptional rank fives were known to have ever been able to perform such a feat.
Ezra was doing it at rank three!
Does this now explain why everyone thinks Ezra is the banished genius of a monstrous sect?!
It’s not because they’re stupid! It’s because nothing else makes sense!
Zydrax failed to make the difference in strength between him and other Transcendents clear not out of ignorance but because he didn’t want to see Ezra’s pride become uselessly inflated.
Besides, Ezra would eventually find out himself in due time and until then, not knowing would not hurt him.
Ezra had at least three times, if not four times the average Transcendent at rank one, and the disparity only grew as he advanced.
With the inclusion of that increased the strength of Ezra’s soul with every added subordinate no matter how little, this disparity was extensively magnified.
For normal Transcendents, they slowly refined their souls using origin energy and then repeated the process once their energy recovered.
Unlike other Transcendents, he did not have an upper limit on how much he could increase his soul power, thus
Giving him the prowess normally known for those two ranks above him.
While stabilizing his cultivation, random thoughts started popping into Ezra’s mind.
’Come to think of it. Didn’t Severus have horns before? Where did they go?’
Considering that he’d initially forgotten that Severus was in Lumeria, it wasn’t too surprising.
Ezra shook his head in disapproval. It felt weird for him to still be forgetting things at this point.
At this time, Sidal had completed the packaging of the astral elixirs.
Placing it in a blue metal chest, he contacted Evanol, informing him of the arrival of the promised product and asked for the meeting point.
With Evanol being someone of great pride, he questioned why Sidal couldn’t simply bring it over himself.
"I apologize. But I cannot grace you with my presence on the account of my safety"
"Your safety?" Evanol questioned. Bewildered.
Usually, merchants begged to visit their clan headquarters.
So what was this fellow saying?
"With instructions from Mr. Sylvester himself, I was informed of your rocky relationship and out of concern for my own wellbeing, I will avoid any direct contact until further notice" Sidal spoke succinctly.
Adjusting his monocle, he continues.
"So, would you prefer that I send over one of my subordinates to deliver the elixir to your doorstep, or would you rather send someone over to pick it up?"
It took Evanol a bit to respond.
"...Send someone to the Lis hub, I’ll pick it up there"
"Understood. I will do so immediately" replied Sidal, motioning to cut off the call before stopping. "And when might I ask, should we expect to receive payment?"
Evanol’s brows twitched.
’This bastard!’
He was furious, for a mere merchant to talk to him like this! No matter how much the red dragon clan was said to have fallen, it was not something a mere merchant could look down on!
Thinking of the cause of the current incomprehensible situation, Evanol’s anger towards Ezra soared.
’Just you wait’ He thought. ’I’ll see what you’ll do once we pluck that Silver Star of yours’
While fuming on the inside, Evanol’s face remained neutral, though his eyes told a different story.
With the matter settled, Evanol cut the call. Not wanting to speak even a second longer.
With all sorts of protective enchantments placed on the chest, its security was certified, the nature of the items within would leak out under any circumstances and once opened, evidence of it could not be hidden.
Contrary to his words, Sidal didn’t dare give the trade to his subordinates to handle.
Getting into a rented spaceship with his security in tow, Sidal headed for the Lis Hub.
