Rise of the rogue queen-Chapter 8 -
Chapter 8: Chapter 8
Zephyrine's POV
The fight went on for hours with no sign of Bryan in sight.
Alpha Killian stayed hidden in his room refusing to come out.
Well, I wouldn't expect more from an Alpha who is just a puppet.
"Alpha Killian, come out. Hiding like a coward is pathetic and speaks bitter of you."
"He won't come out." The strange monster behind me said.
Having him around was scary, he could control things and make anything do his bidding. I watched as he fought the men, not even a scratch on his body.
Who really is he?
"I know I'm irresistible. But that's not the problem, right now. Quit staring at me and break down this door".
His voice brought me back to reality, jolting me out of my thoughts.
I sneered and raised my head to look at him. Who does he think he is to order me?
Not wanting to press further, I kick down the door with my feet. We entered and saw Alpha Killian, sitting by his table slowly sipping his tea in a cup.
We halted a few meters behind him, shocked by his calm demeanor despite being in the face of death.
"Killian, you better surrender, there's no place for you to go."
He grinned softly, and took another sip before finally putting the cup down. "Caden, you'll stoop so low and side with a rogue to fight against your brother, isn't that ridiculous?"
"Look at pot calling kettle black, aren't you also plotting against your own brother to have him killed?" I scoffed.
He chuckled, "Why do you trust the man behind you? Didn't he tell you?"
I furrowed my brows confused and twitched my lip. "What do you mean?"
Alpha Killian stood up, "Why don't you do the honors of telling her brother? How you lured her here to have her rogues killed because she's a threat."
My eyes widened, and my fist clenched tightly. "Tell me it's not true."
I turned to look at him.
"Of course it is." Alpha Killian replied.
Caden stood unmoved, I couldn't tell if Alpha Killian words were the truth or lies.
At that moment of confusion, Alpha Killian took the opportunity, but Caden was quick to sense his brother's plot. He grabbed my arm, turning me and taking my position as Alpha Killian stabbed him with the spear.
He held me close, so close to his chest that I could hear the slow rhythm of his heartbeat. His warmth felt so peaceful.
"Ca-Caden you've been stabbed."
He smirked and flicked my forehead, "Do you think I'll die by a spear? Tch, you look down on me, princess." He smiled.
I just couldn't fathom how he could smile in a situation like this.
"Wow, interesting, you've just made my job easier. The poison on that spear is enough to paralyze you for eternity, and it takes effect in a second. After I'm done with you, it will be easier to finish her off. I would be the strongest Alpha."
"Your dreams are wild, brothers," Caden's expression suddenly changed. Alpha Killian's feet rose as he floated in the air, an invisible force strangling his neck.
"Wh-what do you think.....you....are doing?" He struggled to say as he held his neck.
"You should hurry back to your rogues. I slowed his men down, you can reach there before them." Caden said.
Something like a big circle appeared and Caden asked me to go in. At first, I was reluctant, what kind of wolf could do all this just by the thought of it?
"I would never try to harm you. You need to hurry and this way is faster. You will be teleported across."
I went in and strangely, I was in rogue land, but the circle closed up immediately.
"Queen Zephyrine is back." The rogues said happily as they rushed to greet me.
"You're back, are you hurt child?" The oldest and eldest of our rogue community, the woman I saved years back, said.
The crowd gave way for her as she passed through with her walking stick in hand to support her.
"You didn't need to come welcome me, I would have come to your chamber."
"Oh, child," she smiled. "I see, you met him again."
"Met him? Who are you referring to?"
"The one!"
There are times she just speaks, like a diviner. Someone who could see past and future. It must be due to her old age. But what's more surprising is that if you ask her what she said the next day, she would have forgotten and denied ever saying anything of such.
She's predicted many occurrences on five occasions and strangely she was right.
This would be the sixth.
"What are you saying, Nana? Who is the one?"
"The one who rescued you years ago. You met him again, didn't you!"
The one who saved me?... Ah! I gasped.
"Do you know who he is?"
"A being capable of destroying the whole world. He is a god. But fate is cruel, both of you..." she paused.
"Both of us?" I asked, urging her to continue. She was silent, her gaze fixed on nothing in particular.

I was desperate to get the remaining words out of her.
"Nana, what will happen to both of us?" I asked again.
She gave me a confused look, "Child, what are you saying? Nothing will happen to both of us."
I sighed, she snapped out of it again.
"Queen Zephyrine, Queen Zephyrine." Roland called from behind, panting hard.
"It was all a lie, Alpha Killian fooled us."
"Calm down, yes I know."
He looked at me, "You knew?" He furrowed his brows. "How are you here?"
"Calm down, I'll explain later. For now, go gather the rogue men and prepare for battle." I said and he nodded running off.
"It's not safe out here, all of you run into your homes and don't come out until everywhere is clear."
They all hurried to their homes, taking their children with them.
Roland returned.
"My queen, they are all ready." He said.
We could hear the sound of the soldiers footsteps approaching us, they were a few meters away and would get to us in no time.
I breathed in deeply and turned to Roland, "Take Nana away and return quickly."
"Yes ma." He looked at Nana, "Come mother, let me take you home, it's not safe out here."
"Be careful son," She said with a warm smile before leaving.
Yes, Roland is the little boy that Nana clutched to her chest the day I saved her and other rogues.
As the sound of marching soldiers drew closer and the rogue men all lined up behind me, we were all determined and prepared to protect what was ours at all cost.
Roland returned with my war cape and I threw it over my shoulder. The soldiers drew near and we could already see them.
They ran to us, transforming into wolves. The first group that came forward all fell into a dip pit we dug as a trap for enemies.
We watched their misery from where we stood, their numbers were triple ours but with the traps round our territory, their numbers would have reduced greatly before the real battle began.
