Rise Of The Infinite Sovereign-Chapter 440: Prismatic Sentinel
Chapter 440: Prismatic Sentinel
"Why do none of you have enough etiquette to let me pick my rewards?!"
*P-um*P-um*P-um*P-um*
Unconcerned with Ezra’s babbling, the beasts continuously send light beams towards him, forcing him to skid both forward and backwards as though dancing in order to dodge before successfully picking up his rewards and inducting them.
At that, Ezra leaps forward to where Skyfall had fallen while still under fire, earning a few burns as a result.
Grabbing Skyfall, Ezra turns around and sprints towards the origin of the light beams, annoyed at their unrelenting attacks and determined to hunt down every single one of them.
As he approached, the trajectory of the light beams began changing—the lizards were changing positions once again.
Picking a target, Magnus immediately sprints in its direction, ignoring all the rest.
As he did, light beams fly at him from behind, piercing through his shawl of darkness.
It seems the other lizards are trying to buy time for his target to escape, but Ezra certainly wasn’t going to let that happen
Concentrating energy into Skyfall, Ezra let’s out a wave of fire towards the lizard, catching it off guard and killing it right away.
Leaving behind his rewards, Ezra is quick to pick them up before sprinting towards his next target.
Like this, Ezra continues struggling before eventually killing all the despicable lizards shooting light beams at him, ten in total. fɾēewebnσveℓ.com
Once again, his clothes had turned into rags from the shower of light beams bestowed upon him.
Grabbing the last set of his rewards, Ezra takes his time walking towards the wall demarcating the section, recovering his energy in the process.
Just as bright as the rest of the section, the walls hue was of a deeper shade of the same colour, so Ezra identifies it without much issue.
Rather return to the sovereign universe to cultivate, Ezra felt he still had a good amount of energy within him to take on the next challenge—a telltale sign that he had grown stronger.
If it was before, Ezra would be far much more exhausted, with his energy expended.
Though unsure, Ezra felt he had succeeded in fulfilling the requirements.
’Well, there’s only one way to find out’
Walking right into the opaque wall, Ezra’s smoothly crosses to the other side, erasing his doubts.
Appearing at the second section, Ezra is met with an environment similar to the first but also completely different.
Held in an environment with similar bright light, in front of him lay multiple floating platforms.
Excessively flat, imbued with light purple hue and translucent in nature, they looked like ultra thin mirrors.
These platforms, numbering a good bit above sixty lay arraigned side by side, constantly shifting positions.
For its final touches, these thin mirrors lay within the confines of a construct in the shape of a cube made of the same material.
An incomplete cube to be exact as a certain portion of its edges had nothing shielding the view, which is why Ezra can see the array of purple translucent platforms within.
And of course, the cube frame itself also shifts intermittently, turning on its side at certain intervals.
Certainly, it’s sight gave a fantastical feeling.
But in context, this entire frame— the cube containing all these mirrors —is a gigantic structure with enough space to fit a hundred Ezra’s and still have room left.
Furthermore, the construct lies between the section’s entrance and its exit on the other side, which Ezra could see in the distance.
With both the entrance and exit situated on lands bathed in light structured like canyons, there’s really no other viable option in sight.
Meaning, Ezra had to crossover on these thin, translucent platforms and transverse them to reach the other side of this section without falling.
Taking a deep breath, Ezra let’s off an energy slash towards the construct to see if it did anything.
Unfortunately not. His energy wave dissipates upon reaching the construct as though it had hit a barrier, causing Ezra to be sceptical.
But the option of running into the sovereign universe gave him enough courage to attempt such a trial alone.
Bracing himself for the worst, Ezra leaps on the platform closest to him, initiating the start of the section trial.
For one, the thin platforms aren’t as hazardous as he expected, being much easier to stand on as Ezra imagined they would be slippery.
On the other hand, Ezra could now see what lay beneath this rotating cube.
A whirlpool of light.
Looking closely, it’s a whirling mass of sparkling liquid glittering with a cacophony of every possible colour, resulting in an otherworldly sight.
Perhaps for a person of low mental acuity, it wouldn’t look threatening and rather alluring even.
But Ezra could tell. There’s nothing romantic about falling inside this whirlpool, those glittering items would probably only hasten’s a persons misery, tearing them to shreds within seconds.
’Well, this is good’
As he figures out his next move, Ezra’s senses scream, alerting him to an approaching danger.
With the experience from the first section still fresh, Ezra immediately crouches, dodging a light beam by a hair’s breadth, what would you know?
But unlike the light beams before, this one is imbued with a colourful yellow hue.
Looking to see the attacker, Ezra spots a creature, presumably humanoid because of its two legs, the size of the fire golem he had battled a day before.
Only, this creature is made of translucent material that reflects and refracts light, with its head shaped like the tip of a star.
