Rising god-Chapter 115: Shurphen Welton
Chapter 115: Shurphen Welton
The Moon Tower pulsed with an ethereal energy, distinct from the Sun Tower’s radiance, as if magic saturated the air. Maybe it was because they were closer to magic than not. He made his way to the fifth floor.
Baines ascended to the fifth floor, his three-star aura unremarkable to most. Here, there were more students than on the lower floors, and those who passed looked at him with disdain and disgust. His struggling movements and ordinary face made people disregard him the more. He wasn’t even classified as bulliable. His lack of magical talent would’ve barred him from studying here, but as a recommendation for a specific branch, he was granted access.
Soon, he reached the section of magic engineering and processed his letters before being allowed in. After processing his letters, he purchased books, a uniform, and materials, then headed to his assigned dormitory, where he’d share a room.
After a knock, a tall boy with round glasses and curly dark hair greeted him.
"N-Nice to meet you, I’m Shurphen Welton," he said, expecting a reply. Baines ignored him, moving inside until his eyes caught something extraordinary.
He hadn’t seen anything like it before. Constructs that weren’t being controlled with magic, this was pure magic engineering. ’Pure magic engineering,’ he thought, stepping closer. Unlike mana-driven creations, these were artificial, mechanical.
"Oh, these," Shurphen said, stepping forward. "They’re little helpers I made. Hello, golems!" He waved, and they mimicked him, their movements eerily lifelike.
’They aren’t being controlled,’ He moved closer.
If it were made with magic, it would be obvious; however, this looked very artificial.
Baines’s gaze shifted to a table beside Shurphen’s bed: a sculpted city, complete with train tracks, lit buildings with tall and interconnected systems, and hovering airships casting dim glows over the city. "Now, this is my dream," Shurphen said, eyes alight. "Every new idea or creation I make goes into this city. One day, I hope it becomes real."
After staring for a while, Baines asked flatly, "Can you make a flying ship?"
"Of course, with the right materials and resources," Shurphen replied, smiling.
’Eye, confirm,’ Baines thought as he used one of Eye’s features he hadn’t used before.
[TRUTH DETECTION: 89%]
’89%?’ He would’ve even accepted 60%; 89% was just further assurance. ’Should I push my luck? Tempted to press further, Baines asked, "Can you make a Sun Destroyer?"
Shurphen’s gaze trembled, his silence heavy.
Baines understood that, look, he was about to shake his head. He prepared to dismiss the claim, but Shurphen spoke. "Can you swear not to share what I’m about to say?"
"I don’t care anymore," Baines said, shrugging. Honestly, he didn’t know why he was disturbing himself. With the knowledge he had given, Wick could likely craft a ship with enough resources. He moved to his bed, dismissing the conversation.
Normally, people would be curious and swear, after all, it was just a secret; however, this was a new response. And true to his response, Baines was already on his bed. Then the response came,
"I can."
Baines was before him in an instant. "What did you say?" ’Eye.’

"I-I said, I can," Shurphen stammered, retreating slightly.
"How?" Baines demanded. Shuphern didn’t know, but Baines believed him more than he thought. Eye’s confirmation outweighed Shurphen’s own conviction. Even then, it was hard to believe.
Sun destroyer, the vessels only imperial commanders could wield. The threat he faced before that metal was on another level. He felt it in his bones then. Just one shot from that thing would’ve obliterated him.
He then realized.
If he wanted to go against the true forces in the future, not the likes of the Tyrell family, the real forces, he would need them. Then all of a sudden, someone was telling him, they could make it. Not just regular ships, not just the regular vessels, but the sun destroyer itself.
"W-Well, it’s because my family made the first blueprint for the Sun Destroyer," Shurphen muttered.
[TRUTH DETECTION: 99%]
Once again, it was the truth.
Baines’s eyes narrowed. ’The Welton family?’ He had never heard of them.
Such an achievement warranted at least a Two Sun rank in one go.
"I-I know what you’re thinking, but you’re wrong. What do you think happens to a family that can suddenly create a Sun Destroyer?" Shurphen asked, sitting as his golems clustered around him.
His family was destroyed, just for greed. Just like his.
"All anyone hears is the imperial family’s grandeur, their god-bloodline, but no one sees their cruelty."
’Hmm, he’s in the moon tower, so he must’ve fled to the Lunar Dominion.’ Baines thought, noting Shurphen’s presence in the moon tower. But this wasn’t the first time hearing of the empire’s cruelty. One of the previous emperors enslaved the Darkans after all.
"I escaped and reached the Lunar Dominion in time," Shurphen said, a faint smile breaking through.
Baines sighed. "But why do you think I care about your backstory?"
Shurphen grinned. "When you entered, one of my creations scanned your luggage, and guess what I found? A Sun Star." He paused, expecting a reaction. "Now, recently, a new One Sun rank holder emerged, and then was presumed dead."
Baines’ expression seemed to say. So?
Shurphen faltered, expecting shock. "A-Anyway, I know you’re Jin, the Darkan hero. From your words and actions, I suspect you’re searching for someone, and needing a Sun Destroyer implies war, likely revenge."
’Should I summon Wick with chains?’ Baines bristled as he frowned. He didn’t like feeling this way. Shurphen already knew too much.
Shurphern shuddered and stopped talking about it.
"S-So, the thing is, I also want revenge on the empire, too," Shurphen continued. "But I lack your battle prowess or strategy, but I have this." He gestured to his city model.
"Who do you think you are, using me for your revenge?" Baines didn’t try to correct his misdirection on his revenge against the Solaris and turned to leave.
"N-No, I have something better than the Sun Destroyer," Shurphen shouted.
"And?"
"Please, please, just hear me out," Shurphen pleaded, his desperation piercing through Baines. "Yes, in the future you might get a hold of these things and you don’t even currently need me, but I do. I WATCHED THEM DIE!"

Baines’s eyes widened.
This was what moved him the most. For him, there was the certainty that his family was still alive; however, for this boy, it was all gone. There was no one. Perhaps his dream was all that kept him alive.
"I want to tear down that golden palace, I want to see those bastards grovel, I want to see their so-called god miserable. Now tell me, did I speak to the right person?"
’Those eyes,’ He didn’t need to check the mirror to know. The face he was showing was similar to his. He couldn’t help but ask himself, ’Have I forgotten my pain?’
After finding his brother, the number of times he had replayed that video was minimal, ’Have I lost my rage?’
No, he refused to accept it.
’Seems like I have dulled a bit,’ He made a reminder to replay those events and was about to nod when something slammed down hard at him.
Betrayal.
As much as the loss of his family felt, betrayal hit him as much. It was for this reason that he didn’t like relating to people past business relationships. So, he decided to ask a final question.
"So your revenge is only towards the empire, and you will give everything to me afterwards, right?"
Surphen didn’t waste time.
"YES, I’LL GIVE UP EVERYTHING AFTER ACHIEVING MY REVENGE." He yelled out, like he was shouting out to the world.
Baines stared at him for a long time. Surphen heaved and sat down afterwards.
’Should I chain him?’ Baines thought with a frown. freёwebnoѵel.com
Everything would have been perfect. Baines would’ve probably felt kinship like that of the princess in this person. Only if,
