Third Person's POV

They looked like battling specters as they tore through whatever stood in their way.

Yet, Ethan refused to retreat.

Even as he reeled from the strike which he mostly dodged, he twisted his body mid-air and seamlessly shifted his failed stab into a ruthless sideways straight slash aimed at the knight's waist.

The razor-sharp edge of his saber bit into the outer layer of the black armor and a faint but visible wound appeared in its wake.

But just as victory seemed within reach, the dark knight unleashed another furious roar.

A sudden familiar force engulfed Ethan and a powerful repelling shockwave slammed into him with the force of a raging beast.

He only had one thought as a wave of shock threw him away.

Aura explosion? Again!!

His ice armor fractured at multiple points and cracks webbed across the frosty plates as he was launched like a broken projectile.

He crashed violently through debris-littered floors and obliterated wooden structures and stone barriers alike before finally being halted by one of the hall's thick towering pillars.

The entire structure groaned in protest and cracks ran through its foundation as dust and rubble filled the air.

The once-grand Imperial Blade Hall was already reduced to a battlefield of shattered remains.

Screams and shouts erupted from every direction as panicked onlookers scrambled to escape.

They shoved and trampled over each other in a desperate bid to flee the chaos of the two warring dark devils.

Coughing up flecks of blood, Ethan wiped his lips and let out a low chuckle.

His crimson eyes glowed ominously as they settled on a familiar, pitiful figure—it was young master Otto.

The young master was running like a frightened animal though he dragged along a weeping Amelia who pleaded desperately for her release.

Seeing this, a cold smirk stretched across Ethan's lips.

A green dagger materialized in his grip, and with a sharp flick of his wrist, he sent it soaring through the air.

The spinning projectile whizzed forward like a deadly specter and struck Otto's shoulder with a sickening precision.

A shriek of pure agony erupted from the young demon as his eyes widened in disbelief.

With a gruesome squelch, his entire left arm was severed from his body, and fell to the ground with a dull thud.

Blood gushed from the gaping wound and splattered the floor like a grotesque fountain.

His agonized screams like ones of a dying pig tore through the hall and reverberated through the walls and the crowd.

But no one paid him any attention.

Amelia, who was now free from Otto's grasp stumbled backward in horror.

Yet amidst her shock, a glimmer of relief flashed in her tear-streaked eyes.

Without hesitation, she turned and rushed toward Ethan as her breath hitched with desperation.

But Ethan's attention remained locked on Otto.

He was not worried about the dark knight as he had already observed that there was a type of one or two seconds of cooldown before he could move again.

Still smiling darkly, he flicked his fingers once more and manipulated the green dagger mid-air.

The blade twirled and adjusted its trajectory, and now it streaked toward Otto's other shoulder and was ready to finish the job.

Just before it could land, a storming dark juggernaut broke through the wreckage.

The dark knight's massive figure surged forward in a blur of movement and his colossal black broadsword cleaved down like a guillotine.

With a resounding clang, the black blade met the airborne green dagger and cleanly sliced it in two.

The severed halves clattered onto the bloodstained ground and their eerie green glow faded into a lifeless dull hue.

The knight was breathing heavily but instantly snapped his head toward Ethan's last position, only to find nothing.

His eyes widened in disbelief. Ethan was gone and so was the whimpering girl.

A chilling silence settled over the ruined battlefield as the weight of Ethan's disappearance sank in.

Then, the wails of his young master yanked him back to reality.

He turned frantically and his breath caught in his throat at the horrifying sight before him.

Otto was still on the ground and writhing in agony but now, something else was missing.

His severed left arm was gone from the ground.

Seeing this, the dark knight didn't fear repercussions for failing to protect his charge as he was no slave bound by any sort of servitude or punishment.

But it still gnawed at his pride and his warrior's ego was bruised beyond measure.

A mere brat who was barely in his thirties had forced him to unleash his aura explosion twice and inflicted injury upon the one he was meant to protect and had even managed to vanish without a trace.

The more he mulled over it, the deeper his fury burned.

Meanwhile, the incessant cries of the pathetic young master grated on his nerves like nails scraping against metal.

His patience snapped and he roared.

"Shut up, you dumbfuck!!"

His thunderous bellow shook the ruined halls and the sheer force of his voice silenced the whimpering Otto in an instant.

Tears and snot mixed in streaks down Otto's pale face as he gasped for breath and his lips trembled with suppressed cries.

The dark knight exhaled sharply and restrained his irritation.

With a swift motion, he retrieved a blood-colored potion from his storage and uncorked it.

He then forced it down the young master's quivering lips.

Within moments, the elixir worked its magic.

The bleeding ceased and a dark red, gelatinous membrane formed over Otto's severed shoulder and halted further blood loss.

It also had a pain-numbing effect and it worked flawlessly as gradually, Otto's tortured sobs faded into shallow breaths.

Though his face remained twisted in agony, his body no longer convulsed from the excruciating pain.

The knight observed him impassively and shook his head internally at the pitiful display.

What a disgraceful excuse for a demon noble.

Still, it wasn't his place to chastise or mold the young master into something better.