Standing on the patch where the exit lay, its two beady eyes glowing like lamps lay locked onto Ezra’s figure.
’I may have spoken too soon’ says Ezra, grimacing. ’Should’ve known it wasn’t going to be easy’
Just then, Zydrax’s voice echoes.
[Oh? To think I’d see one of these here]
’What is it?’
[A prismatic sentinel. It’s a beast that absorbs light and releases in the spectrum of deadly beams, so be careful]
On cue, a second light beam is sent Ezra’s way, forcing him to leap onto another platform.
As he lands, the cube shifts, causing him to fall off his platform but luckily, he falls on another platform.
"Ouch" says Ezra while standing.
Looking towards to the exit, Ezra is flabbergasted to find the exit landscape empty.
Looking around for the sentinel, Ezra suddenly drops on his knees, whilst bending backwards as a red beam flash past his face.
"UGH!"
Despite dodging the majority of it, a small graze leaves his skin sizzling as though deep fried.
His eyes redden from rage whilst staring at the assailant.
The damned sentinel had left the exit canyon and jumped on the floating platforms just to attack him.
Gnashing his teeth, Ezra still had to retract his head against the yellow beams the sentinel follows up with.
With his regeneration kicking into effect, Ezra is quick to leap off that platform and onto another.
Turning his head, Ezra spots the sentinel moving from platform to platform in tandem with his movements, shooting yellow beams in quick succession.
Not one to take attacks unilaterally, Ezra begins counterattacking.
Already pissed because of the previous attack, Ezra began returning the favour, sending energy slashes towards the sentinel.
Specifically fire slashes, as he intended to burn it as well.
In response to this, the sentinel suddenly lets out a green light, which bends, covering its frontal part of it body reminiscent of a barrier.
Upon contact with this green barrier, the energy slashes explode upon contact, releasing fumes of smokes.
In the next instant, Ezra sways, diving to the side as a red beam flash past his previous positions.
"Tch"
Clicking his tongue, Ezra leaps onto another platform.
That green barrier had protected it from the energy slashes.
But no matter, he had begun to decipher how it’s abilities worked, preparing counter measures in his head.
’When you said ’spectrum’ of attacks, you meant that literally. I see’
Apart from that, Ezra realizes that fighting on this shifting platforms put him at a disadvantage.
So for now he ignores the sentinel and leaps across platforms in an attempt to reach the exit canyon.
But even this isn’t easy as the sentinels continuously shoots light beams, seeking to driving him into the pool below.
For the time being, Ezra focuses on evading its attacks while closing the distance to the exit canyon.
The sentinel’s barrage is relentless, and the unstable platforms make every leap a gamble.
Each successful landing only buys Ezra fleeting moments of safety before another beam is sent his way.
The sentinel, as if sensing his intentions, ramps up its assault.
A red beam streaks past Ezra’s shoulder, faster than others before, sizzling the air as it narrowly misses.
Much more cautious, he retaliates with a burst of fiery slashes, aiming to disorient the creature.
The sentinel, however, adapts swiftly, its body shimmering as it refracts the incoming attacks, rendering them ineffective.
Ezra lands on a particularly narrow platform, his breathing heavy but controlled.
He can feel his irritation mounting as the sentinel continues to press him. "You think you’re clever, huh?" he mutters, a smirk forming despite the danger.
"Let’s see how you handle this."
Concentrating Skyfall’s energy, Ezra unleashes a combination of slashes aimed at the sentinel’s feet.
The platforms beneath it tremble under the force of his attacks, and while the sentinel deflects some of the blows, one strike manages to destabilize the platform it stands on.
For a moment, the creature wobbles, giving Ezra a much-needed opening.
Without hesitation, Ezra channels his energy into a burst of speed, leaping across multiple platforms in quick succession.
His target isn’t the exit canyon just yet—it’s the sentinel itself.
As he closes the distance, the sentinel’s star-shaped head flares with a bright red hue. "Not this time," Ezra growls, diving into the air.
A crimson beam tears through the spot he had just vacated, but Ezra twists mid-air, launching himself directly onto the sentinel’s platform.
The impact of his landing sends a ripple through the platform, and the sentinel momentarily falters.
Ezra doesn’t waste the opportunity. Swinging Skyfall in a wide arc, he releases a wave of concentrated fire energy.
The sentinel, caught off guard, raises its green barrier, but this time Ezra’s attack is layered, striking repeatedly in rapid succession.
The barrier flickers under the assault, and Ezra grins. "Got you now," he says, surging forward.
As the platform beneath them begins to shift once again, Ezra prepares for a direct clash with the sentinel, determined to end the battle on his own terms.
In the distance, the exit canyon looms, but for Ezra, the only way forward is through the sentinel.
With Skyfall burning bright in his hands, he steadies his breathing and braces himself for the decisive strike.
