Rise of The Strongest Monarch-Chapter 35: Two Months
Two months worth of training with Airi to learn how to use this sword; that is how much time has passed. Now I’m standing here looking out the window at the darkness around us.
Training everyday with her taught me a lot about how to properly defend against someone with a sword. At least that is what I can say with confidence now that I’m able to rest.
It is useful to be able to learn from someone like her with all that knowledge in her head all the time.
This has also helped with ignoring the infections influence since I can focus on fighting. The woman hasn’t really spoken much since she told me that it wasn’t the time to tell me her name.
That’s where I’ll take the win for now.
Airi is planning to show me what zierel I need to hunt in order to start making some changes around the city. I don’t know how well that’ll go yet either.
There’s a lot of preparation for me to do before I can even begin to start killing them on my own.
Creakkk.
The door opens and I turn around to see Airi entering my room.
"Still gazing out into the darkness?" Airi asks with curiosity.
"It helps me with trying to understand what they see out there," I answer calmly.
"Do you think you’ve learned anything from it so far?" She asks.
"Honestly, I don’t think I have. They thrive out there more than we ever could, but I’m confident that I can kill them at least," I respond while moving away from the window.
I make my way over to Airi while keeping on guard for anything that might come.
"Killing them is the goal at the end of the day. I’m also confident in you," Airi says with a smile.
"I appreciate your confidence in me," I reply genuinely with a smile.
Airi isn’t going to be joining me on the hunt out there yet since she has some stuff to attend and to here. I don’t know what it is just yet, but she told me not to expect her out there.
At least she told me before starting to go over everything with the hunt.
I honestly thought she’d be worried about me running into a hybrid zierel like the guy she fought 3 months ago. He is quite strong in comparison to me.
I’m not sure if I could beat him or not right now.
"I do intend to be by your side when I finish up with my business... I just want you to know that," Airi says with a bit of worry in her voice.
"There was never any doubt that you wouldn’t be by my side. I just need to know where I’m starting," I respond with a calm, yet serious tone.
She walks past me, leaving the room behind.
I follow behind her until we reach the main room that everything takes place in here. On the chalkboard is a layout of the entire city of Theos.
Certain points are circled on the board with exclamations all around them.
After a closer look I can see that each one is labeled with a name that I didn’t even know about. Probably specific Zierel that need to be killed in order for us to make any dents.
"Over here on market Street you need to wipe out this group of Zierel. They are hunting any stray survivors that live in that district," Airi speaks with a serious tone.
Market street is a place I haven’t seen since I was little... I’ll definitely take care of the zierel lurking around there. Each one I kill will make it a bit safer for those who are stuck.
"After market street you’ll need to head up the road towards 7th Street," Airi continues.
I watch as Airi points out to the specific locations I need to head to, taking in the important information with each place.
It doesn’t take her long to cover everything on the board since I’m already familiar with the city. The only place I am not allowed to go near is the outskirts by the academy.
She doesn’t want me going anywhere near the old housing district that I used to live in. I can understand why since it could trigger something within me.
Something with this infection.
Luckily I don’t have any intentions of going back there right now... Not until I have a better understanding of what this infection can do to me.
Putting people at risk is not the goal by any means. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
"This will definitely be a long hunt for you, I hope you are ready," Airi says with a serious look in her eyes.
"You’ve been showing me how to fight with this sword for two months, along with educating me more on the Zierel. I think I’m more than ready to get out there," I reply while looking down at my right hand.
Aether gave me the best possible weapon to fight against these monsters so why should I wait around to use it?
"A human hunting zierel with just the power of some sword is quite intriguing. I think I’m curious to see what happens now," the womans voice echoes.
Here I thought you were gone for good.
"Here I thought you wouldn’t yap as much as before, but I was wrong," She replies with a laugh.
You know that this is more than just a normal sword... Not that I believe it is the strongest thing in the world, but it is powerful.
"Any weapon can be powerful in the right hands. Zierel and light bearers all possess weapons of their own, well not all zierel," She responds nonchalantly.
Wriggle. Wriggle.
You squirming around in my arm is really disgusting sometimes, I hope you know that. But I don’t think you’re wrong with what you’re saying either.
Weapons will always be based on the person wielding it, that much is true. But humans are going through an evolution of their own with magic and powers.
That alone is quite a scary weapon for us to possess.
