Rise Online: Return of the Legendary Player-Chapter 247 The Evil Spirit (Part 3)
When the chains were broken near the base, what little red color remained on the walls and floor, as well as the huge pulsating veins and chains in the skies, quickly withered, turning completely white and brittle.
In the very second that all this began to happen around Kaizen, the Evil Spirit felt that her connection to the abundance of energy she had was severed. Instantly, she looked down and saw Psyker, a little breathless, with the chains in his hands. The wrinkled, shadowed countenance on her face showed everyone how angry she was at what he did.
"ARGHHHHH! DAMNED!.... YOU WILL PAY IN BLOOD FOR THIS!" She shouted to Kaizen, pointed at him, and said to the spirits, "GO, GET THAT EVIL ONE!"
However, when she ordered them to do so, none did.
Confused, she looked behind her and saw that the chains that bound the cursed spirits behind her back were rapidly turning whitish, as was the entire manor.
And these white chains were clearly much more fragile than the black chains, thus allowing the spirits to easily break them to get free.
When freed, the spirits looked at each other and did not know how to react.
Should they obey the woman's orders because of the fear they were feeling, or was this finally the opportunity for them to free themselves from her dominion?
The answer to this questioning proved to be neither of these two options when one of the cursed spirits began to glow brightly, and then it began to climb alone towards the hole of light in the gray cloud sky. 𝘧𝚛𝗲𝘦𝚠𝙚𝙗𝙣o𝙫𝗲𝚕.𝐜o𝓂
The Evil Spirit shouted as he watched this spirit ascend:
"DON'T YOU DARE LEAVE! YOU ARE NOT WORTHY TO GO UNTIL I HAVE MY REVENGE!"
All the spirits immediately thought that if going into the light was something the gruesome woman didn't want them to do, surely that was what they should do. Consequently, they began to follow the first spirit and at a certain point in their climb they didn't have to make any effort to keep going up, because their bodies also began to glow and they slowly began to climb. 𝐟𝓇ℯ𝐞𝚠𝚎𝒃𝑛𝒐ѵe𝚕.co𝚖
"I TOLD YOU NOT TO GO, YOU BASTARDS!" The woman screamed and started to fly to stop the other ghosts, however, at that moment, the old man appeared before her and used his shield to throw her backwards.
Without saying a word, the old man stood there to ensure that even those who had just attacked him could finally have the peace they so desperately sought.
This time, the old man's blow seemed to have had a considered effect on the Evil Spirit, because she flew many meters backwards.
Although the old man was a weaker being than she was, he was still powerful and could finish her off if she kept her guard down, and the Evil Spirit understood this perfectly with this blow of his. So she roared with rage and flew at him once again, in order not to allow him to take the lead in the battle.
When again the onslaughts of the two collided in midair, the gale of wind generated by this not only threw Kaizen's hair back, but also brought down the rotten walls of the chamber he was in. And as soon as the cracked walls fell to the ground, the Evil Spirit felt it as if it had been a blow, thus opening the gap for the old man to land a punch on her, which in turn made the walls of the manor even easier to break.
In this way Kaizen understood that the manor and the Evil Spirit didn't just have a connection, they were the same thing, the same being, with the same soul. In other words, when the village chief's wife died, she not only cursed herself, she also cursed the house where the two of them lived. This explained why the inside of the house seemed so alive, as well as why it was so difficult to get to where the core was, that is, her heart.
That being the case, Kaizen had another idea and with the little HP and MP left to him, he began to cut into the walls with the Eye of Storm Sword, which had the ability to cause bleeding.
With each cut of Psyker's blade, the personification of the Cursed Spirit felt a lot of pain, and the old man's ghost used this to attack her as well. Quickly, the battle both in the air and on the ground turned into a massacre. The more Kaizen hit, the more the old man hit her, and the more blows that were delivered against her, the easier the walls became to break. It was a snowball effect that could not be stopped.
It didn't take long for the Cursed Spirit to also acquire a pale and fragile look. She had no chance at all of winning after losing her enslaved spirits.
When Kaizen knocked down the last wall of the core chamber, the entire rest of the manor began to collapse rapidly, and at that moment, an explosion happened in the sky as the old man finally managed to put his hand through the Evil Spirit's chest, killing her.
"Damn you..." She grumbled and still tried to reach the old man's face with her claws, but her hands became white soot before she could do that.
[You killed the Cursed Spirit Kulenov. You gained +80,000 XP].
[You collected a lost soul.]
[You gained 'Cursed Spirit Core.']
[You gained 'Key to the Kulenov's hold'.]
[Congratulations! You have just ascended to level 56!]
[Congratulations! You have just ascended to level 57!]
[Congratulations! You have just ascended to level 58!]
While all these screens appeared to Kaizen, he was most in awe of the landscape above him. It was simply amazing to look up into the sky and see dozens of spirits going into the light, and at the same time see white soot slowly falling from the sky like snow.
Then, as Kaizen looked up into the sky, he saw two figures. The old man and the boy of illusion abilities. Both were smiling and were holding hands as they waved to the Psyker.
Obviously, Kaizen waved back to them, who smiled more because of this, turned their backs and began to follow the other spirits into the light.
